In this review, I'm testing the SU-013, a small diaphragm FET condenser microphone on multiple sources: Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Drums, Piano and Vocals, and putting it up against one of my favourite vintage microphones, a Neumann KM56! I am a musician and this july we are going to record our first cover on a professional mic.I found this channel while searching for help as i have no idea ho to record a song ,mix it and make it sound good like professionals.Please Please someone help me and tell me few things. 1:What software is perfect and easy for recording vocals. 2-How to edit our tune the vocals like professional studios do.(like if plugins are required for the software you'll mention above please do mention them too) and 3-How to mix those vocals with song how to fit em in them to make them sound fresh cover straight from an expensive studio. Why are we going with recording on our own?Because we cannot afford studios.So please help me asap.

The KM 56 is Godly on acoustic guitars.. I like the Soyuz as well.. From what I hear, you are absolutely right. The KM 56 is very controlled and subtle which has this beautiful outcome. I really love the detail with the Soyuz SU-013. I'm definitely going to look into the SU-013. Thanks for sharing such a detail review review Warren.
I have the matched pair of the tube 013. Marvelous pair. I can compare to a well matched set of AKG C28b tube mics. The Soyuz are quieter but both sets are otherwise stunning.
Good enough to put on Sgt Peppers!! Definite influence there. Mike is great. When I saw the name I thought it might be more exotic and spaceage, but it really is down to earth and thick.
A nice song, wouldn't mind hearing all of it! I think I preferred the KM56 on the acoustic, but overall the SU-013 sounded great. Loved the piano sound especially!

I like how it's an SDC but has none of that brittle high-end that is reminiscent of other popular models. If you need more highs you can always add it with a nice EQ :)
A cool position for one mic on drums is kind of under the ride, over the kick pointed towards the snare. Would've gotten a way better balance that way! Also.. Who was the rock star? ;)
Woah, I would love to have a pair of these. I was looking for small diaphragm condensers a while back, and unfortunately the Soyuz were just out of my price range. I did however settle on the Lewitt LCT-340 which is quickly becoming one of my favorite mics. Wish me luck!
Seems like the condensing helps to bump up the volume to make the dynamics more noticeable. It's also very "creamy" sounding towards the lower-mids and low end. It's definitely interesting.
just a tip when playing with ear defenders on drums, the stick will do the work on hi hat else it can make you think the hi hat is too loud, not position so much, internal dynamics, great mic
Bravo! I hear 70-ies Pink Floyd and beatles in the chords. Next you know Warren breaks out the power chords and does a Nirvana chorus. Amazing how well the piano fits into the spectrum. Thank you.

Hello! Did you do any mastering to the voice track? It sounds metalic (i don't have a better word to describe what I hear). Also i would love to win these mics, right now when I'm recording a song and i wan't to play guitar and sing at the same time i have to record my electroacoustic using DI, so it loses on quality. Matched pair like these would be perfect.

Anoosh Qainan wow! Sorry just saw this! Have you used any particular DAW before? If you have knowledge of one then I would suggest using that! Knowing your DAW is the most important thing! I use a Pro Tools, however depending on what genre you’re doing that could decide on the DAW. Ableton is really popular with EDM guys for instance!

Just the other day, i had to do some (quite involved) maintenance work on my "home" audio interface, as you can read there :) Still needs one converter chip replaced, but i can do without that, for the time being.

You should stop doing these sponsored gear reviews as everyone has to assume your opinion is biased. I'd much rather watch comparisons where you are not accepting free giveaway merchandise or sponsorship, so that I may actually trust your reviews as impartial. Sponsored "unboxing" videos are worse than worthless as they waste viewers time.
These videos are NOT sponsored! No money changes hands! I search out great inexpensive equipment that I think will really benefit people! Hello! Did you do any mastering to the voice track? It sounds metalic (i don't have a better word to describe what I hear).
Also i would love to win these mics, right now when I'm recording a song and i wan't to play guitar and sing at the same time i have to record my electroacoustic using DI, so it loses on quality. Matched pair like these would be perfect.

I am a musician and this july we are going to record our first cover on a professional mic.I found this channel while searching for help as i have no idea ho to record a song ,mix it and make it sound good like professionals.Please Please someone help me and tell me few things. 1:What software is perfect and easy for recording vocals. 2-How to edit our tune the vocals like professional studios do.(like if plugins are required for the software you'll mention above please do mention them too)
and 3-How to mix those vocals with song how to fit em in them to make them sound fresh cover straight from an expensive studio.
Why are we going with recording on our own?Because we cannot afford studios.So please help me asap.
Anoosh Qainan wow! Sorry just saw this! Have you used any particular DAW before? If you have knowledge of one then I would suggest using that! Knowing your DAW is the most important thing! I use a Pro Tools, however depending on what genre you’re doing that could decide on the DAW. Ableton is really popular with EDM guys for instance!

Just the other day, i had to do some (quite involved) maintenance work on my "home" audio interface, as you can read there :) Still needs one converter chip replaced, but i can do without that, for the time being.

You should stop doing these sponsored gear reviews as everyone has to assume your opinion is biased. I'd much rather watch comparisons where you are not accepting free giveaway merchandise or sponsorship, so that I may actually trust your reviews as impartial. Sponsored "unboxing" videos are worse than worthless as they waste viewers time.
These videos are NOT sponsored! No money changes hands! I search out great inexpensive equipment that I think will really benefit people! In case you may not have noticed I feature a lot of different microphones, the thing they all have in common is they are inexpensive and sound amazing! I wish you all the best in your future endeavours!
I'm sorry, I thought you had said in your videos that manufactures were giving you equipment to review and giveaway. I'm sure you and your subscribers, such as myself, realize that free equipment to review and giveaway is no different than being sponsored. That's why consumer reports buys the products they review in lieu of accepting free products from manufactures. It keeps the reviews unbiased.
If you are purchasing the equipment yourself, I apologize for my mistake. Although I know very little about equipment or recording, I still enjoy your videos. Good luck also in your future endeavors and have a fantastic day.
HI Richard, although I do appreciate everyone's opinion, however saying my reviews are 'worthless and waste of everyone's time' doesn't compute in my world. Seeing as you admit to not having any knowledge of this process I'll educate you, we do often buy equipment and review it and then give it away. We also often insist that if someone wants us to review then they HAVE to let us give it away to our subscribers. Just to be clear they often don't want to do that! We reward our subscribers! I do fully impartial reviews and many times I offer up the files so you can listen for yourself! I know our subscribers are very smart and are able to make up their own minds by listening to the recordings and choosing for themselves!
