  • *NOTE MY APOLOGIES IF IM EVER COMING OFF ARROGANT OR MISREPRESENTING MYSELF AS KNOWER OF EVERYTHING, NOT MY ATTENTIONS, I AM CONFIDENT IN MY ABILITIES AND IM SPEAKING ON STUFF IVE DONE AND MY EXPIERIANCES FIRST HAND. I SHARE WHAT IVE DONE AND LEARNED NOT SECOND HAND INFO. I will discuss lightly wire gauges, connectors and how to double them up if necessary so they are not Bottlenecking your system. No need if having 300plus amps if your not delivering it properly! These are just the basics in power transfer and this can be applied to any system. Ive taken My power transfer on my Race Bike to the next level with Impedance Matching but thats extreme calculations to get the lowest impedance possible and maximum efficiency but not necessary only for those like myself who plan to be competitive and looking for the edge. These basics will be sufficient for most everyone!

    thought id share this too,when upgrading the phase wires in a direct drive hub motor we found that removing the silicon outer sheath and recovering it with heat shrink made a big difference in diameter and easier to get through the axle and allways rub wires with candle wax too so they slide through

      Thats the only way theyll fit exactly what I did to get those 10 guage to pass thru. That was on that cheap motor on Fank. QS has gotten better with using right size Phase wires on their new motors

    Hey Chris! Awesome video! Very informative stuff!

    Heya chris sorry to correct youu though mate you cant parallel fuses like you can wire its the same for diodes too, 2 x 100 amp fuses would still blow at 100 amp youd have get a 200 amp straight off ,hehe cant have a irate viewer sayinng but youu said this now can we ,another awesome video cheers

      Idk about this one Katie, It may not blow at exactly 200 just as it doesnt blow at exactly what its rated but it definitely not blowing at the same rate. Ive done this several time in car stereo and automotive electrical systems when i didn't have a larger fuse and they were blowing.In AC if a fuse is blowing from high voltage it will still blow because its voltage blowing it but not with current When I doubled them they no longer blew so it may not be double but its definitely more than just single. Just like the quick release connectors I wouldnt use a dam fuse either Im just trying to cover all bases but Ive done that and it will work, Is it the correct way probaly best to get a big fuse if you gotta have one

    oh chris spent up big on genuine ev power cable he means business

    heya chris those seats we can probably make a bunch for your viewers they arnt overly labour intensive ,have a think and get a feel for what sort qty wed be looking at and we can go from there and see if its viable

      @ChrisCrossingWires1212  ปีที่แล้ว

      You could make a Killing evrone ask me about those seats so yeah why dont you guys do that and send me a sample lol

    Can you do a video showing how you would solder together two wires of a thicker gauge like 10 or 8

    • @ChrisCrossingWires1212
      @ChrisCrossingWires1212  ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually have that in a few videos but I can do one specifically as I couldnt tell you what video that is but yeah will do

    people should always keep the battery cables and phases cables the shortest possible distance ,when the phases cables get to long the motor can actually suffer from going out of phase which shortens motors life ,makes it really noisey,and gets hot really fast

      I should have mentioned that too good point You know most of my videos are never thought out, I just pick a topic and start rambling, lol trying to cover it all and realize what I left out after the fact, anyway not gonna make me start writing my scripts lol this is a no script show but yeah true statement

      Going out of phase? What are you talking about? LOL. The motor will not go out of phase unless you either mechanically swap cable connections or it is done in the software on the controller. Long cables will only cause more heat and loss of current capability. I have been servicing generators that have hundreds of feet of phase cable.

    I failed to mention allot of things in this video like Katie said THE MOST IMP Not using a quick disconnect at all ON BIG PWR SYSTEMS like on my bike lol but this aint about my bike most of you have quick disconnect but she is right BIG pwr NO QUICK DISCONNECTS are BEST!

    i am of the belief if your using over 150amps leave the connectors out alltogether and just use copper eye ring terminals and bolt them together

    • @ChrisCrossingWires1212
      @ChrisCrossingWires1212  ปีที่แล้ว

      Im of that same belief Katie I have no quick disconnects Mine goes straight from My battery to controller just like I dont have BMS but the way I do my stuff i have to tell guys that use that stuff the best way but I agree

      most of those guys want quick release cuz there scared of battery fires and want to be able to remove them or take them out to charge or transport but carry some big cutters for emergency removal hahaha

    So I had Neil Degrass Tyson Himself coming up with some semantics in a DIY group saying that what I said wasnt an exact science in the doubling of wires lmao and Im off by some .001 percentages pahahaha but I assure you it fking close enough unless your calculating wire impedance as i do none of that will mean shit to most of you. Im the only one Anal enough to do that type of build.

    Would there be a considerable difference in power transfer and efficiency with one 8AWG vs. two 10AWG cable/wires?

    • @ChrisCrossingWires1212
      @ChrisCrossingWires1212  ปีที่แล้ว

      its a 25 amp difference in there dc rating 10 is 30 8 is 55 but that is dc line amps thats almost double now they can both be pushed a lil harder but that really depends on how long the lenth is. if its a short wire maybe not too much but the longer the wire the more resistance and the more loss

    • @ChrisCrossingWires1212
      @ChrisCrossingWires1212  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i had those ratings backwards i made correction just making sure you see that
