  • this adventure takes us to upper lake Clemintine near Auburn California. lake Clemintine trail to the dam is an awesome hike but above the dam is this amazing lake. approximately 3.5 or 4 miles one way this lake will not disappoint. it's rarely busy, I believe due to the rough road you have to take to get there. with very few beaches lining the lake it makes for an amazing paddle down to lower lake clementine; gives you the feeling your paddling in the middle of no where. the water is crystal clear and temperatures are perfect for swimming. $10 for parking or a state parks pass works too. the swimming is most popular by the parking lot area. Taylor's at the end of this video is approximately 20 minutes away from the ranger station.

    Back in the 70’s & 80’s this was a hidden little paradise. It was so remote we used to camp & skinny-dip down there all the time. Now it’s packed solid all summer.

    On the weekends the cars line up for 1/2 mile prior to the gate opening. Now you need reservations to go there on the weekend...CRAZY!

      What time do you think I would need to get there? I have a reservation and it opens at 8 but not sure what time to line up for a good spot

    Robbers Roost was where they would view people coming to town. It was a Lookout Point.

    Beautiful, I don't love the dirt road especially when you have to share with another car but, it is soooo worth it. I really enjoyed kayaking there. So calm and pretty.

    Again, we always drive by Lake Clementine, yet have never gone. Great video, and I believe I could manage that drive. Anywhere where there is less people lol! Funny you went to Taylors. Never been there but just this past week we tried the GastroPub just across the street and I was like, "Oh, that's where Taylor's is...." Was delish!

      Thanks! And yes about the crowds! With virtually no places to hang out on the side of the lake it helps cut down on crowds. Love this place. We've always wanted to try that pub place out.

    Looks like fun! I tend to stop at Newcastle Produce on the way home from those remote Auburn destinations, but that variety of milkshakes sounds pretty good. 👍🏻

      It's amazing the amount of milkshakes they can make! Taste pretty good after the lake clementine paddle.

    This lake gets VERY busy during the summer. Party boats, campers, water skiers, picnickers, kids & floaty toys, fishermen. Most kayakers and canoeists avoid this place in Summer. We paddle from Lower Clementine the rest of the year. In Winter, its doesn't just "seem" remote - it is. If you paddle to the top in January, you are OUT THERE.

      I've had people tell me this. I guess I've always lucked out🤔. I do always go during the weekdays and mornings. Always looks like it does in this video. Interesting. I'm sure one of these trips I'll see the crowds people are talking about 🙂.

    Hey, thanks for the videos, great channel. I'm in the rancho cordova area and I go to Auburn to hike quite a bit but I'm looking for a trail/trails that have water access with almost no foot traffic so I can go with my dog. Any ideas from Rancho to auburn to placerville etc if you have any out of the way spots that people wont most likely be at?

      Thank you! Off the top of my head, Tamaroo Bar in the Auburn state recreation area. It's a bit of a hike but river access with very few people. I did a video hiking there, talking scary stories and hiking to Tamaroo bar; something like that. I'll think on it more...in the mean time here is the Tamaroo video link... th-cam.com/video/5gy9Ba02Qsc/w-d-xo.html

    So when you say there’s barely no beaches is there areas where you can river camp? Or pull of to have lunch, or to hammock, or is everything mostly a climb?

    • @ChooseAdventureCaliforniaStyle
      @ChooseAdventureCaliforniaStyle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a small campground there where you can also bring your boat. There are not a lot of places to get out of the river and hang out but there are a few; small areas. So if you were paddling you could definitely find a spot to pull over and have lunch or set up a hammock; there just arnt a lot of spots.

    • @ChooseAdventureCaliforniaStyle
      @ChooseAdventureCaliforniaStyle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This spot is excellent for beginners! A lot of spots you can stand up in the water. If it's windy it can pose a small challenge in paddling against the wind. Great place. Check the weather, low to no wind is excellent 🙂
