Hey guys, in this video we will show you how to remove and replace front door speaker on VW Golf or Jetta MK5. It will be very close procedure for the rear door speaker as well but there will be some differences in the door panel removal process. We have the video on World Mechanics Channel if you need it. You will need to drill the rivets and use a rivet gun to install new speakers.

Size of rivets?
@@JohnSap92 did you ever find out what the size of the replacement rivets were?
Good thing you removed the driver side door panel (only one thats different) off camera
Do you have video that changes these to aftermarket component type? Something like a MB Quart or Alpine with cross overs?
what size was the speaker you removed and what was the second speaker that stayed in the panel when you removed it ?
what speaker did you use? looks like you put the old one back in.
why rivet in? you can use bolts or rive nut?
Can i replace front and rear speakers on my golf 5 (3 door) with Bose speakers?

just replace with screws
Just buy a cheap assortment box of rivets. You'll find the right size - whatever fits the holes in the speaker mounting ring. But as said, you can use self-tapping metal screws instead.
What if it's the small speaker that's attached to the door panel. Do you have a video for that?

You just need the largest rivets that will fit. But as said elsewhere in the comments, you can use screws instead.

good video but you dont need to rivit it back in, just use screws and it will work and you dont need to remove rivits next time around

wow i just finished this myself.. so ridiculous having to drill out the screws.. make sure to use the right drill bit too good god what a pain in the ass
lol Yeah I bought all the drill bits with my first Volkswagen. Even a bunch of shops in my area don't have the right ones 🤣

My Mk4 had the Monsoon stereo, but I currently have an Mk5 without a Monsoon stereo. They have the same speakers.
