This just sprung into my mind. I think it would make more sense if the ball was yellow, to give the illusion that Pac-man is in the pinball table (you do play the pinball part by going down in that direction, so why not?).
A quartet of guys in their 30s would come to my local Chuck E. Cheese's in the 80s and play this game and Jr. Pac-Man. They would tilt the machine backward and get a free power pellet. One of them commented the machine was much heavier than other arcade cabinets of the era. I was young. Some of the guys tilted the machine for me once or twice. I recall not enjoying the video version of Pac-Man compared to other Pac-Man games in the arcade. However, what a great innovation in arcade games!
Wow! Took me waaay back watching this 👍🏼 Our JCPenneys store had a small arcade beside the catalog ordering area. My mom would sit and look through the catalog for what seemed like hours while I played this game. Thanks for the video! Lots of fun 😀
To say we used to anoy the arcade owner when we found that if hold player 1 and player 2 while powering on the game puts it in free play mode was an understatement not sure if all the baby pac software has this feature :) so might not work on all games might be worth trying on Granny And The Gators as well
Great video! We took our Baby Pac-man to Big Bang this year in Ottumwa IA for our Pac-man Birthday room and so many people loved. Some said they never played it when it was out back in the 80's. Pac-man-Pat
I remember playing this game at Giovanni;s Pizza in Granite Falls NC as a kid. This was such a classic cool arcade game. Kids these days often ask, "What's an arcade?" The sparkle in their eyes gives me the idea to open a retro/nostalgic arcade room.
Played this a few times in the arcade when I was 8 or 9 years old, then never saw it again until a classic video game convention a few years ago. Still as fun (and as HARD) as I remember it. I wish someone would find a way to emulate the back and forth between the Pac field and pinball field!
Baby pac is the ultamate game to have for your rec room. It's small and doesn't take up much room. It's both a video game and a pinball machine, it looks nice! And it's probably worth a lot of money. Damn you have some fun toys. I have a pinball machine in my rec room, but I would gladly trade it in for a baby pac!
This is crazy but fun the mazes are tough without the pellets and the ghosts are smarter the pinball’s the key it all just played this last night at Barcade in NYC great game!
If you still miss this machine and want to be able to play it. Look into Visual Pinball X, it is indeed on there. It's behaves and looks just like the real machine. It's amazing.
That garage of yours looks so 80s with all the arcade game machines. It reminds me of the scene in the new 3D Tron movie, you should put in Journey music.
I used to laugh at the flatulent noise each time a blue monster was gobbled up the first time I played this game when I was kid. I did get my quarter's worth, however.
While it's true you can't play this in MAME, you CAN play it in Visual Pinball. I have no idea how they managed to pull that off, but I've played it, so I know it does work.
wonderful video john. nice arcade too. i used to love to play baby pac man at the drive in. i was never any good...i just loved to see both formats of play in 1 game. you did an amazing job investing time to make yours look great. nice work fellow enthusiast!!..billy
Somehow, this kind of fusion sounds like a brilliant way to shake up the gameplay. I'm shocked that I've researched a buzz that says something like this concept wasn't very favored.
Awesome video man, l've never seen one of these in person but would sure like to one day. Great video and l loved seeing it in action - l've only ever seen pictures. Thanks man!
This would be an excellent choice for Nintendo's Dual Screen system, but of course there's nothing like the real thing. Great vid. Thanks for using a tripod. :P
Awesome video! Thanks so much - just the right level of play for us to follow - and as you noted, really kicked butt on the table there.... Thanks again!
Thanks so much for the video. Okay 40 I try to tell younger people about things & this machine is a hard one to believe! But so is self addressed envelopes & how we used to get shit just from sending in a few UPC codes. Anyway,it's a shame this never caught on but I also value Ray it didn't and makes this machine that much more unique. Between this machine,Dragon's Lair & Joust, I could wash a family's clothes in the laundry mat I played those titles at for over 2 years. \m/
Well, it's Pac-Man down in the pinball area too; just a different version than _regular_ Pac-Man. Well, even the video part isn't exactly _regular_ Pac-Man, but it comes close. Right?
thanks for the video I agree that it is a tough game didn't realize that as a kid just liked that it combined the two elements I think they should of had tunnels at the top and the ghosts should stay dead a lot longer . anywho thanks
There was only one other to my knowledge called Caveman or something similar. It was more of a pinball game with an videogame feature rather than the other way around with Baby Pac. Correct me if I am wrong, John.
...But then ya got rid of it anyway! :-< Wow, interesting that more of your arcade was in the garage than in the basement back in those days. I really like the vid./pin. combo! Oh, but so actually the video part *isn't* just Pac Man in the truest sense.
Wow that baby pac is in good condition. do you have any pictures of when you first got it? . I haven't seen or herd of to many baby pacs being in good condition. You did say you had put a lot of work into . How long and what condition was it in when you got it?
Used play this and granny and the gators quite a lot think they are both the same system ,, hold down the 1 and 2 player start buttons when the game powers up for an interesting surprise that was not very popular feature for arcade operators (so long as the game is not on free play as you won't notice)
How much can you nudge that table? I'd imagine it'd be a lot heavier than a standard sized table what with the cabinet attached. Also judging by the angle of the flippers, catch and hold looks impossible.
hey john arcade what happen to your arcade website what happen to the Japanese arcade that you had two parts of the computer boards and hard ware stuff about the arcade machine
This just sprung into my mind. I think it would make more sense if the ball was yellow, to give the illusion that Pac-man is in the pinball table (you do play the pinball part by going down in that direction, so why not?).
gold?
@@randallross420 I was just thinking a regular ball bearing spray painted yellow.
@@pgj1997 Nice
baby pacman for 3DS! i imagine this game in the handled, using both screens
"I would never get rid of it"
then he did it anyway...
Yeah, I miss it.
+John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech How much did it sell for, im curious to maybe get one in the future when I get established.
Usually this game retails for around $3,000.
Rickey Bell uh, no.
Why did you get rid of it??

My muscles were tensing up during the pinball game, haha. I used to love playing this when I was a kid. I miss 80s arcades.
The Punch-Out Arcade music really added to explaining the game
To say we used to anoy the arcade owner when we found that if hold player 1 and player 2 while powering on the game puts it in free play mode was an understatement not sure if all the baby pac software has this feature :) so might not work on all games might be worth trying on Granny And The Gators as well

Rickey Bell my dream but we need qbert and after burner delxue
Please add qbert. I don't know how long blissey can hold off sweetie snout
Baby Pac-Man and Gravitar side-by-side. That's just amazing. Two of my favorite machines ever. Both seriously underrated games.
Played this a few times in the arcade when I was 8 or 9 years old, then never saw it again until a classic video game convention a few years ago. Still as fun (and as HARD) as I remember it. I wish someone would find a way to emulate the back and forth between the Pac field and pinball field!
Wish Pinball FX on the Switch put out this table, the last one they did was Indiana Jones and that was a few years ago I think they stopped
A tip to you blkdog: when you get power pellets, don't eat the ghosts you get much more protection
My favorite game of all time!!
I see this game one time as a teenager. Never saw one again. Thanks for the showing.
Never heard of baby pacman pinball where have I been 😔 i lived in NYC all my life and played arcade games and now I see baby pacman pinball.
Takes me back to Show Biz Pizza and Challenge Arcade in Reading, PA. A game way ahead of its time,
I have one too, I got it in almost perfect condition
Baby pac is the ultamate game to have for your rec room. It's small and doesn't take up much room. It's both a video game and a pinball machine, it looks nice! And it's probably worth a lot of money. Damn you have some fun toys. I have a pinball machine in my rec room, but I would gladly trade it in for a baby pac!
It is a cool game. Thanks for this break down of its game play. It's not a super obvious game to just walk up to an play so this video really helped.
If you listened closely, the sound effects in the pinball portion are similar to the sounds in Bubbles.
This is crazy but fun the mazes are tough without the pellets and the ghosts are smarter the pinball’s the key it all just played this last night at Barcade in NYC great game!

I usually hate that baby/cutification stuff, but that machine just kicks ass!
My favorite game at Showbiz back in the day.
The gameplay is actually satisfying not gonna lie
That garage of yours looks so 80s with all the arcade game machines. It reminds me of the scene in the new 3D Tron movie, you should put in Journey music.
I used to laugh at the flatulent noise each time a blue monster was gobbled up the first time I played this game when I was kid. I did get my quarter's worth, however.
I am reading the birth of an icon and there is no pic of this machine. I could not imagine what it looks like. Thx for this vid.
They have this at an arcade close to me. I love binge playing this game. It’s super addictive
We got one of these machines at a retrocade. It’s currently down for maintenance but I wanted to see how it works
I remember watching this all the time back in the day.
man, keep up the great work, love every video you made and looking forward to your next project
Sick punch out theme going on In the background
While it's true you can't play this in MAME, you CAN play it in Visual Pinball. I have no idea how they managed to pull that off, but I've played it, so I know it does work.

billytherobot I first played this game at the same type of venue
I've always wanted this game.
Somehow, this kind of fusion sounds like a brilliant way to shake up the gameplay. I'm shocked that I've researched a buzz that says something like this concept wasn't very favored.
The Golden Knight it was often difficult to repair so bally/midway shelved it in place of just a regular baby pac man
i just got this game for Visual Pinball its great its not the real one but hey its close love your videos john
I sold it! :) I do miss it, though. If I so another cheap I'd probably jump on it.
Those pellets last like what, 2 seconds? Still loved this game when I was a kid!
He advanced the fruits/stages too
I've actually played this on Visual Pinball on my computer!
I remember playing this in my local bowling alley as a kid... the pinball was REALLY hard to play as the board had almost a 90 degree tilt... lol...
Awesome video man, l've never seen one of these in person but would sure like to one day. Great video and l loved seeing it in action - l've only ever seen pictures.
Thanks man!
jslime this and after burner delxue are on my cabinet bucket list
I never knew this existed until a few years ago. It's pretty rad!
Such a cool game and it’s my first time seeing it 🎰
This would be an excellent choice for Nintendo's Dual Screen system, but of course there's nothing like the real thing. Great vid. Thanks for using a tripod. :P
Baby Pacman can be layed on PinMAME if you have the rom and Pinball
The site is back up! Had some issues with my host. Thanks!
Takes me back to the Campus Casino Pizza place in Bloomington.
525Lines Good ole U of I! :)
525Lines mustang drive in
Awesome video! Thanks so much - just the right level of play for us to follow - and as you noted, really kicked butt on the table there....
Thanks again!
Nice vid Blkdog! Is the right green 'when lit' lamp stuck on? Shorted transistor maybe?

I thought I ha imagined this game cause I hadn't seen it since I was like 4 or 5 I'm glad to know I'm not crazy
Adrian Shapiro same here for years I considered this and after burner delxue figments of my imagination
Ah, man. This game looks so awesome! I subbed to you. I've actually been watching your videos before I had this account. Awesome review!
Man this game looks a lot of fun wow
Caridani23 it was but difficult
Has a Mike Tyson's Punchout sound! :D
There was only one other to my knowledge called Caveman or something similar. It was more of a pinball game with an videogame feature rather than the other way around with Baby Pac. Correct me if I am wrong, John.
You are not wrong, i own caveman. It is awesome
Actually, you can play it in Visual Pinball via VPinMAME.
It can be played in mame and visual pinball now in 2019 everyone should try
LOL did i just hear mike tysons punch out?
I saw this in can can wonderland but it was out of order.
TYSM for this vid! Ive never seen the game before, never knew it existed. You did an AMAZING job on explaining how it works!
...But then ya got rid of it anyway! :-<
Wow, interesting that more of your arcade was in the garage than in the basement back in those days. I really like the vid./pin. combo! Oh, but so actually the video part *isn't* just Pac Man in the truest sense.
I played this game back in the day
Oddly I’d actually like to see more gameplay on this one! Cool game!
He sadly sold it.
Wow that baby pac is in good condition. do you have any pictures of when you first got it? . I haven't seen or herd of to many baby pacs being in good condition. You did say you had put a lot of work into . How long and what condition was it in when you got it?
that looks awesome!
Great review. Haha, 6:05 "Oh, shit, oh SHIT! Ahhh, fuck.
That's an amazing arcade machine!
0:14 bro there's literally a midways bubbles arcade machine but it is robotron 2084
I might get one. I have allready the pacman ms pac and super pac cabs
how much do these cost anw? arent each cabin like 300 pounds? wt r u rich?
How big video screen it looks like a smaller screen then most arcades.
You have a nice arcade!
This game was fun, but really hard. You must have gotten a great offer to sell it :)
Now it's "We're in the basement!" :)
How much is a cab? Inalways wanted to try it out, love pinball and pacman
Used play this and granny and the gators quite a lot think they are both the same system ,, hold down the 1 and 2 player start buttons when the game powers up for an interesting surprise that was not very popular feature for arcade operators (so long as the game is not on free play as you won't notice)
I actually got this working in Future Pinball!
4:12 to add to that, the ghost ai could’ve been better too.
Aww man when i get older i wanna have an arcade room
Pinball + arcade
good job on this game John. Tell me if U get Crossbow.
at least the pacman travels much faster in relation to the ghosts than the ms pacman does in the arcade versions.
This _is_ an arcade version.
How much can you nudge that table? I'd imagine it'd be a lot heavier than a standard sized table what with the cabinet attached. Also judging by the angle of the flippers, catch and hold looks impossible.
That's really neat
You got a great arcade room. :D
This is actually really cool!
Wow never got to play
hey john arcade what happen to your arcade website what happen to the Japanese arcade that you had two parts of the computer boards and hard ware stuff about the arcade machine
@TheCaptiannaitpac yes, it's the sound
John how did you saw the bad word when you lose don't saw that?
Great Video! Thank you.
What do you think a decent example is worth now?
Someone emulated/wrote it for Visual Pinball.
hey john, which of your videos has you saying that some arcade game of yours was down for the count?
abot how much efot did they put in that?
