They have more multi dimensional players, they adjusted their offence to be more inclusive-not so just Luka dependent, they are finally all adjusting, spacing is there and started to hit 3.
I have been saying all season Dallas is the most versatile offensive team in the league. We can iso's, post up, spot up, PnR, midrange, 3pt shooting everything you need from a championship offense.
Exciting to all the role players finding their niche. Club really looks strong. Also excited to see Emanuel Miller and Jamarion Sharp playing as well as we were hoping for in the G league. Keep up the progress.
I am sure the coaching staff will do what needs to be done by the end of the season. Offensive consistency was the missing ingredient in the Finals. Seems they are most focused on figuring that out first.
Lively needs to step up defensively. He is too relaxed on switches that leave shooters open and doesn't hard contest guy's driving against him going towards the rim. He'll put a hand up but he won't swat at the ball. He needs to be better out there.
Lively isn't ready to be starter. Gafford outrebounds him off the bench, and Lively offers ZERO significant change as a starter. Fans have fallen in love with Lively due to his ability to speak wisdom beyond his age.
I disagree, I dont think Lively is perfect by any means, but I believe when he is on the floor our def rating is 102 which is elite. He might be our best defender in terms of importance besides maybe PJ.
@nicholaspowell9375 That's not what these 2 games vs Okc and the Warriors showed as they've attacked Lively in space. He is supposed to be our best mobile center in space and he needs to show it as these last 2 games weren't it. I'll give him leeway as Naji been out who can manage those defensive assignments by committee but he needs to step it up. Especially when Gafford is largely underappreciated by fans.
@ all im saying is I dont think that it is all his fault. In general our defense wasnt as good as it should have been those games, but I dont think that should raise any concerns unless its an issue over a larger sample size. Gafford is great in my opinion, however I dont think he is as good of a defender as Lively in space. Overall, I actually think once the game slows down in the playoffs all of our guys are going to be even better.
@@PeterWilson-c3u this is really bad take. All the advanced stats show that the team is better defensively with DLive in the floor. Gafford is one of the worst rebounding centers in the league and has been for years.
I realize why Nico brought him back bc Spencer does have an interesting ability that compliments Lukas playstyle. Which is isolation and his ability to hit TOUGH shots in your face. In the beginning of the season I thought he was just taking bad shots but he actually regularly hits those. He’s also an underrated ball handler on the team. He’s pretty good at handling the ball

Among lineups with at least 200 possessions, the Mavericks' starting lineup has an offensive rating of 132.4, ranking first. How much more elite do you want? Just play them more!
The mavs have so much depth now they have multiple 3rd guys at times. You can argue is the center position. Also i wonder what they would look like with a more healthy team
To be elite Luka gotta be healthy, Irving gotta be aggressive. Klay gotta hit his 3. PJ/Naji/Grimes/SD gotta be solid. Liv and Gafford stay out of foul trouble/ make your free throws and lock down the paint on D. Omax and next inline players play with great energy when on the floor lock down on D and hit your wide open 3 above 36%. Do it and we back in finals against Celtics or Cavs which will be a heck of a series. Three great teams. Gotta beat Thunder which is a big mountain to climb but if above we can beat Thunder.
Mavs are to train their own guys to create their own shots. This should be the foremost priority, since it's what makes a team elite. Both Luka and Kyrie can teach everyone shot creation. It's not rocket science....
We have the best offensive rating in the league right now. Thats not elite? Once naji is back, and we brin in finney or herb or nance jr. this will be scary and the league will be on notice.
Boston overall shooters are great 3 point shooters. Our current roster simply cant shoot as well. Then Celtics 2 centers Portz/Hartford no contest in their shooting vs. Liv and Gafford and they never will be. So how do you off set just the centers shooting, simple pound their ass in the paint. Dunk or get em in foul trouble while staying out of foul trouble. You will not win the point battle of centers. To the wings make our threes at the level they are, big challenge. Last the guards here we can offset the point difference to the centers. Irving has to overcome his mental block of playing in Boston
Just read that PJ mocked Curry with his night night before sitting down. Mr. Washington you are not that good to mock one of the best if not the best shooter in NBA history. If e comes back and lays 50 on your ass remember you asked for it. Moral to the story "Don't poke the bear unless you can back it up and you CAN'T)
You get back Exum and Marshall for the bench and it’s a pretty f***ing elite offense. Will we get stops late with Klay, Luka and Kyrie on the floor. That’s the question. All are pretty spent by the fourth quarter DEFENSIVELY.
Giving up a 1st round pick is a huge xD. He is just a backup combo forward at this point. I would prefer to count on OMax before giving up a 1st for Dorian. Kleber, Hardy and a 2nd round pick is all I can offer.
Our problems are #1. We have to have Luka & Irving both playing great to beat good teams. The Celics, Thunder & Cavs are simply deeper on both offense and Defense. Their D on ball and in space is simply better. We talk about how great Liv and Gafford are yet in covering in space they get killed. On the O side outside 3 feet they are not good. Now to our biggest weakness IMO, our #3 thur #8 or 5 players. Are simply not consistent as the other top teams. To win ring we simply have to have Luka and Irving playing very well. But Klay, PJ, Grimes, Naji, Liv & Gafford have to be better against the top teams because they take away some of Luka and Irving clear looks. Klay, PJ, Grimes, Naji & Liv are our key role players that must play well for us to win.
I’m gonna be real. I don’t see Celtics winning games or a series with either Tatum or Brown injured. I’m not saying they’re not deep but I think people overestimate it. They’re just a couple injured players away from being totally garbage.
Disagree. I think Dallas might be the deepest team in the league. They went 6-1 with their best player out with wins over OKC and Denver. I don’t see another team being able to do that.
Our biggest weakness is our depth? You typed out a bunch of bogus. No shit we need our best players to play well to beat good teams, but our role players have been great and we literally went 5-1 without Luka…

Jimmy just gives you a much better chance at beating Celtics and Okc and I don’t think it’s that much of a debate.
