The financial sanctions on Iran are now having a real impact. Earlier this week, people in Tehran openly complained that the Iranian currency is drastically losing value against the dollar, pushing up prices. Meanwhile, Iran's leadership is already dealing with a threat from Binyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli leader, who delivered a strong speech at the United Nations against the Iranian nuclear programme. There is also the situation in Syria, where Iran's relationship with the Assad regime is forcing the Iranian leadership to take sides. And then there is Egypt: A new leader, President Morsi, is changing the geopolitical landscape. Is this an opening for Iran? We sat down with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran's president, in New York, to discuss where things stand and where we are headed.
At Al Jazeera English, we focus on people and events that affect people's lives. We bring topics to light that often go under-reported, listening to all sides of the story and giving a 'voice to the voiceless.'
Reaching more than 270 million households in over 140 countries across the globe, our viewers trust Al Jazeera English to keep them informed, inspired, and entertained.
Our impartial, fact-based reporting wins worldwide praise and respect. It is our unique brand of journalism that the world has come to rely on.
We are reshaping global media and constantly working to strengthen our reputation as one of the world's most respected news and current affairs channels.

Mr Ahmadinejad is a well known academician, a brilliant orator. He is an honest man and deserved to be respected. A great politician and well respected. I admire his speeches and so to those of you who listens to his answers to questions would benefit what he says.

He did show much statesmanship , especially towards the end. The mental flexibility to coherently think from an others perspective that he demonstrated during his statesmanship and his propensity show himself as a supporter of ridged ideologues co-exist easily in his environment, my question is can he bring understanding to ideologues in his country. That is can he impart his ability to see from another person perspective unto the ideologues so a compromise can be reached?

But we are seeing changes in the world on a "conscious level" that are more positive in the making since the time of the Arab Spring and the world wide protesting making impact and also seeing the changes within those power constructs - small steps can lead into big ones.
Is December 21, 2012 upons those minds? Perhaps?
It is not the end but is an opportunity for real change on a global scale - what was hidden will be revealed & those effects will transform in unity as well as dynamically.

To both you and Samer: The problem here is religion full stop. Look at how you're talking to each other because of what? Religion. All because of 2 books written thousands of years ago, by authors you have never met and just heard bizarre unbelievable stories about. We must try to be human beings first and religion should always come second. What's happening in the middle east is tragic to watch.
