Blue macaws Blu (Jesse Eisenberg), Jewel (Anne Hathaway) and their three children are comfortably settled in the city -- perhaps too comfortably. Jewel fears that the children are becoming more like humans than birds. After learning that she and Blu may not be the last blue macaws after all, Jewel decides that their little family should visit the Amazon jungle. It's there that Blu meets his formidable father-in-law (Andy Garcia) and goes beak-to-beak with archnemesis Nigel (Jemaine Clement).

Nigel and his goons are hilarious in this, and the musical numbers are on par with, if not better than those in the original.
Usually sequels tend to suck (especially Disney) but not this time. This movie is ALMOST as good as the first one.
After seeing the first film, I was excited to see Rio 2 on the big screen. When I did, I had a fun time! The characters, old and new were good and the new songs were great too. Really wish that a third film was made, though I shudder to think how it’d turn out with Disney having the rights to Fox, after what happened to Ice Age and all.
The songs in Rio 2 are very amazing. And Blue's children are very cute.

I loved “Beautiful Creatures” as well as Kristin Chenoweth’s singing (she has Broadway talent especially)
I enjoyed Rio two The performance they did for Nigel was really hysterical, dramatic and too many references which were all funny or this character overall it’s a great sequel to Rio!!!

This sequel is very good. It's definitely got quite a few hits like the first Rio. This sequel is pretty good about on par with the first. But the soccer scene always gave me second hand embarrassment though lol. But Beautiful Creatures is probably one of the most beautiful things I saw on screen. RIP Bluesky studios. (In 2023 there are 180 of these Spix Macaws alive in captivity in the sanctuaries; Extinct in the wild but they aren't extinct in general completely) 💙💙💙💙
Umm, 52 were released into the wild in 2022 and are doing well

I get both sides Jewel is just happy to be home with her long lost family, Plus she wants her kids to have the life she had and be taught nature skills, it is the reason Jewel wanted to come to the Amazon's in the first place, and Jewel is not domesticated bird like Blu, she is free spirit bird, but Jewel should understand where Blu is coming base on his childhood with Linda, and she is a relationship now, she has to work together with her husband and comprise and find ways through conflict and Blu moving in always a tough thing and change is not easy but it is part of life, and he is trying his best, but also Blu is a father now and Jewel is right, he can't just think about himself, he has to think about his kids and what's best for their lives, plus whether Jewels father likes it or not, Jewel does want Blu to be a part of her family and flock, "Happy Wife, Happy life".

Compared to the first one it comes a little short to how entertaining the 1st one was. I feel they could've deepen a little more on their kids at least. The music is good tho. Maybe my biggest grip is how the plot goes its way to actually paint Blu as the apathetic one when since the start he was able to get out of his confort zone just to please Jewel.
Still a very enjoyable movie, if you finish the 1st one and still want to see a little more of Blu and Jewel then it delivers.
I was kinda sad abou Jewel just forcing Blu to be like them and not looking for his side (they changed the part they fight)
I love this movie! My only gripe is that they keep interchanging jungle and rainforest when they are 2 different ecosystems. Rainforests are higher in elevation and jungles are generally at the base of the mountains the rainforest sits on. Also, rainforests have a canopy so thick that sunlight can't get through, making the underbrush less dense than that of a jungle, whose canopy allows a lot more light to touch the ground, making the underbrush super dense and hard to move through.
That's my only nitpick. This movie is great 😊
I actually really enjoyed this sequel. Sucks that Blue Sky got bought out by Disney. It would have been cool to see a cool to see the a third movie.

@@RYMAN1321 And why not? If Blue Sky’s project Nimona was able to see the light of day (via Netflix) after they were shut down, then perhaps Rio 3 can happen if given to the right studio.

another curiosity: the plot of the movie really happens, there are a corrupt system of illegal wood hidden in the amazon jungle, its almost Impossible to find, and when are found, the man working there doesnt know who are "the bosses" or who is on charge, its really almost Impossible to find those people, and they threaten any ecologist that tries to do some research or protectice program. Sorry for bad english 😅, im from Brazil and study enviroment engeneering
I just watched this for the first time recently and I didn’t think it was a bad sequel although I still prefer the first one I still enjoyed the colourfulness and the songs and I didn’t mind the new story either and I did like Blu and Jewel having there own family and good to Nigel as well 😊😊😊 thanks for the reaction Tim 👍👍👍
I wish the human villain was indeed the buyer, would've been a great way to tie the movies together and make him a bigger threat.
My problem with this movie, is that it makes Jewel clueless and selfish. Clueless to the actions and rudeness of her father against her own husband, abd selfish to a point where she says Blu is thinking of himself, all while she has done nothing but do what SHE wants, since they made the trip to the Amazon.
And because of the toxic "happy wife, happy life" idea, all of Blu's friends are slanted in her favor and keep telling Blu "think about her".
But that goes two ways, is she thinking about him? If only the husabnd is thinking about the wife, he will be miserable and feel unloved and unappreciated.
Jewel herself learns NO lesson from this adventure, she doesn't apologise to Blu for not thinking of him, doesn't apologise for not noticing how bad her dad has been treating him, doesn't have a stern talk with Roberto about how she's married and is tired of his advances, nor a stern talk to her dad about how Blu is her chosen husband, and that he has to deal with it, or risk losing her in his life.
Just saying, this movie missed out on a lot of potential plot points and has some very poor writing on Jewel's part.
I LIKE the movie, but it could've been better, I prefer the first one.
Fr you're so right, I can't stand how jewel and her father so fake in this movie. You know after being married to blu for so longyou think she would have been more understanding and be supportive of him not agreeing her father.
I already like this movie just because it shows a little more of Brazil, beyond the limits of Rio de Janeiro
One being more comedic like it's predecessors and other about Blu finding his long lost brother Berto alongside Angela female hunter who wants to kill blue macaws
Too bad we never got RIO 3. I hate you, Disney!

Not as good as the first movie but still good. Main problems was too many plots going on and I didn’t like how Blu was being treated by everyone. The best part of the movie was the Kristen Chenoweth frog.

I love this movie. It was my favorite animated movie.
This sequel is a worthy successor to the 2011 original and should be retitled as Meet the Parrots.
What made me disappointed in this sequel is that Blu didn’t discovered about his past. Who are Blu’s parents?
And also Jewel didn’t stood up to her father about Blu.
Blu remembers his childhood but doesn't seem to probably know about his parents.

Well actually, this is pretty realistic, one wants one thing and another wants something else, plus jewel thought everyone was dead and thats why she got so attached to her family
I didnt like Jewel in this one she doesent like when blu is protective of them and is caring about them she doesent like that but when he stops being over protective she says he is "only thinking about himself". wtf??????
Blu just doesn't want anything bad happening to them even the reason why the whole rainforest is in danger, and especially Eduardo who doesn't seem to trust Blu and think of him as a "pet". Some birds doesn't know what humans are like to be in "family".
I remember watching the trailers for this. And in my opinion, this is the most unbelievable, pretty funny, musically amazing, but ultimately kinda forgettable sequel. What? It’s still better than some of the other movies Blue Sky Studios made. So I still think it’s good enough.

Fun fact did you know the Amazon rainforest is overdeveloped farmland that was that overdeveloped cuz there was no humans to take care of that farmland that's where the Amazon rainforest is is overdeveloped farmland cuz you know you see remnants of what looks like agriculture devices that were left from the people that were wiped off in the Amazon because you find a lot of abandoned human societies and Amazon that's where most Amazon game Force came from in real life so it's kind of funny how we complain about the Amazon being destroyed and people cutting down trees to make more land for beef cows yeah that's what

I don't know if you know but this sequel was as similar to the REAL incident in the Amazon Rainforest, with Blue Macaws going extinct but then months or years later, they were alive again (Please correct me if I'm wrong about this info but I was fully sure this actually happened) 🤓🤓
Surya is still technically in the first movie to write about their species in the modern day being a golden state they are it is technically accurate because there's about 400 left back in 2022 though there was a wildlife foundation that actually in conservation is that introduced 200 back into the wild it's about 400 this disease days so if there are number goes down more than 400 they'll probably will be extinct in real life

Rio 2 wasn’t any good, in my opinion. What ruins the film for me is how mean spirited it is, which mainly comes from Jewel’s family who judges Blu for being a pet, they act like jerks to him and they tell him he doesn’t belong in the wild. I know it’s one of those things where someone tries to fit into a place they’re not used to, but the way they do it make the characters very unlikable. The way Blu gets treated throughout the film makes it very annoying to watch sometimes as well.
