Disconect the air line that goes to the fan clutch, turn the key on.If no air comes out disconect the fan solenoid wires and test the voltage. It should be 12 volts. If there is not 12 volts, the solenoid ground or ecm could be the problem. If there is 12 volts coming to the solenoid and no air coming out of the fan clutch air hose with the key on the solenoid is bad.
Hey ally I have a Freightliner Columbia 05 that the fan won't stop running. Even when I turn off the a.c. it stills keep running. Water temp is always at 175 and outside temperature is not that hot to be spinning all the time. I replaced the solenoid w a new one $100 at Freightliner and did the disconnect on the air line and air Does blow out from the solenoid. What would b the next step. Need help. THANKS
My truck 2011 frieghtliner cascadia the same problem even the ac off still the fan spin faster and loud I changed the solenoid and the fan clutch but still the same? What is the next step
My question is what if the fan doesn't come on at a certain temperature. Can it also be the vale that's the issue, if everything else that was mentioned does work?
Would my fan constantly being on cause my temp to be 130-150? Seems to me it whould still be higher than that because i know alot of peope put a bolt in theirs to keep it constantly running
Yesterday I was driving home, too, turned on, fan clutch and started working. I thought maybe the solenoid needs to be replaced. I changed a new one. but still on I came home. And was about change clutch But then I started to rummage, the wiring found frayed under starter and it was all a problem. started working properly.
The only way to test the solenoid is to get the engine warm enough to get the solenoid to cut off air supply to engage fan or trick the computer to trip the solenoid
after you replace the solenoid did you test ? was the fan free ? can you please tell me what happened! I'm having the same issue with my S60 Century, thanks in advance
I rebuild my fan clutch last year and just last week replaced that solenoid but my fan still comes on alot more than what seems normal, so maybe the it could be the relay?
JavyT30500 mine is the same I replaced fan clutch, fan clutch solenoid, thermostat,AC high pressure switch but still the same Mine is Freightliner cascadia 2011 don’t know what else to do?
Hi. i have a 2013 international 7400, im having a high temperature problem due to the low speed setting on the clutch fan is not working, the fan will engage at high speed for about 4-5 seconds when the engine heats up to 230 Degrees fahrenheit. i need some help to solve this low speed fan problem,,,thanks

@@bigtexan3188 So what was the problem? Was it the high pressure switch in the a/c line or was the fan clutch bad?
What if air IS coming into the fan clutch on that line?
Late question but did the black cap at back of the solenoid come with it?? Mine didn’t come with the vent cap on the back of it

Changed mine out in my cascadia yesterday

Where exactly did you find the wire I'm having a similar problem?

If it air leak coming from the fan when tue key its on position I hear air leak
But the fan works
What you think
Change your fuel/water separator filter
Necesito saber porq razon el ventilador se enciende cuando la temperatura llega a 220 gracias
Necesitas un sensor más bajo de 200, 220 es mucha temperatura
Good clip Buck, safe travels !!!

I have the same exact problem.99 sterling detroit 60 what part # is that valve and where did you purchase the valve thank you.
would this issue be the same for Mack truck?
Jason Voorhees possibly but Mac also use vmac electric temp sensor as well.
It is the motor not the truck

S60 century is a car, this video is about a Detroit engine
@@OutBackTruckerBucky an s60 is a series 60 Detroit 😤😤😤😤😂😂😂😂

@@OTRTruckDriver It actually ended up being the solenoid again, i replaced it and now its operating normal.
What happens if the fan is working well, but at the time of paying the truck, there is loss of air?
Bad seals in clutch fan
Lol !!! I thought you knew about S60 Detroit Diesel engines on a Freightliner Century because that's what I'm talking about, and no is not a car
Just want to make sure we are in the same page.
you did say " S60 Century". that would be a car buddy just fyi. Next time just say Detroit 60 freightshaker
I feel like my fun starts too late, the temperature almost gets the red when start
Hey , You can help me understand the principle of operation of the electromagnetic valve system. thank you
Maybe the ecm battery leaked out acid n detroyed the ecm ground common problem

I was told computer was not giving the command i I paid $3000 to change the computer
I did too and it still on
I changed the solenoid but still same problem
Thermostat Bro
What do you mean? The outside air temperature sensor?
I have Columbia 2006 with Detroit 60 and engine fan stays on should I change the solenoid valve ? Let me know thanks
Dose your air go down? if not, try changing the solenoid first it is very easy and it dose not cost much
OutBackTrucker Buck no no air is fine in both tanks just the fan is not stopping even its not free when engine is off
I have the same problem with a Mercedes Columbia. Fan is always on and loud as hell.
this guy is really poor at describing the facts. Very boring and confusing. No help at all
looks old then that
