So glad I just watched this review before buying. That 252cc has nowhere near enough power. I've owned 8 or 9 different snow-blowers over the years and neither one ever lost power before traction. Thanks for posting. You just saved me a ton of aggravation!
I own one my friend... great great snowblower and that’s a must here in wonderful “Hawaiian Tropic” Chicago!!! Great video again and thank you for all you do for us day in and day out!!! Bob
Thank you for the video👍🏻 I bought mine today (08 OCT 21)! Wasn’t going to be caught with my skivvies down again with the amount of snow we got in Chicago last year.
I have the 826 OHE powerMax but with the high density plastic Shute. I wonder why that one is bogging down. No matter how much snow I go through mine never bogs down. Love Toro. The beast!!!!
Nice machine Boss we got blasted last week (though not as much as you guys) here in the lower Hudson Valley in NY about 20 inches. Supposed to get 4-8" tomorrow on Super Bowl Sunday. I would only go Toro or Ariens at this point 👍🏽
Just did 1st pass on my Cub Cadet 26" 3 stage today's snow fall. Sanitation closed up driveway 7 times on last storm. 3rd stage of machine made short work of it.
This video made me choose the 1030 :( I don't want one that bogs down like that. Hopefully the 302cc motor does a better job. Awesome machines! Just picked mine up today. Can't wait to use it.
as a lazy fuck who sometimes has to clear two snowfalls in one.. this actually did well for 8hp. What happens is 2.5' becomes 2' of snow with the same moisture content. It melts a bit and mixes in, freezes, etc. Makes for a much tougher job. I have this same model. That said, a larger engine would really be nice lol. You should bog that thing down until she blows and then make a video of your toro with a 2 cylinder harbor freight engine :D
Wish all small equipment came with a electric start like that instead of trying to figure a way to put a battery on some of these machines like putting a motor with electric start on a 50 year old tiller but tiller to small to put a battery I like that @Tool Boss
Thanks for the video, Tool Boss! I am trying to find the fully assembled dimension of this HD 828 snow blower, but I got conflicting information from Toro web site and Home Depot, some said it's 58D x 47H x 31.5W but some said the height is 35". I am confused. I think the height point from joystick to ground I assume.. I have a tight space, I just want to make sure it will fit. Do you have that information? That would be appreciated....
It's better practice to cut the snow with a shovel & let it fall down, the snowblower won't bog down as much & it's not labor intensive, you're still not shoveling, just breaking the snow up.
I have this in the back of my truck. Hearing yours bog down like that makes me really sad they did not have the 302CC 1028. I couldn't give a shit about heated handgrips, but powa is powa. We've got a foot of snow coming tonight. I guess we'll see how it does.
Hi Heath. Just wondering how you like the 828? Purchased the HD 928, 2019 and wish I got the 1028 instead the first year but now realize the 9 has plenty of power for whatever condition you have. Even 3' end of driveway Snow piles without bogging out! The 828 is probably just a little slower to get through.
@@PFred-ew4zd lol, I powered it up. The "storm" was a bust and we only got about 4 inches. I started blowing snow as I left the garage. I made it about 30 feet and the drive mechanism for the wheels broke with a "clunk". I returned it and ordered the 30"Ariens with the 306cc engine. Where the drive mech broke it was probably 2.5 inches deep. Very disappointing. I'm hoping to have better luck with the Ariens 😀
@@PFred-ew4zd I didn't even take the cover off to find out. I was in a rush to get the driveway clear so my wife could drive to work so I borrowed the neighbors thrower and picked up a trailer rental and loaded it. The customer service rep at home depot said "we can probably fix this" to which I replied "so could I, but it died in the first minute of using it so I'm not interested.". If it broke again next season I would have had only myself to blame knowing it has such a weak point
I am deciding between an Ariens and the Toro...... For all those eXpert engineers who are saying this machine is underpowered..... Open the eyes and look at what he is trying to go through. That snow is deep and compacted. Any machine would have an issue with that unless you get a cat front loader. Come on use common sense and stay off the internet.
Lol. I’m between the ariens and toro as well. Both look great. Ariens build quality may be ever so slightly better. Toro joystick looks way better. Debating on the 28 inch 252cc powermax vs the 30 inch 302cc powermax. Snow throwing is a 4 foot difference only. Ariens is similar in price but you can get a 28 inch ariens with over 300 cc motor.
@@toolboss8410 Two stage by it's design is slower at removing snow than single stage because there is a delay going from the single stage to the second stage. The 2 stage main auger moves slower than traditional single stage. Research the snow master 824. It's a better design.

He doesn’t have it turned up to the rabbit that’s why!
Something wrong there, my 828 will always loose traction before ejection. Impossible to stall

A powerhouse for its size and weight. Great job! I live in Chicago, and I kind of want one😁
👌👌👍👍

That motor sure didn't sound cherry pie!!!! Lol that motor was bogging down to the point of stalling!!! Lol blow on!!!
I can hear the Mrs. - try not to make a mess. 10 secs later - sawzall doing it's thing
U need a Ariens big block 308 cc or there bigger 400cc motor would of went through like butter

Great review! Exactly what I needed to see.
Snowing heavy again here in Philly. Boss get ready for round 2

I'm impressed.
You guys got hammered.
Killer brother
As someone who lives in the south, I cannot imagine that much snow lol
Nice demonstration Boss That machine is a beast @Tool Boss
Yeah she is ... Great mid size blower for money
Wonder if the Milwaukee Top Off could start the Snow Blower???
No
Great breakdown.
Thanks buddy 👍👍😉
Back it up Mike!
Watch his freakin legs

The specs are correct 👍
Can you show us how the shoot deflector works. Is it easy to change direction?
I've had it a week. Used it twice and the auger cable keeps snapping off. why?
Hey Boss- I need a good rotary hammer at a good value. What do u recommend?
Bosch bulldog is a good starter

That snow is 3 times taller then the machine and it's just eating it like it's candy @Tool Boss
👍👍👍❄️❄️
Boss man what's going on great video!
Ego 2 -stage don't think it could handled that 😂
Wonder how many amps that starter draws? And if a Cordless Power station could start it 🤔😉
👍👍 Thanks Boss
Here in my part of NJ (10 min outside Philadelphia) we got a total of 6” 😞 I was killing it on my tractor plow though
Boss when do they start putting snow blowers on sale?

The Snow Master 824 has a higher plowing capacity of 2800 pounds per minute versus 2200 of this model and it's much cheaper and easier to handle.
There only 24" and not a rrue two stage and has shear pins and doesnt have commercial gear drive 😉

It almost weights 200 pounds less and has the same horsepower.
Not even close in comparing the two machines. Totally two different designs....... OMG!
My taotao 6.5hp did better than name brand blower with little mod on it for snow that fall for two days

Wowwzzer!!! Great Demonstration BOSS! How bout dat Global Warming !? 🤔🙄😃😃😅😂🤣👍👍👍😁✌🏻🇺🇸
Broken in 2 seasons or less.
Buy the honda.
Honda is definitely a step above. I’ve owned both and it’s not even a comparison. Honda hands down
The most annoying music ever.
