      The price on these things is ridiculous! Base Carrera is all you need for the road. Unfortunately it is PDK only. Hopefully a manual Carrera T is coming soon at a reasonable price.

    Only time will tell if this version of 911 is significantly better. Everytime a newer variant is released the automotive press proclaims the new excellence.
    People that order this model want to be reassured it is worth the expense. I think the chassis upgrade is the biggest change but not sure if it is worth it for daily driving.
    To each their own.
    Oh and before some unpleasant person such as DK makes a questionable and rude reply to this, I am an american who owns and dd's a 992 4S. I also like corvettes and many other car brands. I can appreciate we all have different tastes and opinions.
    Congratulations to those that have ordered a new 992 GTS.

    "I'll have it in Python Green with the manual box"... Said no 992 owner ever. They'll have it in snorefest grey with the PDK to, well, you know, protect "residuals". An yep, there are tons of people who ordered this car before this video was released, and are still waiting for it now. Or just got told no.

    • @davidkn
      @davidkn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      not true, you have to drive one to get it, I have just ordered my 3rd GTS, they are a special car, for someone who cant get a GT3 allocation and wants RWD.

    • @jameswillard1
      @jameswillard1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@davidkn you’re half right .....they are for someone who CANNOT get a GT3 allocation. I’ve driven every generation of GTS and non GTS 997/991 versions and back when they were actually something exclusive ...the only wide body/rear drive 911 while every other rear drive version was a narrow body, and the naturally aspirated engine had the X51 treatment which meant it actually revved higher, sounded better, had higher horsepower etc. There is absolutely nothing here that cannot be specced on a 992 Carrera S except the rear helper springs

    • @davidkn
      @davidkn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@jameswillard1 well ive owned said cars rather than just driving them back to back, the X51 was just a power upgrade, which this GTS gets too (which on the 991.2 sounded better than the S, who knows with this version at the moment), the same 30BHP it always does. Theres the Turbo S centre lock wheels that cant be specced on an S, it has the turbo brake setup, again, cant be specced on a normal carrera, is also 10mm lower again. So maybe do a bit more research.

    • @HiddenWen
      @HiddenWen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. This gen, if you want a non-Turbo or GT version of 911, the sweet spot is probably the Carrera S if you're a bit more hardcore, or the base Carrera if you want a more comfortable ride. The GTS is basically a well-optioned CS with a lot of Alcantara.

    • @davidkn

      @davidkn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What’s a T then? A dressed up Carrera? The GTS gets better brakes, better suspension and more power, that’s not dressing up. It’s a Turbo without so much power but keeping the RWD to make it fun.

    • @gregs8685
      @gregs8685 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidkn it’s a great 911 no doubt but $150k? It is ridiculously overpriced for a tarted up Carrera S. The 991.2 GT3 Touring, an all-time great 911, was $150k 2 years ago.

    • @davidkn
      @davidkn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gregs8685 it’s not overpriced at all! If you add the options you get on the car (which most people option anyway, or would if going for a GTS), it’s not much different and you’re then getting the power increase, better brakes and suspension too. If you want a base S, then yes it’s more expensive, but it’s not aimed at those people. You also can’t compare it to the ridiculously low price of the GT3, as no one can get allocations for that! Porsche could sell the GT3 for 30% more and people would pay it. My specced up GTS I have on order is £152k, but I do have Paint to sample also which is expensive. The car is worth the money though. I test drove an Aston Martin F1, same price at £153k, not as good as the GTS terrible interior and infotainment in comparison. The Porsche is a bargain for what you get compared to the competition.
