    I was there. 18 years old. Never heard or seen Killing Joke before, they totally blew me away. Changed my life from that moment on.

    I was there. When The band started there were people all around them all over the monument and the lions. Sometime during third song the police had moved the crowd away, the bright colours, people having a good time were replaced by uniformed bobbies, their blue coats and shiny silver buttons flanked the band, it was the weirdest spectacle, from light to dark, the band started in crazy chaos and ended in a sort of euphoric blast from the crowd but surrounded by ....pigs, basically. Not sure how they got away, it was a little bit of anarchy, and it was amazing, unforgettable, fucking awesome energy

    The energy of KJ from 79 until 82 was incredible. Youth was a sonic and visual anchor

    I was there on a flatbed truck with Inner City Unit. We got to the square just in time to catch this. The cops had separated us from the main march for being too noisy. They split us from the main march and put us on a separate route. I was there mostly to record the rolling gig as we progressed. It was a great day.

      Was it that Summer I met a load of ICU punk tribe at Glastonbury, the band had their own marquee I think?

    41 years later Craig Robertson son is still at Hyde Park waiting for his dad to give him a lift home. He is now getting very bored as he is still there & is 46 now. So long ago Killing Joke have split up.

      @@hopebgood Then the Pop Group must have played more than one of those demos. When I saw them there - 1981? - they were set up at the foot of Nelson's Column between the lions (whereas Killing Joke mention being in front of the National Gallery) and there were only three of them, so it must have been just before they split. And I don't remember Killing Joke or anyone else playing, though of course they could have done before I got there.

    • @francismansell8389
      @francismansell8389 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hopebgood Damn! I missed Killing Joke. But I definitely saw a quote from someone in Killing Joke that they played at one of those demos and were set up in front of the National Gallery, so unless their memory is wrong - or they're describing it in a confusing way -they may have played at more than one.
