    I started flying in a 1946 Aeronca Chief, no starter, had to hand prop it. That thing loved to spin. A friend of mine, an A&E mechanic stripped it down, welded the tubing where needed and eventually wound up with an airplane that looked better than new. Ground loops and spins are something that most pilots today know little or nothing about. Thank you for this video.

    Thanks, Dwayne! You did under $50K? Wow! Thanks! Not everyone can afford a new Mercedes. But you can still buy a CL -500 for less than $10K.
    An older Cessna 150 or 152 could be in someone's budget. Therefore enticing them to learn to Fly and then buying a used aircraft they could afford.
    Especially a younger person, who might someday become a Fighter Pilot.

    Old Beechcraft Musketeer or the Sundowner and Yes all the Piper Tailwheels and I was taught how to fly a PA-12 with the 115 HP vs the 135 hp

    The Tiger is great but good luck finding one, especially on the lower end that is also airworthy.

    The Sierras are a great complex aircraft to flying and the safest of getting out in a hurry with the two doors which you can get your passengers out first to go left seat and right seat to safety.

      The 2 doors is also why I like the Sundowner, too old to be crawling across.

    I've seen videos of the T tail Trauma-hawk waggling during a spin. No thanks. Left out the Tripacer.

    Dwayne I’m not sure where you are getting these prices especially lately but a Grumman tiger currently is ranging in the over 100k. 2 years ago they could be had for 50k or so.

      Yup. You can find the Yankee and I think Cheetah for less, but to get the four seats and performance of the Tiger it's definitely not cheap.

    what is a good beginner plane that can reach 600 to 700 miles?

    I dunno, I think driving 155mph in the autobahn would be safer and make more sense.
    Not to mention with planes you have to worry about landing/takeoff which you can't fit in your back yard, hangar storage and insane insurance. I doubt plane could be justified other than sport/thrill.
    Imo best form of transport is 250mph trains + an ebike XD

    How come the Musketeer series is so slow!?! They don't look slow, but even the retractable is supposed to be slow. 😅

    Weren't those Bonanza V-tails what they used to refer to as "doctor killers"? I've heard their reputation is not great.

    • @SonoranAstro
      @SonoranAstro ปีที่แล้ว

      they are fine, just not something you can hop in and fly without getting used to

    • @dakotaautosales9673
      @dakotaautosales9673 ปีที่แล้ว

      They used to be called doctor killers because the V Tail would fold but only at excessive speeds

      I’m not sure what you mean by saying “unfortunately there are still people that want to purchase them”? They are a delightful plane to fly and fun to spin.

    The word “affordable” does not apply to private aviation any more….
    “Absurd” is more like it….
