I guess a little bit of both. The organizers announced we were going to start in our own categories and asked us to set according to some signs that were barely visible. Nobody paid attention anyways. The problem is that then they changed it to be just a mass start. By then, I was behind all of the ones that never moved back to their groups.

No, but I have broken both my wrists and tibia. I couldn't feel it at all (I guess from the cold) and couldn't move it. Turned out to be just a a big hit to the base of the metatarsal and swelling of the joint.
I agree. This was a race in benefit of the park and trail system, so that part wasn't looked at too much. In other races, there would have been quite a few disqualifications for sure.

i ride markham park all the time. i like to go on weekdays when it's mostly empty. this is the most stressful time i've ever seen there

Good one. This was only the first lap. 7 more laps to go, which were way faster than this one, for obvious reasons.
Some of those racers were pretty aggressive. In my country they might have gotten disqualified if someone had reported to the Marshals
