Murdered not Executed. Execution carries a sense of judicial process, a decision which can be appealed. This was no execution, it was a bloody and vengeful murder.

Execution is defined by the political system in power and how it defines justice. In securing his abdication the Duma (parliament) not the Bolsheviks accepted it which means their was a court held and the judgment was abdication vs asylum and war. Nicholas/Romanovs were tyrants and everyone but Nicholas and his queen understood this and there would be no asylum only potential land grabs but threats on the Empires border using the Royal Family as an excuse for invasion. The Monarchs during this period were all related and although majority were Constitutional monarchs their governments could potentially use the familial connections as excuse for invasion. As in any Revolution espcially in this era they were going to die there was no option in

@@colleta2400 I’m afraid I cannot follow your argument.
The Duma was not a court. If you want to argue that it was, then it was a kangaroo court in which Nicholas was not represented, he was not advised of the charges against him and he did not have the opportunity to respond to any charges. The first he was aware of this “court” was when he was told of the conviction and the sentence which had been passed - the demand for his abdication. The Provisional Government did not charge Nicholas with any crime. Nor did the Bolsheviks after they seized power. At no time was Nicholas charged and tried in a court. The first that Nicholas and his family were aware they had been sentenced to death was moments before they were all murdered when Yurovsky said “…the Presidium of the Regional Soviet of the Urals has resolved to condemn you to death by firing squad.” So I cannot see how anyone can argue that Nicholas and his family were properly tried by a properly constituted court.

The Romanovs were murdered on the order of Lenin, as an act that meant that there was no turning back from the Revolution in much the same way that the monarchy of France was murdered during the French Revolution (from which Lenin, Marx, and Engel drew inspiration and the wrong conclusions). Law without morality becomes baseless rule that is predicated on power and repression, not dissent is allowed.

The Romanov dynasty was bloody, tyrannical, and without mercy. Nobody "deserves" that death, however, in revolutions especially during this era and most notable with this particular dynasty they understood it was going to have to be done.
End of Day Nicholas is responsible for the end of the dynasty and terrible outcome. He was offered a chance for Constitutional Monarchy (like UK) with a Duma (Parliament) and he refused because he was tyrant. There is alot of romanticism and revisionism regarding this family which alters the reality because it negates the conditions that led to this revolution. Nicholas legacy is that of a weak leader who was indecisive, lacked vision, immaturity, and refusal to understand the changing world. He could have saved Russia and his people instead this was the path.

Your comment is probably true Elizabeth but you are ignoring the difference between the absolute powers of the Tsar Autocrat of all the Russias and those of a Constitutional Monarch in a parliamentary state.
Nicholas II had simply to issue an order (ukaz) and it was done, George V was obliged to follow the advice of his government ministers.
Labour unrest at the time was heated and whilst a majority of the people would have accepted the Empress and the children, there was growing opposition to Nicholas "The Bloody" settling in the UK.
Lord Stamfordham* advised King George to withdraw his invitation.

@@gordonsmith8899 I read that too that it was Stamfordham who advised George not to offer asylum to the Romanovs. However, George had already extended the invitation, and I saw the letter where George wrote something like "He must be allowed to withdraw his offer of asylum to the Romanovs" or something to that effect. I wasn't in his shoes, obviously, and I understand the potential for political unrest with the Romanovs coming to England. However, wonder if George would have overruled Stamfordham if he had any indication of what terror was to befall the Romanovs? I always wondered how George felt when he heard the news, especially about those innocent children.

You're being simplistic - George V didn't have a crystal ball and he was not an absolute monarch who could simply issue orders.
Of course he was aware of the threat of civil disturbance in the UK - Nicholas was known as "The Bloody" to the growing socialist movement.
It's not realistic to expect any king (or president) to risk civil disorder for the sake of another ruler who has lost the support of his own people sad as that might be for the people involved.
King George's basic obligation and responsibility was to secure and maintain peace in his own kingdom.

"They" were a nation torn in civil war, regular working people trying to find stability, food, jobs, housing in a country left in midevil conditions because Nicholas was weak, indecisive, lack of vision, and dominated by his wife. Lenin ordered the execution of this family as in any revolution in this time or before "When you strike you must kill the king" this is a cruel but true statement Nicholas and his son could not live as none of the royal French family could. Why? I will let you research that.
The Russian people did not execute this family they had no control over this they believed the Czar dead but the family in exile as this was what the Bolsheviks released.

      1) Bolshevism is an ideology it is not a race, religion or nationality. Bolshevik ideology believes in Karl Marx Communist Manifesto and was not then or now exclusive to Russia (the country) LOL. There were German, French, American, British, etc..etc..etc... "Bolsheviks" there still are.
      2) The Bolsheviks fought against the "Whites" these individuals were Royalists--this is another ideology that believe in absolute monarchy...AKA: Kings rule autocratic (dictionary my dear not explaining everything)
      3) If you ever decide to better yourself and find yourself writing a paper on "Revolutions" most noted Russian, American, French you do not identify the ideology as "the people. During the American Revolution their was the "Patriots" this was ideology of Democracy and the Royalists who believed in the king. Therefore, at this time all still considered themselves "British" so your paper could not say "The Americans overthrew the monarchy" you say the "Patriots" this defines the ideology for this period of history----both sides at this point were colonists of the crown.
      4) the "Russians" meaning the population were A) civilians caught in the civil war without political affiliations just poor struggling and adapting to whoever obtained power. This "My dear" was the majority of the population. B) Royalists C) Bolsheviks. B and C political agitators fighting factions for control. Do you understand any of this? is the air in the head popping getting little smarter? or choosing the dumb path? My commentary was clarifying the Russian people did not kill the Czar it was the Bolsheviks who recieved support, exile, and funding from "international comrades" around the world (French, German, Brits, etc).
WWII "My Dear" the Nazi party/ Hitler gained control and ousted "Bolsheviks" that won votes in the Reichstag. (DUMB de Dum Dum---these were German Bolsheviks). LOL they exchanged one monstrous solution for another.
You do not identify and ideology with a nationality. From 1917 until the dissolution of USSR in 1991 "Russians" suffered behind the Iron curtain. Joseph Stalin murdered in the millions. The Russian people adapted and survived. Never, ever, identify an ideology with nationality. National Socialism otherwise known as Nazism is not "Germans" it is an IDEOLOGY it is a form of Fascism as was Italy.

Michelle Evans. The full account of the execution is generally not given in any of the TH-cam videos or books on the subject. The written report given by Yacov Yurovsky who supervised the executions, claims that the Emperor's daughters were stabbed multiple times with bayonets, and he hints that they may have been raped. But his report doesn't mention the killing of the other members of the imperial family. Some of the czar's cousins were shot, and some were thrown alive into a mine shaft where they lingered for several days before they died. All this information can be found in the Soviet Archives which were first opened to the public (not all of it) by Boris Yeltsin in the 1990s. The Bolsheviks were funded by a New York banker named Jacob Schiff. It was also he who ordered the liquidation of the entire Romanov clan . His instructions were contained in an abandoned telegraph strip found by judicial investigator Nikolai Sokolov in the telegraph house at Ekaterinburg in 1918. This information is also not given in any of the books on the Romanov murders.

It was said the king feared for his own position. As exaggerated as that fear sounds today, he could have found refuge for them somewhere, such as Canada. He was a weak, ineffective, and tyrannical ruler. Tsarist Russia was a brutal autocratic system that had serfdom up until the 1861 (thats right the 19th century). Even after Emancipation the people continued on "Unofficial serfdom" these people remained in dark age conditions unprecedented for 19th century. The Gulag systems were perfected by the Tsars and inherited by the Bolsheviks who simply continued them until Kruchev came to power.
Tsar Nicholas was unfit to rule and the poster child for why inherited power does not work. His immaturity, indecisiveness, and belief in autocratic rule cost Russia their imperial Navy exposing to the world all the Empires vulnerabilities. He had the opportunity to transition to a constitutional monarchy and allow competent and effective elected officials rule, however, he would not do this. One can cry for what happened to the horrors in that tiny basement room on midnight of July 17, 1918, however, mourn for the scourge this man brought on his people. The Russian people suffered under Stalinism because this man cared more for autocratic rule and belief he was anointed by God to rule over the well-being of the people. Russia had a window to be a democracy with great leaders---Nicholas wanted complete power. I mourn what happened to millions under Stalin and communism because it did not have to happen.

They found the bodies of the family, father, mother, three daughters. There bodies were under tree logs in a road. Going out to bury the bodies, the truck kept getting stuck in the mud. The soldiers laid the bodies in the mud, then logs over them. The youngest two were buried a few feet away in the forest. They were not in a burial pit, but used like trash to keep the truck from getting stuck in the mud. No one deserves that.... The father and mother should have never been leaders of Russia, the children should never have been killed. It’s a sad story all around, including the people of Russia.

The populace was still under the thumb of the communists. Their lives were limited and downright sad. I went to see Lenin’s corpse. It was creepy. You had to file in without a sound. One of our group had a cold and was coughing. He first got a dirty look from the guards and then they removed him from the line. There is NO benefit for the populace under communism. It’s easy to place blame after the fact when we can’t stand in the shoes of those who had to make the hard choices. Fortunately, we cannot go back in time to witness that scene. Even if we could, it’s doubtful that we could ever unearth exactly what drove each party to make the choices they did.
But consider the date of their murder: 17 July 1918. At that point in time Great Britain was embroiled in WW1. (The world war would end later that same year.)
None of us alive now have any sense of the slaughter that defined WWI. Since there was so much anti-German sentiment in most of the West, the British Royal family in 1917 decided to exchange their Germanic surname from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to the more British sounding Windsor. (Until she was 4-5, Queen Victoria spoke German at home.) The British Royals have many ties to Germany and that was not the most popular thing to be either during WWI or WWII.
Then, to top that all off, most of the world was in the grips of the pandemic of 1918 (the inaccurately named Spanish Flu) and its staggering death toll (in the millions.)
Add to that mix the fact that Russia was undergoing a very violent Revolution making monarchal governments all over Europe quake in their boots.
However, the deciding factor was/is that the monarch, be it King or Queen, has no political power. This decision was the British government’s to make. So rest easy, bc that kind of political decision wasn’t ever going to be in the hands of an individual ruler. Especially not when the wrong choice could have set Britain and Russia on a war footing. Anyway, we don’t know what/whether there were diplomatic efforts made on their behalf (I am sure that there were.)

The deep deep irony of all of this, is when the second world war broke out, the USSR revived so many Tsarist traditions from the Russian Empire. Even Mikhail Glinka
's song "Slav'sya" from his first opera "A Life for the Tsar
" was played on the very first Soviet Victory parade of 1945. The Bolsheviks destroyed centuries worth of Russian history and culture, but once most of the original Bolsheviks were killed off during the Great purge, Stalin's pragmatism ironically allowed the Tsarist past to fuse into the Soviet-Proletarian culture.

Now I've poured over the entire set of private collections, and I am well into the archival pictures. That site is already amazing and there is so much more I haven't gotten to yet!
I just wanted to come back to TH-cam to make this comment, before my attention is completely stolen away to your page! It's truly incredible- anyone who would watch this video should definitely click the link and explore the site. I was expecting a couple glowing reviews, maybe a couple pages shamelessly selling and plugging the book. I'm so glad I looked- it is so much more.
My other comment- and I'm sure I'm not the first to notice this- but it's just heartbreaking how the pictures of the Romanovs being held prisoner are the only pictures where I see them smiling. They are immaculate, their hair has been shaved off, but they look like a happy family, like vacationing at the family cabin or something. They look so happy and relaxed. It's almost like the weight of royalty had been lifted and they were truly enjoying just living normal lives, being themselves, out of the public eye. For the first time, no one was watching, or criticizing, or sizing them up to be pawns entering into loveless political alliances they called marriages. They could finally stop being perfect. Seeing these pictures makes the end all the more shocking, even more of a betrayal. If I, a hundred years later, an American, feel betrayed, how could that beautiful family have felt? There are some things that just defy all understanding. If my interpretation is at all accurate, then I'm glad they ultimately that time together. I think it was Dr Seuss who comforted my generation when he announced he would no longer be writing books, "Don't cry because it's ending. Smile because it happened. "

@@Caesar88888 I sympathized with what the Bullshit-viks did to your family. I know very well the history of the BUll-shit- viks and what they did to Russia and the Imperial family.
My paternal grandfather was a military priest shot by the NKVD and tens of thousands of other clergymen as well. The Bull-shit -vicks closed or destroyed over 50,000 churches across the country. The ikon themselves were burned as firewood. Jewels and precious metals from churches were used to fund the import of machinery from the U.S and Germany. The huge new tractors plants were partly funded by church spoils.
My maternal grandparent's land and livestock were confiscated and distributed among the peasants. They became homeless with their children. This angered my djedushka and decided to become an anti-Communist leader in his hometown of Belarus. He gathered a large group of anti- Communist men and were ready to die to protect the land that was being confiscated. Many Bull-shit-viks found themselves six feet under. Djedushka was discovered of being an anti- Communist leader and was sentenced to 5 years in prison. Djedushka survived. This is such a sad and tragic story, I have to fight back tears every time I hear about it! Shame upon King George V for refusing to accept his royal cousins Czar Nicholas II and family as refugees! It isn't as if it would have caused George V any hardship sharing Buckingham Palace with the Romanovs! For shame! You NEVER turn your back on family!

I don’t know how they could’ve gone home & looked their own children in the face, without a care in the world & without thinking of what they were going out to do to someone else’s. People just don’t use empathy or logic when they’re caught up in trying to be revolutionary. Humanity can go a long way in creating more effective outcomes, instead of operating from hate & fear, as if it’s justified & will get them what they want by doing so... ultimately, it never does.

    • @colleta2400

King George V of England reigned a Constitutional Monarchy which means the same then as it does today: He/they the British royals have absolutely no politcal power, therefore, no authority to give asylum. Furthermore, George V did not "Plea to Parliament" (means subserviently ingratiate) because Nicholas was a tyrant. The Romanovs ruled the Russian Empire with brutal force it is the Romanovs that infamously instituted the Gulag system where people were worked to death. Nicholas was a weak and indecisive individual that lacked vision. He believed he had God given authority for autocratic rule, therefore, the Russian people lived in midevil conditions. King George V recognized the suffering of the people and communicated this in a letter to Nicholas who responded "I shot two huge stag last night" his letter was about "Royal hunt".
Revolutions occur when the population has essentially had enough of tyranny, suffering, and exploitation. This story is a replicate of the French King and Queen that lost their heads because they were also unfit to rule. Because of the Czar millions of Russian boys died in trenches of WWI without even proper shoes, weapons, basic essentials.

Where you high during history class?
They stayed silent and vague for political reasons. During this period all monarchs were related and they needed to hold any outside threats at bey so they kept a global presence while monitoring world interest in order to gain power and stabilize their economy. During this period we (USA) were isolationist but could potentially cause further destablization to Russia economic plan while other European powers threaten their borders, therefore, as in all Revolutions during and before this time maintaining a no comment or vague was the way to go.
If you decide to go the education route you will not be given the romantic-revisionist version of Romanov rule you will instead learn the events, history and cause-effect events that ended this tyrannical rule. Nicholas was indecisive, incompetent, lacked leadership skills, vision, and insight. The Tsarina was hypochondriac and ruled her husband neither were fit to rule. They were at fault for what happened to Russia and her people because their arrogance and complete lack of insight led to their demise. They had the opportunity to save the Russian people by agreeing to Constitutional Monarcy with a Duma (Uk is constitutional monarchy) and Duma is a parliament. He engaged in war with Japan loosing their fleet, engaged in WWI killing millions of Russians, he refused to deal with changing world instead opting to continue with Romanov way of dealing with those that challenge their rule which was brutality, executions, and the Gulags.

If you are really interested in the truth about the life and death of the last Romanov family, as well as to what really took place in Russian during that turbulent era, then we highly recommend our book, which offers previously unpublished materials strictly from primary and archival sources. Our book brings to light a multitude of unknown and unrevealed facts, which evince that many truths remain silenced or distorted to this day. Such are:
      • The achievements and great reforms of Tsar Nicholas' reign.

Even though it was a remarkable production, still the film suffers from a significant amount of historical errors and inconsistencies. The best movie to date about the Romanov family is the Russian production "Romanovs: A Crowned Family", which, however, covers the last chapter of their life, starting from the break of the February Revolution and following the family to their murder. You can watch the movie with English subtitles (in 2 parts) on our channel at: th-cam.com/play/PLEM95JSxM6FR-miwyY82OVCLCaaCfPcZF.html

When is humanity going to truly give credence to peace by adopting the “live and let live” philosophy. We are all part of the global tapestry which needs colour, texture and form for its beauty to exist ... maybe that is what we need to embrace most of all !!

It's so sad to see the execution of the Romanovs. They were very religious. I saw lots of videos about their religious activities. They looked so polite and elegant. The communists made this world worse and worse.

This is what it is your own family played out so big so public, would be the once to sell you or deny you shelter. I have seen this play out in my own family. And I am so afraid to trust. Imagine your own cousin not standing or helping you?!!

Glad you enjoyed it, Nivedita! We have many videos on our channel, which you will surely find very interesting.
      • The events of the 1905 revolution and Bloody Sunday.
      • Russia’s and Tsar Nicholas’ involvement in WW1.
      • The plots and conspiracies to overthrow Tsar Nicholas from his throne.
      • The myth of the “Bread Revolution” and the truth about the February 1917 coup.
If you like to learn more, you can visit our official website: www.romanovs.eu/en-book
In the pages of the book, the eye of the reader’s mind will be apprised of the portraits of the Romanov family's psyche, depicted with the colors of their very own words from the personal writings of the family and of those who lived very close to them.
