I could never really understand how the devil went from being a minor character in the bible to being a focus for the catholic church. this video really helps put that transition into context - the church used the devil as a tool for converting pagans and wiping out christian ideologies that it didn't like. great video, thanks!

@@luxinvictus9018 Yes and no. A tendency towards seeing the world as a dualistic battle between the forces of pure good and pure evil were around before the new Testament in various Jewish sects. We have examples of this in the Book of Enoch (composed around the third century B.C.E.) and some books of the dead sea scrolls. These were (probably) influenced by interactions with Zoroastrian Persians as opposed to Greeks/Romans/Egyptians.

      Goodness! That's a long-winded but accurate reply!
Simply put, I'd look into the Book of Enoch, specifically the War of the Sons of Darkness for the Jewish origin story.

@@sarahgilbert8036 well, the commandment that the church STOLE from Moses decalogue is Thou shall not bear false witness against the neighbor. It's not saying not to lie, but not to lie to God really. But yeah, the Catholic church(Roman at least) are and always where there greatest of all "heretics".

Arith, excellent video. Many questions, comments... As an animist, do you understand the formation of the universe or the spiritual ecosystem that we are part of forming or formed in what way? If we are connected, if we are not even above or below spiritually speaking compared to the spirits around us and we relate as symbiosis, why do we or they have no access to more energies, abilities manipulating reality or even us? What do you think about the ethereal double, dimensions, akashic registers, portals, sigils, enn's, spells, evocations, invocations, talismans etc to exchange at least energies with spirituality? There is much more between heaven and earth and between our dense vibration and spiritual evolution! Please, as you are animist, your opinion and answer will be very important to me, I believe! I will await your feedback on all this. Cordially, Leonardo do Brasil, soure, Marajó Island Pará.🙂.

    Follow
The first one says: “Whoever enters our life is the right person”; That is, no one enters our lives by chance, all the people around us, who interact with us, are there for something, to make us learn and move forward in every situation.
    • The second law says: "What happens is the only thing that could have happened." Nothing but nothing, absolutely nothing that happens to us in our lives could have been otherwise. Not even the smallest detail.
    • There is no such thing as: "If I had done one thing like that, another would have happened...". No. What happened was the only thing that could have happened and it had to be that way for us to learn that lesson and move on. Each and every one of the situations that happen to us in our lives are perfect, even if our mind and our ego resist and don't want to accept.
    • The third says: "Whenever it starts, it's the right time." It all starts at the right time, neither before nor after. When we're ready for something new to start in our lives, that's when we'll start.
    • And the fourth and last: "When something ends, it ends." Just like that. If something has ended in our lives, it's for our evolution, so it's better to leave, move on and move on already enriched with that experience.
    • I think it is no accident that you are reading this, if these words have entered our lives today; it is because we are prepared to understand that no snowflake ever falls in the wrong place. •
    Maybe animistic...
    blessed sunday to you

Odin, like many other pagan deities, has been demonized by the Christian-religious thinking, and that is quite noticible throughout the Middle Ages, although not all gods were demonized and some were more than others, of course. Odin's demonization is more noticible in the late Middle Ages and post-Modern periods, especially in Iceland when Odin was evoked (and sometimes invoked) alongside Judeo-Christian demons. In Sweden, after Christianization, Odin was almost forgotten especially during the Witch Trials, but was "re-awakened" in folklore and in Swedish Trolldóm between the 18th and 19th centuries, appearing in troll-formulas (and in some förgöra - destructive spells), most of which with curse-intention, alongside the Devil, as Odin became to be understood as an entity as powerful as the Devil but not quite with the evil imagery of the middle ages, but still pretty bad and dangerous. Loki was by far the Scandinavian pagan figure to be more demonized, and it's already noticible in Snorri Sturluson's version of Ragnarök, where Loki (and Surtr) play the role of the Devil and in that account Loki is much more the reflection of a Christian-Consciousness rather than pagan/heathen, unlike in earlier sources where Loki still retained some important pagan-animistic traits (in Snorri's version of Ragnarök Heimdallr plays the role of the Archangel Michael, and Odin as the King/Lord of Heavens). Aside from Old Norse poems of the 10th century, Danish folklore concerning Loki (Loke) is what best retains the animistic character of Loki. Old Norse gods may have been demonized by the Church but it wasn't a demonization as strong as it happened (expect the case of Loki) to other pagan gods such as Diana, Hekate, Frau Holle, etc. (mostly goddesses); or turned into Saints like some pagan gods were. Sanctification/Canonization in Scandinavia was much more present, turning into saints all those who had lived in a time before Christianity had a strong foothold in the North, to "save" the souls of the dead pagans. Scandinavia is by far the European country with more saints than any other country, to the point that some small localities have over 400 saints, which were the dead pagan ancestors turned into saints to facilitate conversion in some areas.

1.) pre grade school, there was Boda wolf mother and more than a few woodland spirits/ fairies.
2.) grade school, stander super heroes .. then I said good bye to all my .. imaginary .. friends at nine years old.
3.) Move from a small country rural town to a large housing neighbor hood in Florida and had to deal with the Southern Baptist Church that was more of a Christian dooms day cult for a couple of years 1987 to 89. for a ten year old it suck. I could not tell the difference between the living and the dead. Then hurricane come through and I could see those who died from Yellow Fever, which really made me doubt the Baptist faith. Bunch of paddling child abusers anyhow. Which started me talking to Greek gods as a mental defense to deal with the Baptist. " New imaginary friends."
4.) Moved back to my grand parents small town, About 12 to 13, my imaginary friends showed back up and rather insistent that they were not .. imaginary. I just kept it to myself.
5.) Academically start studying witchcraft as a science and not a spiritual practice. I wanted to read Wicca but my grandparents told my to wait till I was 16 and develop my Own path. Age 15 I got a hold of a Wicca book and found out my grandparents already taught me what was in it. My grand mom was an Scottish/ Turkish witch and my grand father was more or less a German druid who's house spirits were Loki and Angrboda the wolf mother. And my fairy friends stop talking to my around the age of 15 cause I got too .. serious. And I was already very withdrawn and overly discipline to begin with.

7.) My three fairy elemental friends pop back into my life again around my early 20's at a D&D game shop cause it was a place full of imagination. Those role playing dice and random action charts have a mind of their own at times. Let's tell a story with oracle dice & cards.
Then they went quite for a few years.
8.) No contact, no magic circle work .. then around my early thirties they show up in the middle of the night as a flock of ravens/ crows waking me and my house guest up. In the dark with only the light coming in from the windows can you tell there are birds in the room, turn the lights on .. then there is nothing there.
