    Aluminum windows & doors have come a long way from their inefficient origins. Today's aluminum products are thermally improved (aka thermally broken) to impede the transfer of heat from outside to in (or vice versa) so you can have the strength and durability of aluminum with efficiency to boot.

    The salesman at the lumberyard says, Windsor can’t send an order for four months, whereas Marvin can get them here in under 6 weeks. I am in New England. Reports are Marvin is really trying to capture the market here. The contractors seem to be catered to very well by Marvin too.

    Love your vids. Trying to decide between Marvin Elevate or Ultimate windows. I like the Elevate for the 5X9 that we're going to install, but for the rest of the house, which we'll eventually have to do, I like the ultimate. Not sure how mismatching would look once installed.

    Thank you Jeff for helping us out. There are so many options. I would like to choose a fiberglass exterior and a wood interior. Marvin is good, but so expensive and the dealer in my Denver area is hard to work with. Any other window manufactures to choose from??

      You could look at the Milgard Ultra. It's going to cost less than Marvin but not be nearly as nice.

    Hello Jeff. Enjoying all your informative videos. Thank you for the great information and the transparency. I’m in the process of getting proposals for replacement windows for my home. I’m in the Chicagoland area where, as you know, the weather is unpredictable. I’m liking the Marvin fiberglass windows. I’m confused about the Essential series and the Infinity series. Both claim to be the Ultrex 8 fiberglass material. So, what is the difference between these and why is there a large price difference between them. I would greatly appreciate your input. Thank you. It’s too bad you’re not servicing the Chicagoland area.

    • @HoustonWindowExperts

      Thank you for watching and for your question. They're essentially the same product but one comes with more options. I like to describe it as a difference between Chevrolet and cadillac. They have pretty much the same powertrain and manufacturing process, but one includes more options. If you do not need the nicer options of the infinity product, you should stick to the essentials.

    Disagree on the Marvin compliments. We just replaced a second set of Marvin casement windows on our 1988 house. They were wood on the inside and the sashes on both sets rotted. They had just been replaced in 2002 when we bought the house, then the second set went bad too.

    Hi Jeff, As always really enjoyed your video!!
    I came up with 27 window companies from the time you said to enter into comments until the end of the video....lol👍
    I have one for you Jeff, you like Cardinal, so without researching, how many Cardinal glass plants are there?

    • @HoustonWindowExperts
      @HoustonWindowExperts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm..... I should have known that you would know a LOT of companies. I'm not looking.... Not looking..... I'd guess 11?

      @@HoustonWindowExperts Had a lot of experience with a lot of window companies before I retired, so many memories, mostly good and a few less good...plus I am a total geek about this stuff.
      Good guess at 11, since that is how many IGU manufacturing plants Cardinal has, but over all there are actually 42 production factories - the 11 IG plants, 7 float plants, 8 coating plants, 4 laminating plants, and 12 tempering plants - 2 for high speed/high volume tempering, and 10 for custom tempering. And while there are 12 plants specifically dedicated to tempering glass, all of the IG, coating, and laminating plants also have tempering lines as well.
      In addition to the production factories, Cardinal has an IG distribution center, 3 R&D facilities (glass and IG's, coatings, and lamination), and an automation production group facility where they manufacture most of the internal production equipment used by the IG plants, plus a scattering of other facilities.

    • @HoustonWindowExperts

      My neighbors used them. They look nice enough from the street, but I'm not sure I would go with them. I was thinking they were a rebrand of another window. Neighbor told me they did the whole install from the outside...which I'm not sure is necessarily a good thing. If they can do a better installation by coming inside, I think they should.
