- Two Polish rescuers shed tears when they discovered that Indian climber Anurag Maloo was found to be alive after spending three days inside a crevasse on Annapurna. The miraculous rescue required a team led by Mariusz Hatala and Adam Bieleski to brave one of the most dangerous spots on the mountain.
With Hatala building a pulley system, Bielecki rappeled over 60 meters into the crevasse. Imagine Bielecki’s surprise, when expecting to find a lifeless body, to learn that Maloo was alive. THIS IS THE WHOLE STORY.

Hats off to Adam and the team on their successful rescue. Imagine those few seconds for Adam who was close to Anurag, believing anurag is dead, and when Anurag moved it must be very scary and fearful for him deep down in crevasse in confined space. Of course, one can freak out in this situation or get a heart attack.
Lots of prayers for Adam and everyone involved saving Anurag. May Godess Annpurna continue to bless Adam, and Team.

I do not know Webster’s Dictionary definition of “hero”, I’ve never looked for it because I think the title is misleading when it’s not sincere and real.
That being said, I’m pretty sure all those that risked their own lives to perform what they originally thought was going to be a body recovery, deadly I it’s own ways, to a life rescue can hold the title of heroes! As the Polish climber explained, all things worked so well and were timed almost perfectly to optimize the injured climber’s chance at living. It just seems that there’s sometimes a Higher Power that takes , molds and uses these brave climbers. I do want to honor the Sherpas that stayed at camp because, if not for them, the Polish climbers never would have known where to go and the hard work they did to do to rescue this man. The Sherpa put their lives on the line, most of them young and inexperienced, to make a westerner’s dream of summiting come true.
Ya just gotta love this story! The climbers will have a great time telling their grandchildren the day they saved a climber’s life! 🧗

I am so glad I found this interview. I've been so depressed lately with all the crap going on on the world including recent events in my home city of Dublin. I cried tears of joy listening to this amazing story. It feels good to cry over something good for a change.

This just goes to show how many people it took in total to, in their minds, perform a body recovery (turned into a rescue).
Add to that the necessary equipment and a chopper.
All of their lives were in great danger the entire time, including the pilot's!

I’m an intensive care Doctor and this reaffirmed my teaching and that is to never give up on your resuscitation until the patient‘s body has been rewarmed to normal.

It's mind boggling to think what that might have been like...the story might have ended up a random footnote of another life lost in the mountains.
what an unbelievable rescue.. I cant imagine how it feels when you are; in your mind recovering a dead body. but then you find the person is alive.. and suddenly all the energy changes. As a person living near Himalayas..I can confirm that being alive for 3 days in that condition is just unreal... I know some travelers who could not even survived at a much lower altitude.. I don't know what it was, his body, health, gear or Luck.. But its insane he survived that...Thanks to all the team members who were involved in this miraculous effort....Huge Respect..

Oh gosh I can only imagine how many others have fallen in a crevasse and survived but had to die slow and alone. He was so lucky these guys were on the mountain.

I don't usually generalize, but Polish climbers seem like good people. For some serendipitous reason, I've seen about 3-4 stories just in the past couple days on YT that involve Polish climbers, specifically, so it may just be my recency bias, but I remember thinking the same thing with those videos as with this one: "Man, those Polish climbers seem like good people".

I ran into polish climbers on desert towers in moab, in the alpine above chamonix, sport climbing in bavaria... and they were All stellar people. Beasts when it comes to climbing, respectful, kind and friendly in their demeanor, always super fun to hang around and share some beers. Man he got lucky that poles were around! What an interview!! Much love to all the badass polish climbers.❤

Wow! This choked me up! For Adam to say there was probably a reason they didn't make the trek on the other side Annapurna, but was close by to do this rescue. It was divine intervention!
At the end, you showed Anurag's picture. I expected to see a man without skin, a nose or lips on his face, let alone alive!

ummmm...so risking lives to rescue a person who is aliveimplies that DEAD people should inspire the same life and death risks .....how?WHAT?
I still say hard no. Actual deaths far exceed one or two miracle rescues. Too many climbers who just happen to be on the scene at the time, like these guys and the sherpas, are at tremendous risk when they are asked to retrieve bodies. Better for family and friends to pay a professional team to do it who is willing to accept the risks, and that includes the helicopter pilots.
@@zztop4996 I totally agree on so many of your points. I think in so many cases it undoubtedly puts others in mortal danger to attempt rescues. Especially when it comes to inexperience climbers.
However there have been more than a few “miracles” on Everest of climbers in the “death zone” left over night in the freezing cold.
Beck Weathers comes to mind.
I come from a huge military family and was often told stories of NEVER leaving a man behind.
Such generosity and courage was shown by all those who were involved in Anurag's survival. Stories like this restores one's faith in human beings.

I did Mountain Rescue in Alaska for 10 years. That's Amazing those are real climbers and was very dangerous. They are real heros !!

It's unbelievable, but truly a miracle. I'm so stunned by the actions of the rescuers, and they need all the praises. Timing and experience with the help and direction of a higher being. Call it God or whatever faith you adhere to. Angels were all around.

Adam seems like the guy you want to come if your in trouble, he risked his life for another and didnt speak on it until he was home and healed. Thats a stand up guy. i also find it awesome how hes geekin out over his ul rope setup.

I will watch a few more videos from this channel. My first impression is that this man and his channel are a wonderful, beautiful level of pure, wholesome, and humble. I can not believe this . I love this interview and recounting of this miraculous event!
There are a lot of technical implications, here, that are quite interesting. E.G. sport climbing vs mountain climbing; half rope (does that mean a smaller diameter of the rope?).... I am not a climber, "don't play one on tv", but have just come across a series of documentaries of the sport. ( If I had the money, I WOULD love to walk some of the many Caminos of the world....)

Adam is an amazing climber. He was the first to conquer Gasherbrum I and Broad Peak in winter. In 2018, during the Polish national K2 winter expedition , the last eight-thousander unclimbed in winter, along with Denis Urubko, they flew to Nanga Parbat and saved the life of the French climber Elizabeth Revol

I hate to reiterate what so many others have already said, but I must. Stunning actions on all involved (anyone else notice the chopper pilot didn't even have both skids on the ground!). None of this would have happened without the willingness of both Adam and Mariusz to take on this dangerous task.
When preparedness meets ability meets willingness, truly amazing things can happen. Just a breathtaking endeavor by all.
And let's not forget Anurag himself. It takes a Herculean will and incredible survival instinct to have simply stayed alive down in that crevasse.
I won't be forgetting this story anytime soon.

Adam is so courageous! He saved him even though he was in danger going down in the crevice. He and the other rescuers were heroes! The helicopter pilot was wonderful. Such an inspiring story! Thank you! You made my day.

I have personal experience in saving drowned man including CPR (it was in 1986) I was a climber at that time, but this story is completely another level. Stunning! If Stefan Zweig would be around this could be another chapter in his Decisive Moments in History.
