I always cheat the E chord by putting my first finger on the 4th string, 2nd fret and my thumb over the 1st through 3rd strings, 4th fret ! (Hopefully my explanation makes sense!)

Easier alternative to E: put your second, third and fourth fingers on the fourth frets of the G, C, and E string, then put your first finger on the second fret of the A string. Hope this helps 😁
