Well, I chose a degree in French and German, but before that there were British A-levels with Camus & Sartre and German literature which wasn’t a barrel of laughs. L’Étranger, La Nausée, La Peste... and on to documentary drama about Hitler’s rise to power and the Holocaust. What’s depressing is getting a handle on what inhumanity humanity inflicts on itself. Best face it early... you’ll build a better world somehow perhaps. I hope Ireland and Irish will have your appreciation when you’ve seen some of the other options on offer. Go n’éirigh libh, a chairde!

My teacher said that this film is about people that are pushed to the edge by stress , Catherine was stressed from her mam (her mam is quite demanding), and the only way she can escape is going to work ,she kills Paul because she's jealous that even though he's blind and has bad asthma , he has more freedom than her and has no stress at all.
