- Lakers News has just come out that JJ Redick is officially Lakers Nation head coach. This was always to be expected and shouldn't come as a shock to Lakers Fans. After the Lakers missed out on Dan Hurley, it became clear that JJ Redick was going to be the Head coach and now let the NBA Draft and NBA season begin.

@@AsItStandsLakersyeah especially the coach thing. We have been calling this the whole time. Ty Lue was delusional, Hurley was complete BS, and Montey Williams was just grasping at straws. It wouldn’t surprise me if Lakers knew it was JJ the whole time
@bigballer6666 I think it was. Personally, I think they always planned to hire JJ and knew they couldn't until the Finals was over but had to keep appearances so to speak and do due diligence.

That's all I'm asking is let's wait and see. I like him and think he will do great but idk for certain. I'm willing to wait and see. To me it boils down to the roster and Staff. If the roster and staff isn't good it's hard for any coach to succeed
Pat Riley and Kerr were commentators w no coaching experience when they got hired. Ham was the hot assistant on the top seeded Bucks when we hired him. You don’t know who these coaches will be when they are hired. Lets be real Lakers fans and show some positivity!
Exactly!! Luke Walton was hype and turned down half the League to be the Lakers head coach, Ham Same Thing and both turned out awful. JJ has as good a shot as anyone to be great

@@AsItStandsLakers I hope he’s great but this was clearly a move to appease lebron just like them trying to get bronny in the draft even though he’s not nba ready. When you do everything to appease a player especially lebron then all you do is build a losing team. I would love for jj to end up being a great coach but I don’t have my hopes up.

Looks like the Bulls trade with the lakers is off the table too. Caruso just got traded to the Thunder for Josh Giddy per reports. Trea Young or D. Murray are the only realistic options at this point

Most Game Floor Generals don't translate to head coaches. I'm old enough to remember Magic and how much of a disaster that was as a coach
Only 6% of rookie head coaches end up being good. I wish JJ the best, but really hiring him is like asking your car mechanic to do open heart surgery, as long as he's got some doctor buddies around him to supervise.
I don't think that's a great analogy given JJ was a player with a good IQ and understands the game. Maybe something like a doctor fresh out of med school having his first patient needing open heart surgery. It's a doctor and has the knowledge but can he do the job.

The Lakers got the guy you wanted and or the guy you were hoping for. I get it, you would have raved over any person the Lakers chose. This of course is a Lakers site so I don't expect you to poo poo over what the Lakers choice would have been. You would have found the positive spin for any hire. I say all this because I went back to listen to your glowing thoughts and feeling about Ham when he was hired. The enthusiasm and glowing words were totally off the charts. I get it. That's what you do when you're hoping your team gets it right. Though I think JJ is not who I was hoping the Lakers would go with, they did, so I can't but hope for the best. But if he sucks to begin the season, let's hope the Lakers have the courage like the Bucks had this year and cut bait at the all-star break and if Monty he's still available move in that direction.
I genuinely, like JJ and think he will be good. I've also talked about my concerns with JJ and haven't claimed it'll be all sunshines and rainbows but I think JJ gives us the most upside. I was stoked about Ham because he was precieved as the next great head coach, came from a championship coaching tree and was a huge signing at the time. This wasn't a Tyler is just hyping the guy, the consensus was he will be great. JJ is definitely a Tyler hyping up the new hire because there isn't the hype or belief in JJ. Another example, I was critical of Borrego and he very easily could have been the coach and I would of stood by my comments and opinion. I'll always support whomever is on this team. Examples, I defended Westbrook, I like most believed it wouldn't work but I was supportive and was willing to give it a chance but when the time came I was critical. Same with Ham, I defended Ham until the time came where I had to be critical. Do I have Laker biases at times? Sure but i think I'm fair in my analysis and am critical when it calls for it. I try not to let my emotions or in the moment opinions weigh my commentary. I'm not perfect by any stretch and have good takes and bad like everyone.
@@AsItStandsLakers Okay. I feel that. Before Ham was hired, I was totally against that hire. And believe me, my comments are all over the Fansided LakeShowLife site. The moment they hired Ham I was on board. Why? Ultimately, I want the Lakers to succeed. Period. Ham just couldn't get out of his own way. The belief in small ball. The belief I'd rather keep timeouts instead of using them. The inability to play the younger players consistently. One thing I really like about Ham is making AD play center. It's not a popular sentiment, but AD is just too clumsy and injury prone to play a lot of minutes at the 4. So, I'll say it again, now that JJ is the coach I'm going to root for him. I hope the heck he surprises me. And if you care to know who I wanted the Lakers to hire? I would have like to see Kenny Atkinson. Why? He was a great coach for both DLo and Dinwiddie. Though I'm not a fan of Dinwiddie he played well under his Atkinson. Plus, I think he knows how to coach-up young players. And lastly, being an assistant under Kerr and learning his offensive scheme would have done the Lakers wonders. It's all over now. Only the future will tell the full story now.

Behind scenes: anything that comes out JJ mouth that could rub any player or players the wrong way in the locker room players gone feel like it really came from Bron. Which can cause frustration & beef cause how so close him & Bron is but u absolutely right his IQ makes him a good coaching fit.
There definitely could be some weirdness but I think it'll work out and be great.

Did you see the amount of hate I got during this process lol? Also, you understand this business is about right and wrong, Integrity and proper analysis. When I'm wrong, I own it and have even made videos calling myself out. But ppl want to listen to someone that knows what they are talking about, ppl want to listen to someone with a good track record. No one expects anyone to be right always but when I'm wrong the hate and trolling floods. It's what comes with this line of work. Watch any sports channel or ESPN, Fox ect. You get your flowers and praise when your right, you point out the right because it sways ppl and causes them to listen to you on other topics, which again what it's about is it not? Would you want to listen to some random guy that's always speaking nonsense? Also isn't media about viewership? If you get something right in your life or line of work would you not point it out?

@@AsItStandsLakers I just read a shams report and it said reddick is focusing on leveraging ad for late game situations and to release Lebron from his ball handling duties and then I see another one saying lakers look for center to pair with ad in my opinion that make me think either dejounte or Trae and Zach edey for the first round pick
