Maybe check out some of his more recent live performances to see whether he has improved? Please go easy on Feanna, this was 4 years ago when she was 19. This is Ian's song and she sings in a male key, and bass is not her strength. Maybe check out her rendition of "Vampire" by Olivia Rodrigo. She is one of the better young pop singers in HK. She is 23 now and she released her first song at the age of 14. After a hiatus of a few years when she studied in the UK, she returned to the HK music scene in 2023. Of course, there is always room for improvement. Hins has over 25 years' experience as a professional singer and his rendition of this song is undoubtedly (and not surprisingly) better.

In this chanel, video made 4 years ago is considered new because they are benchmarking jacky cheung’s old video 😂. How about recent songs like 緊急聯繫人？ boyfriend materials? Recent cantopop market stresses more on new song creation, expressing their views beyond love while in mainland ppl are increasingly focused on perfection of technique and repeatedly sing old songs 😂 like JJ that they love, most reactions are on his cover only. Hins is still putting a lot of his thoughts in new songs that resonate with ppl.
Great to have more Hins reaction videos as he’s a really good vocalist and the reference value is high. But it would be more respectful if you can focus when listening and filming the video:)

being a non native cantonese speaker, to me, (gong dong wa) is my freaking most favourite asian language of all time. Must be the emotional attachment i have to all the tvb and cantopop i watched and listened to as a teen til now =) I honestly feel that rozette needs to take basic canto lessons in order to understand and better appreciate canto pop. It's starting to irk me how she constantly criticises how canto songs are being sung. You're too narrow minded and just focus too much on what you're used to instead of bringing an open mind to the table. Thank god for Jay but he caves in under the immense pressure to agree with you sometimes and that's tragic really.

@viviennehmlai everytime she judges how the singers enunciate during a canto song I just want to scream in frustration, woman this is HOW the song is meant to be sung, it is part and parcel and beauty of the language!! It's because she's so disconnected to the songs that she only sees the so called technical *errors*. I'm not even cantonese ( I'm hakka) yet I totally get it. She should just stop reviewing all cantonese singers and songs henceforth. To spare my heart from breaking further.

The duet between Ian and Feanna was from 4 years ago. Please watch a newer version of this song if you really want to judge someone’s singing ability. Hin’s version was from last year and Hins he has been in the industry for over 20 years. He’s lot older and much more experienced. It’s really not a fair comparison at all. I don’t know who this vocal coach is but I feel like she’s being very disrespectful and obviously knows nothing about Hong Kong or Cantonese music. The fact that they keep talking about Jacky Cheung who is a singer from the 90’s is very telling. Come on it’s 2024 already! I don’t think the western way of singing will work on a cantopop song at all and will just sound wrong. Open your ears and your eyes and then maybe your mind won’t be so narrow. Your way is not the only way.
I find it fascinating that the review content is based on performance from local artists across Asia, and yet the two hosts with Asian backgrounds that chose and provided the material to the voice coach wouldn’t bother to do some basic research and provide a bit more background of the artist, who wrote the music etc. A quick Google search would have confirmed Ian Chan was indeed the composer of this song and also the lyricist, instead of just saying “I think he wrote it”. We don’t expect you to promote each singer but at least give credits where it’s due. As for the female singer, her name is Feanna Wong who debuted in HK when she was 14 back in 2015. I didn’t know this information until 2 mins ago but I find it a bit disrespectful that when the vocal coach asked “who’s the girl”, the other 2 hosts just responded with “I don’t know her” when you picked this piece of performance to be reviewed to begin with, at least find out who she is? This isn’t the first time I’ve noticed this pattern, it’s happened consistently that if it’s an artist the hosts like, they can go on and on about them (which is nostalgic and I personally enjoy tbh), but when basic questions such as who [insert less known artist] is, when was this song released, who wrote it, etc were asked, it’s often to hear “we don’t know/ not sure/ I *think* it’s so and so” with little to no effort to verify. Keep up the great content but a little extra effort goes a long way, especially it’s difficult enough as it is to release original canto pop nowadays.

If you want to investigate a bit more Cantonese songs in current days, I do suggest Jason Chan, or a rock band Rubberband (the vocal is one of the best). Female singer, Gin Lee and Cloud Wan are also doing very good job.

解釋一下為什麼有些人會覺得Ian和黃淑蔓唱得不好，想平反一下。
1.本身歌曲不是設計做為合唱歌，為了合唱他們做了升2 key的改動，對兩人都不是最好的key，尤其是對女生而言，這個key是偏低，會唱得比較「平淡」。這種情況而言跟張敬軒版本比較是不公平的，因為張敬軒可以選自己最佳的key去唱。（但無論如何我認為張是唱得更好，一貫地唱得很好）
2.Ian 和黃淑蔓的版本明顯地沒多大修音，你會聽到一些輕微走音和甚至聽到聲音在顫抖。在這個世代，這種呈現真實的片段是非常難能可貴。而且我可以說，大部份粵語音樂節目的製作，在真實性上都比內地、西方、日本、韓國的製作強很多，很多演唱都很真實地暴露歌手缺陷，這是整個粵語歌大環境最要去珍惜的風氣之一，別個地區的歌手你甚至沒有聽過他真實的聲音，因為所有片段都是精修的，那些歌唱節目唱功看起來很強的歌手，其實跟Ian也是差不多程度的唱功，這是事實。你說fan cam能作準？fan cam都不算什麼，舞台聲音的輸出本身就有大量reverb和可能的即時autotune，真實性根本比不過這種把聲音收得超清然後又不怎麼去修音的音樂節目。
我完全不理解為何港樂現場錄影大部份都不做精修，事實就是這樣，當今世界的清泉。
我覺得他們真的唱得不錯，但如果你聽慣味精／cd，這些香港歌手現場你是不會聽慣的。

Ian把聲係好聽,特別是唱慢歌,但認同老師說法Ian唱歌缺乏 support, vocal foundation 唔夠,所以由其是唱live好明顯唔入咪,唱廣東話係比較容易有push感,cus it’s Cantonese pronunciation. 軒公當然同Ian冇得比較,軒公功力深厚！

This isn’t the first time I’ve noticed this pattern, it’s happened consistently that if it’s an artist the hosts like, they can go on and on about them (which is nostalgic and I personally enjoy tbh), but when basic questions such as who [insert less known artist] is, when was this song released, who wrote it, etc were asked, it’s often to hear “we don’t know/ not sure/ I *think* it’s so and so” with little to no effort to verify.
Keep up the great content but a little extra effort goes a long way, especially it’s difficult enough as it is to release original canto pop nowadays.

感覺旁邊個兩位華人主持對香港樂壇不熟悉, 只知道如張學友那些舊一輩的歌手, 或者是現時比較有話題性的歌手, 其實香港還有其他好歌手啦...e.g. 小肥, c allstar, 林奕匡等等
p.s. SoulJase 版的騷靈情歌 也是一流的

If you want to investigate a bit more Cantonese songs in current days, I do suggest Jason Chan, or a rock band Rubberband (the vocal is one of the best). Female singer, Gin Lee and Cloud Wan are also doing very good job.

其实除了re唱功，我觉得可以re下各国歌曲的作曲编曲方面。以前一直觉得华语歌几十年来好像都差不多，反观韩国和欧美都很新潮，一直在变，当然可能跟韩国紧跟欧美潮流也有关。
