  • Have you seen these Ultem (Polyetherimide or PEI) pens on Ebay or AliExpress? If not you probably will soon. These are an interesting, EDC-inspired design that actually makes for a pretty cool pen. You can find them here: ebay.us/RQpts0

    Love Ultem as a material and very happy to see more and more products using it. Thanks for pointing out these pens - surprisingly nice from the design standpoint given the price point.

    Really love this material compared to Lamy 2000 (Makrolon) when it comes to durability and longevity PEI is typically more durable and has a longer lifespan in high-temperature and chemically aggressive environments. On the other hand (Makrolon), while less heat-resistant, is valued for its excellent impact resistance and is more cost-effective for applications not requiring the high performance of PEI. Really loved this review!!

    I tried to find out more about the manufacturer. It seems that these pens were made especially for this AliExpress/Taobao shop. Who made them? Impossible to find out. There is no clue given. The shop is called "XGEDC", which stands for "Small high-end boutique of EDC outdoor equipment" according to their promotional information in Chinese.
    From what I gather, Ultem/PEI is the new trendy material in China. Not so long ago, it wasn't available. Today, this engineered polymer is available at an affordable price. Maybe someone has started producing it in China.

    Fun fact: I was just looking at these on aliexpress when your video came out. I've also seen a bolt action variant similar to TT makes. Seriosly considering ordering one. Cheers!

      Haven’t tried the bolt action yet but it does seem quite popular

    Hi! A new viewer here just wants to ask: What are you going to do with all your pens, pencils, and paper? Do you use them for journaling, drawing, or anything else?

    • @unsharpen
      @unsharpen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All sorts of stuff, but I do extensive note taking which is the number one use of pens and ink. I find hand written notes aid the memory greatly.

    Comprehensive review! Does this plastic only come in yellow, or are there other colours (like Translucent black for eg)?

      Only this yellow/orange that I’ve seen.

      If I'm not mistaken, that's the color of this type of durable plastic.
