I was at HIAC this year, and seeing Cody’s injury live was horrendous. He was a real trooper for still wrestling with that injury and take that much punishment.

This is why "Wrestling is fake" is an inaccurate statement. Wrestlers are entertainers. Injuries are as real as they could get.

I remember watching that cage match when it happened. Absolutely insane what those old school hard-core wrestlers did.
Mick Foley is the undisputed king and legend of hardcore. You can have a entire list of him alone with all the brutal hardcore matches and injuries he got during them
Yep you can with all the injuries he has had over his long career.
He even mentions in his autobiography Have a Nice Day that during a now infamous match that happened during his early days using the Cactus Jack Gimmick his opponent tried to throw him over the top rope and a nasty botch happened, basically what happened was Mick instead of going over the top rope like planned got his head caught in between the top and middle ropes and when his opponent tried to get him back in the ring Mick suffered a nasty injury in the form of getting his entire ear nearly ripped off, and to everyone's surprise Mick was able to finish the match before going to the hospital and getting reconstructive surgery to reattach to his head what was left of his ear.

Another one is when Akira Hokuto had her neck broken in the first fall of a 2 out of 3 falls match after taking a second rope tombstone from her opponent. She can be seen holding her neck in place for the rest of the match.
I would have added Kenny Omega. Omega was dealing with a number of injuries, including a torn labrum in his shoulder, a hernia and issues with his knees while regularly defending 3 championships in 3 different promotions and had been struggling with vertigo since 2018.

The former 3x WCW Champion was injured during his match against Bob Holly in 2002. DDP landed wrong during a superplex but continued for a couple more minutes.
HHH also completed the best match ever (Street Fight, RR ‘00) with a massive laceration in his calf. What a match. Endlessly rewatchable.

Mankind and The Undertaker’s hell in a cell match was full of injuries and I gotta tell ya these two men are literally the most durable wrestlers I’ve ever seen in my life. Literally Taker had a broken ankle and he still fought in this match and made a masterpiece

When you see the injury happen live, it is terrifying. I remember watching Triple H tear his quadricep in his leg on live TV. All he did was take a step and it tears. He went down so hard and went into the fetal position. That was so scary. You could feel the pain through the screen. The fact that he kept going on one leg and in so much pain, I gave him all of the props.

There is one you missed. It was Bob Holly and it was an episode of him against someone I can't remember. Bob was sent flying to break a table from the apron of the ring and he cut his whole back
Other includes The Hulkster,Randy Savage,DDP,Kerry Von Erich,Bruno Sammartino,Bryan Danielson and Dusty Rhodes they won't let injuries to sideline their careers they are professional troopers.
Y'all forgetting Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero they had also suffered in injuries in their matches especially Chris you can see how much pain he was in with his broken ribs holding on to them
One of the sickest matches I’ve seen was Rey Mysterio vs Sabu at One Night Stand for the World Heavyweight Championship like literally they started the match by swing steel chairs at each other and the sound of both hitting each other sick
I'm disappointed I couldn't stand up to that level of punishment during training. I received a concussion from a powerslam that I wasn't expecting and bit a hole through by lower lip when I took an unexpected knee to the face from the internet champion of the school I was training at. I'm currently out semi-permanently after I tore some ligaments in both my ankles while working my day job.

Mick Foley and Eddie Guerrero always had my respect for the most insane things they did.
Cody Rhodes’s performance inside Hell in a Cell is one of the best I’ve ever seen. But it make you also wonder if wrestling in that condition will impact the length of his career.
The only reason why that match was allowed to go on was because the injury couldn't get worse by having a match due to it being a complete dissection of the torn pectoral muscle. If it was still partially attached, the match would've been cancelled before the show.

I remember cringing and getting nauseous when that moment happened! In the back of my mind I was thinking oh my gosh poor John.
Hardcore Holly going through with a broken neck wasn't the first time he fought injured. During an episode of ECW (WWE's version), he was in a hardcore match with RVD when he took a bump through a table. The table broke improperly and a piece of metal got into Holly's back causing a massive laceration which he ended up finishing the match with.
Bob Holly got his neck broken by Brock Lesnar because Bob Holly was sand bagging when Brock was trying to do the power bomb on him so he dropped him and broke his neck, all Bob Holly’s fault
Man, and imagine years of recovering from an injury, and lots of therapy.
7:30 Triple H also finished a match at New year's revolution 2007 with torn quad on his other leg. He also finished a match (which we had to forget actually) at Crown Jewel 2018 with a torn pec.
I have to say much respect to Vince McMahon Royal Rumble the Cena Batista tie 😬🤦♂️ Man blew out both his quads getting in the ring to fix this screw up then "refused help". Still was awkward as hell seeing him sit there.

Ah yes the infamous throw over the top rope botch.
Mick talks about it in his autobiography Have a Nice Day stating that what was supposed to happen was when Vader threw him he was supposed to go over the top rope on to the arena floor but Vader somehow botched the throw resulting in Mick getting his head caught in between the top and middle ropes and when Vader tried to get Mick back in the ring it resulted in Vader accidentally ripping 50% to 70% of Mick's right ear from his head and instead of stopping the match Mick continued and finished the match then he went straight to a hospital to get reconstructive surgery to reattach what was left of his right ear.

And how Hell In A Cell '98 isn't #1 is befuddling... Austin at #2 is a lot more like Bob Holly and Lesnar at #4, just an uglier spot. And while Triple H's quad tear was bad, Foley still racked up more injuries in just HiaC by itself.
Also: Taz's broken neck, Foley's losing of his right ear in Germany, everything FMW, numerous CZW Tournament Of Death finals, even David Arquette's run in GCW where he got gigged in the neck, they finished the match, then Luke Perry (father of Jungle Boy to younger people, Dylan McKay to everyone who was old enough to watch 90210 when it was on TV) drove his ass to the ER.
While Triple H’s performance on his torn quad is remarkable, Cody competed the ENTIRE HIAC match v. Seth with that torn bicep. IMHO, a much more gutsier performance.

Yeah and thats why Goldberg should have never been a wrestler. He couldn't wrestle at all, just complete shit in the ring. He cost us Bret Hart. Imagine the matches we may have gotten if Goldberg hadn't sucked shit. WCW was GONE shortly after that so if WWE could have gotten Bret back which at the time is a BIG "IF"....we could have seen Bret Hart vs. Eddie Guerrero, Bret Hart vs. Chris Jericho, Bret Hart vs. Brock Lesnar or what could have been one of the greatest matches of ALL TIME..... Bret Hart vs. Kurt Angle. Instead we had to see and continue to see Goldberg stink the joint out.

Literally just come from a video on the worst fake sports injuries. Footballers roll around on the ground after barely a tap, whereas wrestlers, even when things go as planned, take a beating. I'm an old school wrestling fan, Mick Foley was absolutely beyond insane.
Shawn Michaels suffered a back injury during a casket match against The Undertaker after beint tossed over the top rope and bouncing off the caske. That injury ended up being permanent and got worse over the years. He finished the match, but throughout the match, you can see HBK was in serious pain.
There is summerslam 2022, Becky separated her shoulder and fought through it. Also in the last war games, Cora dislocated her shoulder and continued through it.
You people should have added toshiaki kawada who had broken his arm in middle of the match against his arch rival mitsuharu misawa , this injuries leads to a botched powerbomb and the ending had to be improvised so a brainbuster was the finishing move of the match.
And that botched powerbomb got positive reaction since people didn't knew it was a botched, so that botched powerbomb was known as the "GANSO BOMB"

Being there at Hell in a Cell in Chicago with my dad was fun for our 2nd live wwe event and our first was SummerSlam 2021 in Las Vegas.
