The way Grimes, Naji and even Din stepped has afforded Klay less scrutiny with his shooting and overall contributions. Im not worried at all about Klay, whether he's better or worse than last season. I think there will be games where he'll shoot the lights out.

Preserving Luka’s health needs to come in reduction of his game minutes, not changing him to be unLuka-like by reducing his unassisted bucket percentage. That’s what makes him the magnet he is for defenses and it needs to be near or at the top of the league.
Naji has exceed expectations, he can be your tertiary ball handler. If he can be a consistent shooter, then that would be a big steal for the Mavs. But Im gonna give Klay some love here. One thing that amazes me is how his reputation precedes his performance. He can be shooting 20% from 3 and teams would still glue to him. I think he needs more time to adjust. Remember he has been playing a system that is the exact opposite of the Mavs system for his entire career.. Expecting him to go lights out within 2 months is ridiculous. As long as he is playing decent defense and making the right plays, Im fine with him.

I know he's been soft but it's a low risk high reward if Kidd can push and boost his confidence. He still a great defender, rebounder, playmaker. They can use him as their Draymond Green and a back up center for Lively since he can also play 5.

Unfortunately though, Luka off-ball simply means 4v4 as he just stands idlle near half court. I would say, one thing to the next level is for him not to be a lazy defender. He's the weakest link in defense as he's more willing to get blown by and leave the other 4 players makinh up for that.

As funny as it sounds Luka has to be better in 1v1s. OKC and other opponents only blitz(really their only chance to blitz) Luka with doubles is when he calls for the pick N Roll. Forcing the ball out of his hands into Lively and forcing Lively to be the decision maker either to attack as a post scorer(which he is nowhere near developed for) or to pass which leds to bad turnovers as he also lets the ball slip out of his hands. Those are areas in which Gafford beats Lively in at this stage of development. Luka actually had the right approach in that OKC game(shot selection wise)just got to clean up the turnovers which he had 6 of them and only 5 assists. Rare and even rarer for him to only have 5 field goals made. The positives are that he is looking healthier in this season and that game he looked tired but so did the rest of the Mavs minus Naji/Klay. Luka started this season injured. Making it hard for him to gain rhythm and even harder for him to build chemistry with Klay as result of said sluggish start. So its a delicate process right now. Klay is only going to be as effective depending on Luka's abilities as a passer as he is the point guard on this team. Its his job to get others involved first before himself. Its hard to do that when you yourself isn't right at 100% at the start. Give him time.
He has not been a primary ball handler in europe or in national team before his second NBA season...you guys should take the blame for changing lukas game to be based on this high usage rate because the team around him was nowhere near good with the ball

OKC was their biggest game of the year and he went five for 10 and 19 points. Can’t ask for more than that.

Under his leadership the Mavs have gone to the western conference finals, tanked for the draft (which worked out for us) and then made the finals.
