The biggest problem is that middle-class people pay taxes like in Western countries and on top of that, they have to pay GST as well and a salried person pay 3-4 month of his salary in taxes and the increase in income is not keeping pace, and inflation is rising every year. We are already paying so much, and now we have to pay on our savings too. Short-term gains are taxed from 15% to 20%, and long-term gains from 10% to 12.5%. How is a person supposed to save and survive? Even if a person pays taxes for the country's progress, what do they get in return? Corruption. Forget about state infrastructure, what about central infrastructure? The Prime Minister inaugurates the Pragati Maidan tunnel, which gets flooded in the first rain and is of no use. It’s a total waste of middle-class taxes. Why should I now give my savings to them as well?

Worst Budget ever! My friends are now even demoralized to invest in Stock Markets. After paying all the taxes we can not even invest! Give me a single reason why we shouldn't leave India where we get 0 facilities for all the tax paid direct & indirect combined people like me pay ~60% taxes.

Duty on Gold reduced sharply from 14% to 6%. Why did it happen?
What happens to those who were buying paper gold / SGBs when their time has come to redeem?
Gold is a weapon of mass destruction which is being weaponized to take the $ down. Cheen is reducing the transaction fee on buying gold & the prices are no longer determined by West, but by the 'collective East' led by Cheen. India too joins the party on expected lines with today's announcement, but some will still live in denial.
Government is openly telling you to buy Gold.
With this rate cut price dips, & is a buying opportunity. Government has given it. Those who react, those who watch too much media, those who know everything & have too much opinion, they will still be doing commentary today without knowing the head & tail.
Government has also increased LTCG (long term capital gains > 1 year) & STCG (short term capital gains < 1 year). Which one more? STCG. Now understood had told you to prepare for the fall & that government will desist retailers from indulging in F&O, trading, instead move them to long term investing. So LTCG is increased only 2.5% but STCG is increased by double i.e., 5%.
Another place government wants money to flow is real estate. Indexation gone so now pay up more LTCG. Money will therefore be parked in real estate only if someone wants to cough up added LTCG at current price without adjusting inflation. Meaning - affordable prices. However builder lobby will try to still keep prices artificially higher by inducing black money but that's going to be hit hard next as that's a very logical next step after this.
BRICS summit is the trigger, government has done preparations. This budget was only keeping in mind to lay foundations of the global churn we will begin to see after US elections. Trump or whoever democrat it will be, is immaterial now. Modi has been elected, trio of Putin-Modi-Xi will pull the rug. Only problem with Trump coming is TOT will take a hit especially in defence, but government has made special allocations therefore in defence budget.
In short this budget is about investing in long term, investing in hard assets like gold, silver, real estate. Put emphasis on entrepreneurship locally as job creation with a disturbed West is almost negligible. This budget is preparation for a very massive & deep disturbance globally. Analysts are only doing the rhetoric of standard deduction not sufficient, middle class crying that same tax this - tax that. They will realize after 6 months (they will forget their words said today by then) thus budget then.

I’m not happy with taxes too. But the points you mentioned like roads etc, most of them come under municipality and state governments. We should be asking state the questions we are asking the centre. Yes, taxes should be reduced & yes, the services of government should be better. But most of the middle class people’s demands are under state government like healthcare, education etc.

This budget was made for these 80%, increasing the middle class and decreasing the poor seem slike the main goal of this budget. Not to mention, this budget is good for youth, employment, MSMEs, businesses and manufacturing especially electronics. So in shrot, this is gonna be beneficial fornindian manufacturing and economy. But yes, the middle class didn't got anything out of the ordinary. India is currently in a transition stage, these things are gonna bemore common in the future, thats how it is.

Remember the protests against farm laws which are actually good for the farmers? If the government announces tax against rich farmers, no matter what the slab is, there will be a lot of misinformation that spreads leading to riots and the country will burn. No government will even think of touching the farmers and agriculture sector.
