Only a few things makes me unabiously smile and be happy without any moral doubt, like NFTs failing, epscially of beloved franchises
It says a lot about the NFT space when *neopets* of all things can't manage an NFT launch without having to admit it was a failure. Neopets are literally digital collectibles! If anyone can make 'JPEGs but they have value' it's neopets, and even they failed.There are no good NFT projects, not a single one.

as someone who has literally been on neopets since i was like 6, and is now.. a grown 19 year old ? nothing made me happier than seeing the “under new management” announcement. i’ve been in the r/neopets discord since like 2018 or 2019 i think ?? and it’s been so refreshing seeing so many announcements and posts from actual TNT staff there with such enthusiasm. like it’s genuinely clear that actual neopets staff is so happy to have the reins back in their hands.
also, the borovan “i f//ing hate neopets i wish i never made it because of this chat” incident after everyone clowned on him for trying to use the server to shill his nft propaganda lives in my brain 24/7 and i still can’t believe i was there to witness that convo in real time

I'm willing to bet that most active Neopets users in recent years are adults who played as kids. Still, it presents itself as a kid's game.
You gotta talk about how adam (creator of neopets) went into the neocord and posted a pic of himself flipping everyone off and saying he wished he never created neopets bc we all hated nfts

While it's sad that part of the FAQ is "why should we believe that this will get better", it means that at least the team knows how they feel and might actually do something about it
I left when they converted all the pets. They took some very expressive designs with a lot of good art for body language, and turned them into paper doll puppets for the sake of dress-up with expressions slapped on like stickers, and I just didn't find that as interesting. Still. I'd like to see how they plan on revitalizing it
I was never a fan of the idea of pet customization. It was a cool idea in theory, but it just enabled people to act like snobs because they could afford cooler items.
I prefer the previous versions too but I get why they did it the game needed to grow and to innovate
I definitely like most of the unconverted versions better, but I know a lot of people really enjoy customizing. Like many players, I want them to finally get around to releasing an item to unconvert our pets so we can have the best of both worlds
yeah, honestly i don't think there is a single thing they can do to make the site meaningfully good again. as far as i'm concerned, the site died in 2007 and there is just no point to it anymore. unless they want to fully revamp all pet art to be charming and expressive once more, but i know they won't because the site's income hinges on selling those damn pet clothes -_-
Goatlings has been here since 2012 i think and they never had pet dress up and have never changed the pet designs and yet the old goat designs flow just as much as the old ones. Its hard to mess up when its just goats. Like.
Cryptobros coming in pretending to be lifelong fans just to gas the Neopet Metaverse up to inflate its value only to be rugpulled immediately afterwards has got to be some of the most karmic shit I've ever seen.

Today I went to a bookstore and there was a Neopets cookbook. The recipes were 90% terrible or “no human would make this” but aesthetically it was 10/10, gorgeous full page color and art and clearly whoever made those food abominations tried real hard to make things visually right. The Haunted Hummus was sculpted to have an irl spooky face in it. I would like to thank the Neopets cookbook for making me (a 28 year old adult) look like a freak as my dad stood behind me wondering why someone would have a recipe for a Plain Omelette and why it looked SO terrible
The most fun part about the abject failure of the NFT project was how genuinely and personally offended the team got that the actual playerbase didn’t buy into their cultish attitude.

This seems to be missing the recent annoucments from the con party. The 3D NFT game is not scrapped. It's being reworked with out the NFTs. "World of Neopets"
If so, they'd better do something to make the gameplay loop interesting.

as a neopets fan, i can't wait to see what they do independently. the NFTs were a terrible idea when they couldve done something with physical pieces of art of merch. one thing i wish they would do is re-release or release new neopet plushes.

I may have been a toddler when mlp season 1-3 was happening but I still really appreciate the coverage on it. i still can’t believe how many things have tried to make nft projects and failed. it’s very funny
As someone who played the alpha of the game they were working on (I'm surprised they let people who didn't financially support the Metaverse get their hands on it) it seemed like the foundation of something that could be really cool if it wasn't steeped so heavily in normalizing cryptocurrency. It seems like they're repurposing the assets for their new game World of Neopets which I'm tentatively excited to play as someone who still regularly logs into the site. I really do hope they can pull it back from its abysmal state and give us the quality of life updates we've been begging for, including maybe better implementing UCs though I'm not sure they ever will.
I would bet real money, that this is just an attempt to still wring cash out of the userbase, but they've seen that using the word NFT will get them slaughtered by the community. Mark my words, this project - if it even comes out - will be yet another cash grab.
The guy responsible for the NFTs in the first place, now has even MORE control over neopets.
I guarantee, this will only continue down the same path, this time with a new coat of paint, with the flaws more carefully hidden from the public eye.
People will be taken advantage of. I just hope they aren't hurt too badly when this inevitably crashes and burns.

I always forget NFTs exist and every time I hear about them it’s news to me. That’s how bad of an idea NFTs are. If people forget they exist within a day of hearing about them there’s no hope for success with that idea

A brand like neopets is honestly so lucky to have lasted this long, niche as it was. It's a remnant of the "old" internet, so much of its current publicity hinged on hinged on nostalgia, and yet there's still an active fanbase and userbase.

I played Neopets for 17 years and quit when they introduced the NFTs. I'm still waiting to get back on to see if they fumble things again, but I desperately hope they get their act together, because it was always such a big part of my life.

But seriously, new management has made a ton of much needed changes in the past month. (Integrating Ruffle so flash games are playable again, bug fixes, page fixes, etc.) Hopefully they keep listening to the userbase :)

as someone who was a frequent writer/comic artist in the neopian times... I would LOVE to see this positive direction really take off and revive the site! I was heartbroken the last time (pretty sure it was early this year) I tried revisiting the site just to find that 90% of it is still broken due to the death of flash. I left the Neopets community after the NFTs were announced. I don’t think I’ll be going back since leaving had given me so much time and I started exercising and drawing again… but I’m so happy the community I love is finally getting what it deserves.
Hi Izzy, really loved the video. I have a request, I think it would be awesome if you started including subtitles in your videos. If you have a written script especially, it is not that difficult to include subtitles. I am a person with processing difficulties, but subtitles can be useful to many demographics of people, whether they have processing issues, have hearing loss, are Deaf, or are just in a noisy environment. They really do help a lot and it's disappointing to see it's not a standard that a lot of TH-camrs strive for.
That aside, I love you content a lot, you are a wonderfully unique creator. I adore your fashion and the makeup that you do, as well as your sense of humor. Thank you for your videos! 💙

As an older millenial I did not grow up with these games you talk about but I watch all of your videos. I love learning about these niche little communities and really got into your channel after watching videos about the chaotic drama that was worlds like club peguin and others. Keep it up but also feel free to take breaks. There is a lot of content on youtube to keep people happy while you rest

i’ve recently gotten back into neopets and i can definitely see improvement. a lot (not all, but a lot) of the games have been converted to html5 and work on desktop and mobile, a lot of the pages have been made mobile friendly, and it overall still feels like i’ve come home.
there are ads now but i don’t find them to be intrusive and they don’t make sound which is nice. there’s a paid option to remove them but im it’s not worth doing so cause they can be adblocked
