- The cheap bike challenge - $148 Las Vegas Edition - I buy a cheap mountain bike from Walmart and push the limits on urban MTB freeride lines, pump tracks, jumps and even a skatepark and see how long this MTB can last!
I was over in Las Vegas, USA for a quick trip on the way home from Mexico and decided to go buy a bike from a Walmart Supercenter and shred it until it breaks to find out how long such a bike can last. I start the video off in a drainage ditch somewhere on the outskirts of Vegas, where I find out that the bike is pretty good. From here I headed to a pump track that was filled with loads of jumps and features to ride and got this cheap full suspension bike airborne and pulled off a few tricks. I then modified the bike to allow barspins before moving into the Las Vegas strip where I found I pretty fun stair set of doom to rip down before heading to old vegas. After exploring the lights I then found a small skatepark where the bike was sent quite heavily and I found the limits of what this bike can do! Would you ride this?

The cheap bike challenge always just seems to give Sam the biggest smile as he constantly surprises himself as to how long the bike can last.
What I like from Sam the most is that he a grown adult man having fun and being creative with his bike as if his was in his teenage days. Just like many of us guys 😂
I will turn 61 in January 2023, and I still ride my bike like I am a teenager. Feel like it too. I love to ride and have ridden my whole . Sam has inspired me to try some tricks. Nothing too fancy yet. I am dreaming of whistler, on a days drive away. - Cheers

I guess the more you are smooth on your bike the longer the bike it would stay. Sam has proofed it with his smoothest skill on bike.
God no matter how much money he spends on bikes he still can do tricks and other stuff without expensive stuff. Just shows that expensive isn't always the best. Great video!

It's amazing that cheap department store bikes haven't changed in price since I was a kid in the early 1980s. For example, a cheap Huffy, Kent, Murray, etc., BMX when I was a kid was around $100 in say, 1983, and 40 years later, they are still around $100 (I think the cheapest Huffy 20" BMX is $78 right now on Walmart's website), even though $100 in 1983 translates to $305.90 in 2023 according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics CPI inflation calculator.

I just want o make a quick PSA. if you do get a cheap bike, and I dont suggest you do, but if you do you have to go around and do a bolt check frequently make sure its not loose, especially the quill stem, the whole thing is held together with one long bolt and if that loosens your front wheel and your bars will separate directions and you will faceplant the earth. happened to me when I was 14, I still have a scar for life, wear a helmet too

When i was a kid my local Halfords had a Zaskar race frame up on a stand and it was like the holy grail at the time. I used to think it was the best bike at the time because it was just a frame, where every other bike was complete. Ha
You know, you could probably take the bike with all the "extra parts" and take it back to Walmart and most likely get your money back.
