  • My first and successful attempt at lowering my cruiser using custom made lowering bones. Total drop - 2" lower.
    Not only it looks much better but also handles better as well. The centre of gravity is lower making riding and especially cornering an absolute pleasure.
    I have second set up for sale so if you're interested, please drop me a message. Hot rolled steel, 35mm x 6mm, 153.4mm C to C hole distance. Double coated with Hammerite gloss black.
    If you enjoy watching my videos and would like to contribute to me being able to carry on doing it, you can use "Super Thanks" button below the video. Every little helps.

    Your video needs more light and more sound. You need you show what the hell your doing i kinda have an idea but shorter rear shocks would be one hell of alot easer wow notvimpressed sorry

      Thanks for commenting on a 7 year old video. Shorter rear shocks would be potentially easier but a hell of a lot more expensive. Not impressed by your logic, sorry.

    Hello. Is it also possible to lower the front of the bike?? By adjusting the fork into the T fixation. I have tried it today but not succeed...

    If you lowered it 2 inches or more, did you have to cut the side kickstand? If so, for every inch of lowering your bike, how many inches do you recommend to shortening the kickstand?

      @Maraggie  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Nope, didn't touch the sidestand at all, it was fine.

      Yes, perhaps someone will advise. As for sidestand, no, you won't have to alter it.

    Looks easy enough. The hell with paying for this. Nice looking pipes what are they? Doing 3 thing to my bike this summer. Exhaust lowering and white walls.

    • @Maraggie
      @Maraggie  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. The pipes are Jardine Rumblers...or ear splitters as some call them :) Very loud and not in a good way..without baffles they have that tinny metallic sound to them that drills a hole in your ear. I wrapped the baffles and installed lollies inside and they're still damn loud but the proper "rumble" loud. (got videos of most of it on my channel here).
      All the best and good luck with mods.

    what effect did this have on the rake and trail of the bike? does the bike feel " lighter" in the front end with the back lowered? Any chatter in the front tire when cornering? Thanks for the videos, I have an 03 volusia 800,, love it. Mine had the lowering dogbones installed when I bought it and I was thinking of changing back to the stock bones.

    • @Maraggie
      @Maraggie  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      None that I could notice my friend. Just because the back sits slightly lower doesn't mean the rake/trail will be changed as the result (if it does, it's minimal). It still is after all, the same angle for "wheel to frame".
      Bike feels and handles a bit better due to centre of gravity being shifted lower. No chatter in the wheel.
      I reckon if you lift the bike up to stock bones, you'll hate it from 1st minute ;)
      All the best,
      Marcin

    I see you didn't have to adjust the shock or nothing correct....i just purchased an 07 Suzuki boulevard and im planning on doing this but I was thinking 3" lower

      @Maraggie  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Noe. Nah, no need to. Spring tension is a personal thing and I just left mine as it was. If you're end up too bouncy, crank it up :) All the best.

      3 is to much for that bike

      I've dropped mine 3"",looks awesome ! unless you hit a pot hole you shouldn't bottom out. Having said that, I weigh 150 lb. and you can always adjust the shock to fine tune.

      Mine is lowered idk how much. I rub the pavement constantly. Have to take it slow on the curves. I live in the mountains of Tennessee

    Did you ever do an ape hanger install video?

    • @Maraggie
      @Maraggie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. No I haven't I'm afraid.

  • @YZdude
    @YZdude 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    also can you not have the back seat on when lowered because of the bolt? I would just switch it around.

    • @Maraggie
      @Maraggie  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Brandon diesel Of course you can have back seat on... no problems at all because lowering does not affect the bolt placement.

    • @Maraggie
      @Maraggie  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Maraggie Also, DO IT DO IT DO IT! Bike not only looks much better but also handles like a champ.

    • @YZdude
      @YZdude 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well on mine the back seat bolt is long and with it lowered the bolt would be closer to the tire so if I had a passenger I would be worried of it pushing into my tire. But obviously their is ways around that haha. I'll be doing it this winter and I'm doing 10" apes along with it.
      Thanks!

  • @YZdude
    @YZdude 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm just now doing this to mine and my bottom bolt will not come out my frame is blocking it.
    did you not run into this issue?

    • @Maraggie
      @Maraggie  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Brandon diesel Hi. Well done for doing it! :) Yes, it does catch on the frame. I explain it at 6:22 - you need to push the internal spacer in a bit to allow the bolt to come out at an angle.

    • @YZdude
      @YZdude 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** yeah I figured that out shortly after putting that down.
      Bike looks good but I'm worried about my fender bolts hitting my tire I may have to cut them

    • @Maraggie
      @Maraggie  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Brandon diesel I'd say "not a chance". I rode mine 2-up with a passenger, both of us about 25-30stone, and the shock set mid way... I bottomed out only once and it was the shock bottoming out, not wheel hitting the tire. And... welcome to slammed club my friend :]

    • @YZdude
      @YZdude 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** they are just real close to the tire on the inside. I'll have to have some people put some weight on it to know for sure though.

    • @Maraggie
      @Maraggie  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Brandon diesel Absolutely...best to test it all out.

    What about lowering the front?

    • @Maraggie
      @Maraggie  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Why would you want to do something like that? Chop the springs I guess... I'd never do it though.

    • @peledejacare

      Wouldn't be weird the rear lowered and the front higher? Can I do the front to be even!?
