Thank you so much for posting this. I, too, like to "own" my books in a format that can be read on all my devices. I've looked all over the internet and this is the first time I've found a clear and thorough description of the steps needed to accomplish this goal.

Thanks for watching! The best part is now I buy my ebooks from several sites, and spread the wealth instead of just one vendor!

I also call it KAH-LEE-BRAY. I was looking at "Libre Office". They said it was called LEE-BRAY because in the Latin languages that means freedom.

Thanks for watching! According to the actual creator of the program, Kovid Goyal, we are both write and wrong, but I have been saying Ca-Lee-Bray so long I don't think I will change...
"The name calibre was chosen by my wife, Krittika. The libre in calibre stands for freedom, indicating that calibre is a free and open source product, modifiable by all. Nonetheless, calibre should be pronounced as cali-ber, not ca-libre."

Hi there! Thank you so much for this video! I've tried to sent converted files to my kindle (it's a paperwhite from 2021) and I'm still not able to! Either my email doesn't send it and saves the email as a draft or it sends and I receive an automatic email from amazon saying that there was an error and the email was sent without a file... Any tips?

What file type are you converting it to? sending as an email was a little confusing for me as all my kindle apps had different emails. Try send to kindle from the web: www.amazon.com/sendtokindle , and note, it only works with the following file types (that have no DRM):PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT, RTF, HTM, HTML, PNG, GIF, JPG, JPEG, BMP, EPUB and max file size is 200mb.

I agree, don't share the ebooks. I do a virtual library only to safe my ebooks and do not be a slave of them platforms, also to allow use the old device that is not supported by them platforms anymore.
You should remove the section of installing the adobe software as it is not need.

You’re right it’s not needed, but I’m always nervous at some point. Adobe is gonna notice the people who are using their Adobe digital editions and don’t have an installed the version of the program on their computers so it’s really just more for future proofing and safety than for absolute necessity. That way, if Adobe ever cracks down, at least you can still get to your books via the program on your computer

Hi there! This was a fantastic resource! It's working for most books/files I've transferred over from old devices after I finally upgraded to a new tablet but I'm specifically having trouble with recently downloaded acsm files. They open up fine in the native ADE app but calibre is getting stuck on the DRM even though I set it to 2.0.1 as instructed and it seems like in the past month a bunch of people on the github have been reporting a similar issue.
Was there an update to their DRM protocol? I wonder if I just have poor timing lol. Calibre is importing the files themselves and even reading the metadata correctly! It shows up as an epub but trying to open or convert it in any way gives me the "restricted by DRM" popup. Very frustrating. I wonder if I'll just have to wait until the next DeACSM/DeDRM update/patch rolls out.

first try this: open them up in the ADE app, and the go to the ADE folder on your computer that stores the books (for example on my MAC the ADE app books are stored in my documents folder in a "Digital Editions" folder as epubs. Add the books to calibre from there, that may work.
Oh, what bookstore are they from? Although ADE is supposed to be universal different bookstore sometimes have different implementations of ADE.
