These have to be some of the most fascinating videos on your channel, only rivaled by the natural behavior of what are often considered "wild fish" in your aquariums. Local flora and fauna is just so diverse!

I am enjoying your videos so much! Your life sounds amazing. Crabs/lobsters and other crustaceans are some of my absolute favorite animals and I've been obsessed with squat lobsters lately so seeing all kinds of crabs and lobsters and squat lobsters in your videos makes me really happy and I find it very relaxing. Crab is also one of my favorite foods and it would be so nice to eat some of your catch and check out critters with you. Living the dream :)

Coming in contact with all these cool little critters is a big bonus of my work though for sure, as that's always been a big interest of mine. Didn't have the brains for the marine biology route, so this was the next best thing I guess, hehe.. Do you keep any crustaceans in aquariums yourself btw?

Yeah, that was pretty cool! Never seen one of those before. Such a weird, but awesome looking creature!
@@ColdwaterTanks sad to say this but you where right when you said that the jellyfish was dead or close to dieing most deep water animals can't survive in the shallower area's they die by a extreme case of decompresseon sickness or the rough water tears them up
@@derrickhageman1969 Yeah, I suspected as much.. Totally different environment down there in the deep. Much of the creatures that live down there just look out of this world though. So fascinating. Thanks for the info! Much appreciated!

Gorgeous eagle!! We're we grew up on the Klamath River in Requa CA. we had Ospreys, really awesome birds and fun to watch them fish. Really enjoyed this video... Thanks!! 👍🏻😀
Yeah, Eagles are spectacular! That's cool! Though they are supposed to be in Norway, I've never seen an Osprey myself. Cool looking birds! Glad you enjoyed it mate! 😁
I was hoping to see another fishing video Simon, it really is very interesting. I manage to keep the Cowries alive by providing their food which is the Star Sea Squirt Botryllus schlosseri (try saying that 5 times quickly).
Glad you like it! Seems to be more popular than the tank videos tbh, so I'll do more "non-tank" videos in the future for sure.. Really? Was not aware that's what they ate. I see quite a bit of that, so I'll have to try them again myself at some point then. Do the sea squirt grow in the tank as well, or do you have to get new regularly once it's eaten ?

Thanks Ken! Never tried dungeness or red rock crabs tbh, as they're not in Norwegian waters. I've still to eat a crab I didn't like though, hehe. So tasty!
Brown crab is one of favorite sea animals for sure. When I was 4-5 years my neighbour often caught a few and I got to come over and "play" with them on the lawn. When I was a bit older we used to search for young brownies during lowtide, quite scarce from what I remember, near my grand parents summer place. Bit different in color and shape from the normal shore crabs which I guess caught my interest.
Yeah, they're cool crabs! I've spent a lot of time around beaches and rockpools in my youth, but I never saw one of them in the tidal zone.. They must stay a but deeper in my area. All I saw were shore crabs...
Nice video! 👍 I've seen you tried blue lights on your tank, but there weren't a lot of changes. Since you have opportunity to get those little snailfish, you can try blue light on them plus deep yellow filter for your eyes or camera (piece of coloured acrylic glass is ok). Biofluorescence in cold water species is rare, but those fish are reported to glow with green and red when young. Also baby lumpfish may glow in green. I havn't tried it in cold water yet, so it's interesting does it work or not. In tropical waters it looks realy fascinating.
Those two nudis (dorids i think) were feeding in fact, the bryozoan on kelps is their menu 😀
Hmm, that sounds interesting! I had no idea! Sadly I'm not fishing in that area anymore until next year, but I'll definitely try that next year then! :)
The bryozoan is the white thing with like tiny "square pattern" on the kelp in the video? If so, it should be possible to keep these nudibranch in a tank, as that's pretty easy to find.

Thank you very much! Glad you liked it! A decent mobile camera goes a long way these days I think. I just struggle with "shaky cam" sometimes. Wondering about trying a GoPro for these kinds of videos tbh..
@@ColdwaterTanks It didn’t seem too shaky but you can always try stabilizing the footage after in your video editor. Or you can get a gimbal that stabilizes the camera while you hold it. Though I have to admit, I do get a bit sick of seeing these crabs at the end of the season, they're really good, so I do eat it regularly. Many ways to make it really tasty!

You're very welcome! Glad you found it interesting! I have done that on a couple of occasions I have to admit... I try mostly including stuff that won't grow too big, but sometimes I get too tempted, and include species that outgrows my tanks...

Me too.. I've always loved the ocean! This is a place called Hitra, which is an island in the middle of Norway.
Your Edible Crab looks to be the same as what the U.S. calls Stone Crab. We only eat the claws. Is it the same for yours?
Never heard of stone crabs tbh.. Looked them up, and they do indeed look similar. You can eat much of the insides of our crabs though. (It's a bit of work getting to the meat in there, but many like that...) There's also some brown stuff (and eggs at the right time of year) that's edible and tasty, but should be eaten sparingly..

Not sure what you're referring to tbh? All I see are the ropes for the traps, and a big piece of chain link that I use as a weight/sinker for some deep water Norway lobster traps..
