great job making the panel. However, since that is a knee wall access to the attic, it needs the same R value insulation as the attic ceiling, behind it. (such as R30, etc.) otherwise that will be a really hot spot in the summers.
Clearly not a sheet of drywall, but I couldn't tell if that was plywood, MDF, or something else. Was it painted or poly over natural wood? Also, I would probably put some insulating foam board behind it; either glued to access door or fitted between the studs to be removable. Thanks for the video. I have an upstairs hip wall with a wide area that seems to have no studs and no insulation. May be the original owner/builder planned an access and failed to follow through. The room is a hot box in the summer (roof is south facing). I suspect the insulation batting is blocking air flow to the roof vents; owner was a DIY home builder/contractor (and a dumbass). I'll have to come up with a custom access door of my own.
+OG Timbercraft It's a '79 California addition. It was my Stepfathers. I'm hoping that I can start restoring it soon. Had the engine overhauled and a kill switch installed to keep it from shorting out the battery. This summer I will probable start ripping out and installing a new interior carpet. I will video so everyone can get a good laugh at my utter lack of knowledge. lol Ken

Thanks, it was natural plywood. I painted it a few months later. And the foam backer is a great idea.
