    I had cataract surgeries on both eyes...i have alot of floaters in the center of my vision. And i paid extra for the expensive light adjusting lenses so i didnt have to wear glasses.

      So are you free of glasses now? Could you see Both near and distance?
      With regards to floaters. Interesting enough my newest video is just about that and it was released this weekend. In that video I am reviewing for different solutions for floaters.

    This is a very nice introductory video. Thank you Dr. Cohen. What do you think of the new accomodating lens that are coming out?

      They are a fantastic concept. However, I think we are probably at least 5 to 10 years away from clinical implementation. Given that the current technology is extremely well received and effective I don't think that someone should wait that long.

      @@doctorilancohen still have my eye guard on and putting the drops every 2 hours. So far good. I noticed the left eye where the new lens has a blueish magenta cast while my right eye natural one has a warmer color cast

    How about the risk? for a patient with high myopia (-9.50, -975), some dry eyes (MGD). the retinal is stretchy but is ok, no macula degenerate. Thank you so much for this informational video.

    • @doctorilancohen
      @doctorilancohen  หลายเดือนก่อน

      A patient with high Myopia is always at a higher risk of retinal detachment. Cataract surgery increases this risk slightly. However, overall the risk is not very high. I recommend my highly myopic patients to see a retinal specialist before cataract surgery to do potential laser treatments if there any breaks in the retina and also after cataract surgery to make sure that new brakes did not develop. This will minimize the chance of retinal detachment.

    Thank you so much for this crucial video. However you have not talked about the patients who previously did RK surgery. What are their risk to do cataract surgery after 30 years of RK surgery. Would appreciate it if you provide some information about it. Many thanks

      Cataract surgery after Rk is a bit more tricky due to two issues.
      The first issue is the measurement for the exact power of the lens that goes into the eye. The newset generation of laser biometric devices are a lot more accurate and can handle this challenge . We had great success with these.
      The second issue is that during the surgery, depending on the number of the RK cuts the actual surgical procedure itself might be more challenging. I use a few techniques that very effectively deal with this problem.
      Overall the results of cataract surgery with RK patients under the hands of a skilled and experienced surgeon are very good.
      The third issue is if the RK cuts are causing significant level of distortion on the cornea. this can be handled by using appropriate intraocular lenses that can minimize these distortions.
      I hope this helps.

    Great video, thank you Doctor ! May I ask how do you manage patients with (moderate) ADHD ? Does IV sedation work well or is general anesthesia required ? I'm afraid of moving or not understanding the instructions in time (as often happens to me). However, the idea of being under general anesthesia makes me even more anxious...

    • @doctorilancohen
      @doctorilancohen  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Iv sedation is perfectly fine. Have done many with ADHD. It the surgeons responsibility not yours. Stop worrying about it.

      @@doctorilancohen Thank you doctor for your reassuring answer ! That was my feeling too but my surgeon recommended general anesthesia. He said that this is the norm for young patients because they are often more anxious than older ones and so they are not cool. I was a bit anxious (like everyone else I guess) but what he said definitely scared me whereas I was expecting more reassurance from him.

    I am scared to get it done i am alot like my dad in many things he had 1 eye reject it and other 1 didn’t get enough blood flow but thus was long long ago. And i have Tourette’s.

    • @doctorilancohen
      @doctorilancohen  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The implants used today will not be rejected. I have not seen one rejected in the last 20 years. Tourette's syndrome does not provide any specific problem with regards to cataract surgery.

      Dry eyes after cataract surgery is usually transient, if any. There are many effective ways to remedy it.
