Part 17 Suzuki Samurai Fix Gas Leak and Frozen Elec Motor, Test Naval Jelly

- Fixed the carburetor gas leak with Permatex and tested and fixed the frozen motor on the washer sprayer pump (funny). Tested Naval Jelly on Rust. Bought new exhaust and bed liner kit!

Great job with the washer pump! For the surface rust, pressure wash all the crud off, then take that wire wheel brush and hit everything you can get to on the bottom of her. Then spray vinegar all over it. Pressure wash again and she's ready for whatever undercoat you choose. I did that exact process to mine and the underside almost looks like new. Takes a bit of elbow grease and some masking of stuff for painting, but you're obviously no stranger to that.
I'm doing almost what you said except instead of vinegar it's that pink gel which is supposed to dissolve the rust then form iron phosphate. If I had any vinegar left I'd rather use that. I don't like harsh chemicals, but it's pink, so it can't hurt you right? Lol.

The Weber carb is aftermarket. Stock is a Hitachi that used all the vacum lines that you point to in vid that go to "same valve". It also used ecm type control that creates some issues as age sets in.
Oh ok, so I'm prob better off with the Weber then? What did you think about the gasket on the accelerator pump diaphragm? Does that need to be there? I checked it today, not leaking just seemed weird when I was editing I was wishing I left it off and just put the gasketmaker on both sides of the diaphragm gasket area. Hey thanks for the info!

Thank you! Today I was questioning what Suzuki was thinking when they made these things, definitely not safety. Seat rails are attached to the floor pan that I mic'd at 1mm think. Then another 1mm strap has a square nut tacked to it for the seat bolts. It's crazy. I'll show it on the next video. Hey, thanks for watching.

I'd love to see the dash wiring video! I'm still having trouble with my damn windshield wipers.
I dropped the windshield this weekend and if I ground to the body and go directly to the motor from the battery I'm able to get my wiper motor to work, but I'm not getting any voltage when I use the switch on my combination switch (ignition is switched on).
I tested the combination switch and I'm getting a circuit connecting on the 6 pin connector with the top two pins when I've got my wipers set to high so I think the switch is okay. Even if I manually ground the motor to the body and plug it in the wipers still aren't working so I don't think its a grounding issue. I'm thinking I may need to pull the dash and harness apart to see if there's a problem with the wires. Don't really know anything about wiring though so that'll be a rough project to get into.
Dang, that stinks. Well you know the motor is good so that's nice. If you don't have a multimeter I would buy one so you can check for voltage and continuity. I would probably unplug the combo switch plugs, identify the wires that go from the plug to the motor and see if there's a problem in between. So you were getting voltage out of that combo switch plug when you turned the wipers on? Keep me posted.
Dude, if you are trying to solve your rust issues, get you some POR-15
I think they both contain phosphoric acid. I'm just using it cuz its what I got. If you haven't figured out I'm kind of a cheapskate lol.
@@FixLife119 the POR15 kills the rust and paints the part black at the same time. But yeah I get it, you on a budget.
@@CTMadModz Yeah that paint that I use sometimes says it turns rust into black primer. Prob the same kind of stuff. I'm sure the POR-15 is better than naval jelly but I bet its not delicious looking! 😀
since you like super glue check out model balsa air plane glue same stuff but bigger bottles cheaper in the long run

The stuff in this video was Naval Jelly made by Loctite for the rust and the gasketmaker is made by Permatex. Permatex has a gasketmaker for literally every possible thing you could want to seal. This orange one was rated for gasoline because I was fixing the gas leak, but they make them for very specific liquids like gear oils for differentials or different heat ranges etc. Thanks for watching.
