It's a lovely solo written by a guy who is not a great guitarist but it shows that you don't need to be a master like Brian May or Jeff Beck to write a great solo - it comes from the heart.
I know he can be a prick at times but I'm a cabbie & picked up a couple from The Park Lane hotel in London a few years back. The guy was saying that they had gone up there for a meal to celebrate his wife's birthday when he noticed Liam at another table with some friends. He went up to him & said - "Sorry Liam but it's my wife's birthday. Would you mind just signing this for her? - To get his autograph. To his credit Liam said "Bring her over!" They then sat down with the guys for about 15 mins. He gave her a huge birthday kiss & sang "Happy Birthday" to her!
You must of caught him on a good day cos a close friend of mine was a cabbie back then he said wear you going lads they both said it's on ya fucking moniter isent ot then that was the whole conversation dead

This is the best version of this song in my opinion. Liams voice is back and better than ever. True shame oasis still isn’t back together. They could literally fill stadiums, make fucking millions, and save the music industry. Maybe one day
I honestly disagree that his voice is better here. just watched MTV most wanted live acoustic 1994 Sang "whatever" and "live forever" That was Liam's voice at its best
It's honestly pretty loyal to the original recording, it's just using a heavy delay effect, replacing some of the vibrato with bends and missing a handful of notes throughout. You can hear differences but it's by no means a bad cover.
It's an absolute credit to Coldplay that even after all these years, and a bit of stick from Liam in the mean time, they can still play another bands best song to a tee. How many bands could, or would do this?
Because isn't petty mate, he's probly the most sound guy you'll ever meet, not to say Liam's bad or anything they are just very different people, but both are amazing and different we appreciate them both
it never stops amazing me how Britain become the factory of the most influential musicians on the planet. Iron Maiden, Motorhead, U2, Coldplay, Oasis, Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who, Joy Division, The Cure, Black Sabbath, Diamond Head, The Police, Eric Clapton, Cranberries, Phil Collins, Pink Floyd, Queen, Dire Straits, Stone Roses, Verve, Judas Priest, Deep Purple, Radiohead, Depeche Mode, the Clash, Blur, Jethro Tull, Gorillaz, Cream..............man the list just goes forever and forever. And it is only the top of the iceberg, how many great underground bands there were that we never heard of? Well done Great Britain!!!
The Hollies the Bee Gees, We are a mix melting pot for all nationalities in Britain but so much of our music was heavily influenced from America in the fifties .London is the place we make it happen
During the relief effort after Hurricane Sandy in 2012, he played guitar for Michael Stipe. Pretty cool moment even though R.E.M. just called it a day not long before that.
When I first heard this song, it struck me in a way that really hit home. I was in my early 20s, at a point in my life where the future was uncertain, and I had no idea where my life was headed. Easily one of my favorite songs of the 90s.
What’s beautiful about this video is how Chris and Johnny looked like they were in awe. Playing with one of their heroes growing up. Look at how they were looking at each other and smiling. And what’s even more brilliant was how Liam commanded the stage. Coldplay are the biggest band in the world right now - but when Liam walked to throw his tambourine they just looked like session musicians. Brilliant from the three of them.
@@Alienkiwi730 I beg to differ. The Edge himself said he is incredibly proud of the fact that he inspired Jonny Buckland. If he played in any other band, he would be a legit rock icon.
I had never listened to Oasis seriously, you know, I knew and liked a couple of songs, until I watched this and in these past months they've become one of my absolute favorite bands!
Brings a tear to my eye every time I listen to this, this performance reestablished Liam into the music world quite beautifully,I think this is the best version of the song
I'm an American who is 18 years old who didn't even grow up listening to this music, but Oasis has hands down some of the best music I have ever heard.
Yeah. Dig all their albums and b-sides and you'll be blown away. Also check out live performances from the 1996-2001 era when Liam's voice was at its peak
James Lee I think it's cause Coldplay are a massive English band so it makes sense for an English singer with a sick reputation and an awesome band with a great reputation and there singing the song for an English tragedy, plus it sounds great!
I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video . There’s something about the setting , atmosphere, performance and all round genuine love that you could feel watching this live that made this so great. Liam Gallagher is a once in a lifetime character and Chris Martin equally as an act . Class act by both them and Manchester on that night . Not one for city fans but by Christ they were united post attack. Resiliency in the face of adversity is something everyone there that night and watching all around the world felt , had and always will hold onto . No attack or war will ever break us as a race , we as a race are united together against terrorism and will never give up the war on it .
Liam... I used to think the guy was useless. However the past year he has turned my opinion. Superb solo album release and old skool performances like this. The guy is a legend.
Still a tune this is. Liam's voice is spot on in this. Just that little bit of grit to it and that solo, top drawer especially the high note part, goosebumps man.
When he sings that last chorus it's like the baddest man in music sounding like a nightingale. Untouchable. The rebirth of lg and his voice and a fitting tribute

@@JoeKinney-ht7el
I could imagine that.
I can see Liam, in particular, has that "trademark" of being a bit on the "edgy" side....
As a 15 year old american small town girl i have to say oais has some of the best music my ears have heard.
But in your picture there is a dude 😅
@@The01Lawliet oh that’s Chris Briney from an Amazon show called the summer I turned pretty based on the book series also named the summer I turned pretty and his character in the show is named Conrad.
Have you heard their song - don’t go away?
@@believeurhappy4410 no but im sure it’s really good I’ll check it out
This is the best version of this song in my opinion. Liams voice is back and better than ever. True shame oasis still isn’t back together. They could literally fill stadiums, make fucking millions, and save the music industry. Maybe one day
Definitely maybe
If Liam stops being an asshole, maybe
If Liam deletes twitter
oasis were a drop in the ocean ,his new stuff is way better ,kick ass rock n roll what he does best
I honestly disagree that his voice is better here.
just watched MTV most wanted live acoustic 1994
Sang "whatever" and "live forever"
That was Liam's voice at its best
That guitar solo goes right into your veins
he fucks it up a bit.
true !
He fucks it up a lot.
It's honestly pretty loyal to the original recording, it's just using a heavy delay effect, replacing some of the vibrato with bends and missing a handful of notes throughout. You can hear differences but it's by no means a bad cover.
He does it better than Liam Gallagher’s actual guitarist that he tours with.
I love how happy Chris Martin is in this - what a piece of music. Well done to all involved
Let me breathless. Love their voices together.
Chris Martin and Johnny Buckland the only guys who can say they played Live Forever with both Noel and Liam, pure class
agreed, and what a great job both of them did. big fan of coldplay !
What about the members of Oasis?

It's an absolute credit to Coldplay that even after all these years, and a bit of stick from Liam in the mean time, they can still play another bands best song to a tee. How many bands could, or would do this?
IamKevinFinnerty totally agree, and with very little time to prepare/practice too!
@@chanceuxvache Mate, Live forever literally has 6 chords in it. 20 minutes practice and anyone would have it mastered
David Go on then
Because isn't petty mate, he's probly the most sound guy you'll ever meet, not to say Liam's bad or anything they are just very different people, but both are amazing and different we appreciate them both
Happiness is when Liam sings Oasis songs, even though there is hard time going on our lives.
That's exactly what Manchester wants.
Love him or hate him. This guy is a legend that I’ll never forget In all the years I’ve listened to music. Top guy for representing
I dont think anyone hates Liam at this stage other than Noel
Rangda Rangda 😂honestlyyy
I love him
it never stops amazing me how Britain become the factory of the most influential musicians on the planet.
Cranberries are Irish
Dafür liebe ich die Insel!❤
U2 and The Cranberries are Irish
Duran Duran
The Hollies the Bee Gees, We are a mix melting pot for all nationalities in Britain but so much of our music was heavily influenced from America in the fifties .London is the place we make it happen
As big a prick he might be or at least appear to be in the media, he turned up when manchester needed him most. hats off to him for that gesture.

You really think you had to be invited for this? lol If Noel had said i'm gonna play for my people they wouldve allowed it for sure
Ye Liam wasn't invited either he just turned up
In my opinion one of the best songs ever written. Legendary
Wrecking Boss with one of the best guitar solos
I think you're right Boss
Yes. So thank his brother Noel...a music genius and legend.
When Chris Martin steps back and play guitar for someone, be sure that someone is a legendary performer.
During the relief effort after Hurricane Sandy in 2012, he played guitar for Michael Stipe. Pretty cool moment even though R.E.M. just called it a day not long before that.

Same thing with Richard Ashcroft
@@mikesmith-jl2sf This comment is not going anywhere darling! ❤
The infamous Liam swagger and parka combo knocked em out
Mohamed call me
Coldplay aren’t the biggest band in the world...
You know that they have only 4 years of age gap? lol they grew up together basically
EnglishXnXproud Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino, Mark speaking, how may I direct your call
Here's a man wearing an orange parka and playing a tambourine, singing the most beautiful song written in the last 30 years
When Britain needed him he emerged, orange parka on and tambourine in hand ….
Easily.
Nothing after the 1980s can come close to this song
Absolute perfection .
Goosebumps every time 💪💙
@@adonnycalledgeorge4636 cant forget the sticking the tongue out

Coldplay guitarist deserves so much credit here
Samuel Robinson lol
Jonny Buckland is just a diluted watered down version of The Edge.
He's Diet Edge
@@Alienkiwi730 I beg to differ. The Edge himself said he is incredibly proud of the fact that he inspired Jonny Buckland. If he played in any other band, he would be a legit rock icon.
Jonny Buckland is world class
I remember watching the Coldplay movie, Chris Martin said their guitarist is the most talented member of the band.
It's amazing version of this song
I had never listened to Oasis seriously, you know, I knew and liked a couple of songs, until I watched this and in these past months they've become one of my absolute favorite bands!
The same! I've never thought how great they were been, after this I cannot stop listening to Oasis
Omg ! Same ❤
If you like them try a bit of stone roses
Same
me too! by watching this
There is something really powerful about seeing an older Liam, without shades, back performing, without being a walking parody of himself. Awesome.

This is the respect when earned that Liam always talked about. There are times to be and there are times to feel like you can live forever.

When liam always plays his tamborine legendary
British mod music at its best, a noel song , sung by liam, backed by coldplay, truly amazing
darren darren with some due respect, whats so good about a song being backed by coldplay? xD
James Lee I think it's cause Coldplay are a massive English band so it makes sense for an English singer with a sick reputation and an awesome band with a great reputation and there singing the song for an English tragedy, plus it sounds great!
James Lee They're the biggest band in the world maybe?
James Lee Jonny on guitar and Chris singing backing vocals is AMAZING
No topping it that was sheare class and the tambourines just take you back to the good old days of oasis
These kids dont know the beauty that they are experiencing. They came here for Coldplay, yet they received the majesty of Liam Gallagher.
The King showed up!!
The majesty of Liam Gallagher. Liam Gallagher: what happens when you don't foot turf in Mayo. Seriously.
This was in Manchester mate. Give the kids some credit, they know who Oasis are, especially in Manchester
False, Noel Gallagher wrote Live Forever.
Most of these kids are from Manchester, whether they’re fans or not, Oasis is in our blood.

No attack or war will ever break us as a race , we as a race are united together against terrorism and will never give up the war on it .
city united that day xx
this is one of the most beatiful performances of anything, ever.
Chris singing "you and I gonna live forever" melt my heart

Liam is the king atm, what a comeback he has made since this performance

Christ he still sounds like he's 22..simply perfect, beautiful and amazing.
That was the moment to have put all your differences to one side and have the original band back on stage.... Chris loved that you could see it.. 👍
Liam... I used to think the guy was useless. However the past year he has turned my opinion. Superb solo album release and old skool performances like this. The guy is a legend.
Shitty Dick!!
Still a tune this is. Liam's voice is spot on in this. Just that little bit of grit to it and that solo, top drawer especially the high note part, goosebumps man.

what I love most is how clear chris's strummming gets when Jonny start to play the solo.
Probably the greatest moment in live music of this decade...fucking euphoric. Liam's voice is soaring, so beautiful!!!!
