A great effort, with a pleasing result. I was surprised to see that you used MDF, again, on the replacement top. One other comment - the leg assembly lacks strapping between the remaining shorter distances. This lack of straps can undo all of your efforts very quickly. God is in the details

It's a shame you didn't apply some darker stain to the wood pulp you used to fill those worm holes. That would have camouflaged the flaws better. All in all, it is a great revitalizing effort.

I think it is because the cold, damp climate in subtropic areas makes the wood move and crack if nails are used, but it probably work in a more uniform climate, however, with modern glue i don't think it realy matter anymore.

Yes especially with running your hands over the moving blade on that jointer planer. Scared me half to death. They have pads you can use to keep your hands away from the piece your are working on. Please be careful!
