Love this style of video. 100% agree about the Slowking, that's an absurd card. Really wondering about Wally even being in the top 20 though. Boost shake exists and hasn't been banned, and I feel like Lt Surge, Reset Stamp, Delinquent, and Hex Maniac would have all been better options for a couple of those lower slots, maybe replacing Marshadow.

For instance, marshadow was seeing play as a 2 of at the end of it's life and was just an annoyance. I can see what you mean though with these other cards! Part 2 incoming? 🤔

I love how they banned Wally but then later on printed Boost Shake which enables the Trevenant combo as well except it isnt banned. Luckily in today's Expanded meta there are ways to get around Trevenant more easily, and with the 2023 Tool change I think we will see the final nail in the coffin for Trev
This game has always been warped around the Item cards, so naturally anything that allows you to either disrupt or recycle these cards will warp the meta around itself. Also, another trend I see with these banned cards is their effects are NOT hard once-per-turn. As for Sneasel, whoever designed this must have been high. That's the kind of damage you'd expect out of a Gen 4 SP Basic Pokemon, not Gen 2.

People didn't realize how good marshadow was until too late in the format. It's one of the best strategies imo from that time to go marshadow T1 into a tag team. Guru felt too similar to sableye but I wanted to cover the older cards for people who are newer to the game!!

Pretty smart move by TPC to give that Archen card an ability that prevents both the user and opponent from evolving, as it not only references Archeops' ability (Defeatist) from the games, but also the fact that as fossil mons, Archeops and Archen never evolved and survived the changes in their surroundings that rendered them extinct.

@@FlexDaddyRighteous i won an event just after call of legends became legal where i used broken time space with jumpluff, to take 1st place at a battle roads tournament! i went up against some terrifying decks like luxray and dialgachomp, and even donphan prime/ yanmega prime, and the new gengar prime/ lost world stadium deck. i guess my deck was just super consistent
Where's XY unown? That card is hilariously stupid and extremely degenerate, with games including it basically turning into a race between who gets to 35 cards the fastest. Obviously this would never happen, because supporters exist that force the opponent to shuffle their hand back into their deck, but it's still a really funny banned card to me
Trev and Tropical Beach were banned. If it was a region specific ban, it should have been stated in the video. Also, favorite banned card is Delinquent.
I remember a few years back there was a gym or field card that would allow grass types to evolve the turn they were played as to why that wasn't banned I don't know. One of the first times I played in a pokemon tournament I got my ass whooped by that card.
i think the fact that the scarcity of the card, meant that only players who attended worlds had the card. this gave those specific players and overwhelming advantage, over players that didn't attend the worlds event. If tropical beach was released in actual set, then i would have no problems with the card, since it would be available to everyone, and won't cost a months pay check.

Birthday Pikachu's attack should require a valid form of ID to be placed down next to your card for the +50 bonus damage to take effect.
