He's way better live than on his album !!
I saw him live at Crossroads 2013, the show had Eric Clapton, Robby Robertson, Taj Mahal, The Almond Brothers, Jeff Beck, and even Kieth freakin' Richards and this guy was my favorite. Had never heard of him before but now Im a die hard fanboy
at 3:06 he begins to play a part of third stone from the sun from Jimi hendrix!
I hear ya man, no one will ever play like Albert ,or Buddy,my point is guys like Gary are keeping that sound alive and real. Warren Haynes,Derek Trucks are two of the most versitile and awesome players today covering the old stuff with new energy....
21 People are tone deaf.
Did i see the cameraman havin a toke at about 1.20??
I always love the little Hendrix references that blues musicians make
this was unreal live...
Holy Shiiiiiiite - how have I not heard of GCJnr before?????
Shame on all the media I have ever listened to/seen/read!!!!
Gary - brilliant - I'll be BUYING lots of your stuff.
when you cover a tune its your sound that comes thru .ex. led zepplin
the description should not say "by gary clark jr." it should say "covered by....". i like gary....great player, great singer....but albert collin's version of this tune was FAR superior.
he's about an 8/10. i actually can play better then him, but he has cool shades, hat, hipster boots, and he's from austin, so he has a few advantages on me....
actually i do. and this one really does nothing for me compared to albert collins' version. still like clark....but this one just doesnt get there.
Just my oppinion so dont shoot me but --- The first 4 mins of this guitar was annoying .... After that though he sounded awesome .. 8)
not is the same shit this song in al the concerts, wtf? change drastically, i expect to hear the same song always , but no, WTF?
as a guitar player. this entertains the shit out of me. what the the fuck kinda guitar do you play?
How do I make it go louder than 100%?
saw him yesterday in hyde park london supporting the stones.simply awesome
Dear blues, thank you for resurfacing into popular music
the guy pretty obviously speaks english as a second language, chill out
Goode Humanoration. Search for it. This kid loves God so muchhhh!
I was hearing his album for the 1st time with my blues band, Oliver White Group and the guys were already familiar with him. We all thought he was genuine and unique b/c he plays what he wants and doesn't care what folks, or the record industry thinks. His album is incredible and so is his playing. No frills and full of diverse goodness!
so pissed I missed him last year
AdBlock does already exist for Chrome & Firefox
I'm surprised so many people understood that lol
Well then turn that song off and listen to this
when are you comming back down to Brazil?
This song reminds me of 3rd stone
nice
I was there for this..
I MUST SEE HIM LIVE !!!!
like this so much..
video for proof?
Yeah man!!
Sickening.
hear hear
Holy shit
Ha..no.
no....
Cody Chesnutt meets Jimi Hendrix. The failure rate is almost zero!
groovemondoe I made that word up and it fits!
jimi hendrix, jack white, and tom morello.... all combined into one person.
Dude, that's the whole point of being a blues artist. It isn't about trying to play the same thing the same way 10 000 times. It's about expressing yourself. You don't say the same thing everytime you're happy or sad or whatever. A true artist is able to play the same thing 1 000 different ways. Listen to any other blues artist: Hendrix, Clapton, SRV, BB King, Buddy Guy, etc.
So is dat fuzz..
We like musicians because of their style, not because of their substance. There are thousands of bedroom guitarists who can play more technically complicated, impressive passages than Stevie, Clapton, Winter, any of the Kings, the list goes on. Style is the personal statement aspect of music. Though I agree Gary Clark Jr. isn't doing anything TECHNICALLY impressive on the guitar, he has got a soulful style and substance that's missing from a lot of contemporary music.
yeah, is waht i say, i think to he touch the same version in all his concert , but no, to me start to like gary clark jr, but with this, i dont know, still, i hearing the two foundry two piece version
This is really good but I like the Foundry Two Piece version better. It has a bit more of a groove to it to me.
style and substance are one and the same, form informs content. let's face it, this man's style is cool and the associations that go with that are the substance. i dont think music is more powerful than images but as the old music biz adage goes, people hear what they see!
i saw him live today at Lollapalooza in Chicago. Whatever you guys say, that was one of the greatest performances i ever saw and he is amazing in the flesh. And, he really is that amazing.
Muito Bom mesmo. Aqui no Brasil adoramos o jeito como você aprecia e utiliza seus pedais de fuzz. Come back to Brasil man
Es-335's through Fender Vibro-Kings. This guy is topps and will only get better like a fine wine...
I am counting down the days to see this man! Reading all your post just makes beyond ready! Sept 26th The Wiltern... Good seats, Good friends and Good music. Who's coming to Cali? :) Btw...He is all over Cali this summer & everywhere else :)
Very articulate of you, he never really engaged me.
Buen trabajo.Me gusta tu música. Saludos desde Venezuela. Good Work. I love your music. Greetings from Venezuela.
Fuzz bread with Blues Jam ....my perfect meal !!
Mr. Clark is the real deal. folks!
Twang of a Strat, roar of a bucker all in one little monster. Favorite P'up hands down.
I saw him at ACL fest last year and it was unreal. Agreed with the other comments. Simply amazing.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. He's not that great.
All I hear is Third Stone from the Sun by Jimi Hendrix...
it's actually a Casino, not a 335. :)
totally agree with you though, the energy he gives in his performances are crazy.
Brilliant artist, would love to see him live in Leeds, England soon.
Best part 3:05 "no woman no cry, No, Woman, no cry"
I could be wrong but this is one of the only times I've seen him use a whammy bar.
3:05 Third Stone From The Sun, yeaaaah Gary !
seeing him the 20th... he's already knocked it outta the park for me!
music as it should be played
the riff is from third stone from the sun by jimi hendrix
meanwhile, 3 stones away... hells yeah!
4 people dont have the blues...

These fucking advertisements! When will we get an ad blocker for youtube?
I just heard about this guy in an article about Clapton's recent Crossroads show, so I dug up a few songs. Honestly, I didn't hear anything that I'd call "brilliant". In fact, this guy is among the weakest guitar payers I've seen in a while ( and I'm a long-time blues fan, and since the 1980's, I've seen SRV,Clapton, Trower, Cray,Roy Buchanon,Winter, Gibbons,B.B.King ,John Lee Hooker,Lonnie Mack,Coco Montoya,etc.etc.)
To my ear, this guy is more style over substance, and mediocre,at best.
The riff at 3:06 is from Fleetwood Mac's "Underway." The song lyrics are from Albert Collin's (maybe others too) "If You Love Me Like You Say." The solo at about 5:00 is from Jeff Beck's "Going Down." If you like this song, check out these other artists.. they are great.
didn't know django could play the guitar
