My old man has a bolt action sears marksman in 22lr. Thing can drill tacks subsonics if you can see em and sounds like a pellet gun shooting bein it's barrel is like 22in.

my first time shooting a gun was a 20ga. break action at a chuch camp, lol.
first handgun about a year later was a Ruger P89, I think it was, followed swiftly by a _S&W 500._ that one was fun.
Everybody talking down about the. 22 long rifle cartridge. I can assure you that little cartridge has put more game on the table than many others, even big game given how long it has been around it has filled the task time and time again. Not to mention how many human lives it has taken. Yes, there are many that are way better and more powerful but don't ever discount the .22 lr by any means.
I was only 5 years old my dad would bring deer rabbits pigs he told me son all you have to do is aim good and this 22 will bring it down

I own CZ-455 in.22 LR (slightly different from CZ-457) and it easily makes 0.5 MOA at 100 m. CZs are extremely well built rifles.

Same here but in Hmr, also a Brno 581 with a sound moderator on the end and you can only here the sound of the bolt when firing.

Loved my Cz 457. It was one tight & smooth firearm, excellent trigger system. With competition ready accuracy. A rock solid platform & cheap to shoot. While maintaining your hand & eye coordination of practice. Practice doesn't have to kick like a mule.

I have a BSA .22 sportsman five have been using it since my childhood. It is a beautiful gun and quite accurate.
A .22 bolt is one of the funnest guns to shoot. popping heads off dandelions from 15 to 30 m.

CZ makes some of the best rimfire rifles i have tried ruger savage and so on it will jam but the cz sako and tikka is absolutely perfect in fitt and finish
Reminds me of my dad's old sears marksman that he got as a handy down from his brother. Heavy extremely long and quiet with subsonic ammo. Smooth with a trigger so light a mouse could fart on it to set it off.

That's a beautiful Marlin I remember my first 22 was a Marlin single-shot bolt-action very good to learn on still have it to this day I'm thinking about giving it to my son when he gets older

That is not a Marlin, That is a CZ calibre 22 of República Checa. I have a Marlin and too is a very well weapon.

Greetings from Northern Ireland. .22lr is my favourite caliber aside from 12 gauge of course. Those 2 are the only 2 you’ll ever need
Those are great calibers. I personally would want a third rifle caliber like 308/7.62 NATO for the vast deserts in West Texas where I’m from

@@DougsterCanada1 you might try Norma Tac .22. It’s not expensive but very consistent for the price. I’ve gotten good results from Federal Gold Medal Target as well

I like it . Beautiful lines and seems to function well. Whats the price tag and where can they be found . Big 5 is losing out by not carrying the CZ line. That wood stock and its for-end really are easy on the eyes and alluring. I am hooked like a fish. I want one for every family member.
I picked mine up for about 480 bucks online. I can’t link on TH-cam but if you do a search for a gun store whose name has to do with family but also firearms, I’m sure you’ll find it:)
I’m loving the 457 Trainer so far, smooth bolt, crisp trigger, feeds every type of ammo I own, and it’s got the best iron sights on any .22 I’ve ever seen

So it's possible to train for .308 while using .223 if you pick loads properly and manage to get the ones that have relatively same ballistics (bullet drop).
Do you know if .22 can be used the same way and for what calibers, if yes?
.22 trajectory, depending on the load, can be pretty close to pistol caliber carbine trajectory, from 9mm all the way to 44 Magnum. You just have to find a load in each that’s comparable

Love the irons, I wish more sporting rifles would come with fixed tangent sights, I still prefer my SMLE over my M70 for white tail for this reason

They apparently have a Ruger 22lr precision with a long action. I would imagine that would make a better trainer for manipulating the bolt but no doubt more complicated!

Yes, the sight can be adjusted so the bullet will impact from 25 meters up to 200 meters

I have a old .22 Gil Gun. You can shoot it in single shot bolt action or hit the switch and do regular .22 semi auto. Also holds like 16 rounds. Any of you ever shoot one of those?
I’ve never shot one but I’ve wanted one for a long time
I learned to shoot with a Stevens (maybe) that was like that. Push the operating handle in for strait pull bolt action. Pull it out for semiautomatic. I see them occasionally at gun shows but have never wanted to get another.

One of the local clubs around my way owns 12 of them. I don't think I'd be lying if I said I'd
fired everyone. All of them were capable of 1/2" 5 shot groups at 50m. Perhaps Anschutz are slightly better but as value proposition, CZ .22's are in a league of their own.
I bet with the right ammo and a quiet can the loudest thing would be the pull of the trigger😂

Most European countries have not given up guns, they're very legal.
You're probably thinking the UK in which guns are not banned and many people who do shoot use CZ or BRNO and predominantly with sound moderators that you call them suppressors.
