It's a very well researched video. I'm well aware of Japanese wrestling and the strong style they implement. My favourite Japanese wrestlers were Kobashi and Jumbo Tsuruta. I admit I'm not much of a fan of wrestling nowadays but from around 1990-2010 I was what you call a "die hard fan." I was even a member of two different forums. PWF being the most prominent.
The nasty boys pit stop was pretty horrendous too. And let's not forget the bushwackers. Their worst move wasn't even against an opponent, it was an assault on fans. They actually LICKED your face!

The Styles Clash is always such a bizarre move. When done correctly, it doesn't look all that devastating. But if it goes wrong, oh good Lord that dude is dead!

An all time classic. I think the German Suplex or Tiger Suplex is underrated on being dangerous. How does a wrestler not suffer concussions when landing head first onto the canvas during the German? So, why do people think wrestling is fake again?
There is actually a dangerous version of german suplex used by Manami toyata . Toyata picks up her opponent, raise them high and suddenly just drop them on the backside of there head. Till date no one else has used it
If you watch closely, the person taking the move tucks their head just right and the impact is more towards the shoulders or back than the head. They don't always land head first.

Definitely. That’s why it’s always upset me when people say it’s fake. Fake implies no one gets hurt. Sure people will fake injuries as part of the story but to call everything fake dismiss the fact that wrestlers do get damaged and injured.
5:15 ganso bomb wasn't supposed to exists , it was actually a botched powerbomb by kawada(the guy in yellow-black pants) who broke his arm earlier that match . The move was so much fucked up misawa actually had concussions, and he forgot how the match ended and kawada who won the triple crown heavyweight championship from misawa had to vacate it few days later. But since everyone who didn't knew it was botched thought it's a cool move. You can watch this match, it's available on TH-cam. It's misawa vs kawada january 1999. Fun fact :- this was giant baba's (the owner of AJPW and the master of both misawa and kawada) final match he saw. And he actually ordered this match to happen. And baba said that match was the best match he ever saw. Baba would pass away few days and this would be turning point of AJPW for worse
There's a lot of submission holds that if you apply them like pro wrestlers do, are all theater no pain. Strikes are pretty safe and painless too, unless you're taking a clothes from Bradshw or Stan Hansen.
Before AJ styles adapted the styles clash it was originally used by DDP in WCW and it was called The diamond clash. I'm also surprised that the regular piledriver not mentioned on this list because that move has broken several wrestlers necks over the years.
Tombstone variation should be on here for the simple fact no one outside of the Undertaker was basically allowed to do it for a long time. Due to neck injuries being an issue in the late 90s early 2000s he even stopped using it and finishing w/ choke slams or gates. Also, I agree w/ the Stink face comment... even if done correctly you still have a 400lb dude rubbing his sweaty crack on you!
Harley Race, the creator of the diving headbutt, has even admitted that he regrets creating the move. That's how you know a move is dangerous, when even the creator regrets it.
Al Snow had a finisher called the Snowplow that was a pile driver where the opponent's head was outside of his legs. It looked brutal, and I'm not sure how Al protected the recipient.
Interesting fact the ganso bomb was invented on accident during the match Kawada broke a bone in his fourearm and didn’t realize it was broken continued the match and if anyone has seen AJPW in the 90’s the matches can last up to 30 to 40 minutes. When he went for the power bomb due to him being extremely exhausted and having a broken bone in his forearm he couldn’t lift Misawa up all the way for the power bomb and held him up for a few seconds then dropped Misawa spiking him on his head.
Yeah that Steiner Screwdriver was ridiculous. Big Pawpuh pump should NOT have been allowed to peform that insanity. He even performed it on Owen Hart once in a match with The Steiner Brothers vs. Bret Hart and Owen Hart. I guess it was briefly banned while they were in WWF. After Vince saw it a couple times he was like "Uhh....don't do that move" haha, which was the correct call by Vince.
I was an unwilling participant when my brother and his friends performed many of these on me growing up. The first move that comes to mind is the jackknife powerbomb.
2:08 - "it's not the most technical of maneuvers" ... No. It was *actually* one of the more technical maneuvers of its time. That is why no one wanted to take it. They hadn't seen it before and it took a lot of trust/ coordination from all parties involved to ensure no neck was snapped.
The fact that there is no mention of the “Shaker Heights Spike” is almost comical. That move was so bad, that their own manager made them stop doing the move.

One move that I really don't trust the looks of is the belly to belly suplex. It's like doing a backflip over another person at ground level. I'm sure it's a safe move it just looks like it doesn't work. Compared to most of the moves on this list is probably relatively safe I just don't like the belly to belly suplex.
The Curb Stomp and Buckle Bomb were actually banned for a while due to some massive botches that happened which Seth Rollins in real life apologized for. The Curb Stomp got banned after Seth accidentally came down on the back of Edge's head instead of the side causing the Hall of Famer to go to the hospital to get checked out to see if he had a concussion during the episode of RAW were Seth as part of the kayfabe storyline blackmailed Cena to reinstate The Authority. and the Buckle Bomb got banned when Seth hit Sting with it during their infamous WWE Title match at Clash of the Champions when during a botch Sting actually hit the ringpost buckles with his back and neck nearly paralyzing the legendary wrestler.
Harley Race told Chris Benoit to stop doing the diving headbutt because it would damage his neck just like it did Race’s. Sure enough Benoit took a belly to back suplex and blew his neck out. He was out for almost a year.

The Curb Stomp got banned after Seth accidentally came down on the back of Edge's head instead of the side causing the Hall of Famer to go to the hospital to get checked out to see if he had a concussion during the episode of RAW were Seth as part of the kayfabe storyline blackmailed Cena to reinstate The Authority. and the Buckle Bomb got banned when Seth hit Sting with it during their infamous WWE Title match at Clash of the Champions when during a botch Sting actually hit the ringpost buckles with his back and neck nearly paralyzing the legendary wrestler.
