Lyric is one of my favorites. I’m not at the point of hacking patterns, but I have made it in two different styles with totally different fabric designs. Saw your make on the Love Notions secret sewist reveal and just loved it! So creative and pretty with that border turned around! Thanks for sharing your hacks! I’m definitely one to remake a pattern several times.😊
Thanks so much for coming over. I appreciate that. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Hacking can be very simple, this one was however a little more tricky.
Kris, I love the top you were wearing in your secret sewist portion of the video. Wow your dress is beautiful with that fabric! You can make anything look good! ❤❤❤ Initially I was not a pattern repeater but since I got a hold of Cashmerette, I am a pattern repeater!😅
What kind of tea do you drink? I know the ladies and gentlemen across the pond drink a lot of tea. I was just curious as to what kind of tea especially since you're in the Caribbean! I am enjoying living vicariously through your videos and Caribbean life!
Thank you. That’s an older make. A peplum top called the Ada peplum. You have me blushing over here! I’ve never tried cashmerette but I’m hearing good things about them!
I love Tetley with one sugar and a touch of milk! And I drink seeeevvvveeerralll cups a day. My bro says it’s an addiction. When I don’t have my tea I get headaches and the like! When I’m sick though I’ll drink the fever grass or some lemon, honey and turmeric tea.
earlier on one of the You Tubers I watch suggested using patterns at least 3 times. This was a budget suggestion to cut down on pattern/sewing costs. It has become part of my sewing routine. I get a little thrill of success when I finish that third make. It also gets the creative juices flowing. Because when I buy a new pattern, I immediately start thinking of 3 ways I can make it. Pattern hacking is one of my favorite things. I am sad you only give your dress an 8. Because it is a 10 to me. It makes me happy every time I see it.
This sounds like a good idea especially so far as hacking is concerned. Idk if I’d want three identical makes in my closet so hacking is definitely the way to get some more use out of patterns. Thanks much for the love on my dress 🥰
Prior to 2 weeks ago I rarely make patterns more than once. I am now in love with simplicity 3003. I’ve made it 3 times. Also I have made at least 6 times as gifts for my family the SIY(sew it yourself) Apron. Bib double skirt with patch pockets. It is a free heirloom type apron I love it.
The Secret Santa idea sounds fun! I love your dress. I do make my patterns more than once but hardly ever. So basically, not really. I believe the fact that I have easy access to inexpensive patterns contributes to that. If I had to pay more than $5.00 for a pattern, I would not have nearly as many as I do. I’m 50/50 on bias tape and facings. It depends on the garment. Another great video! ❤
It was fun but also a little stressful 😅😄 trying to make good use of the border print! You definitely should enjoy that privilege! I’d definitely be drowning in fabrics if I had those Joann sales 🤣. I guess when there are soooo many good patterns at your disposal there is no time or need to keep remaking the same ones. Thanks a lot! Means a lot to me that you’ve been following along ❣️
Kris, you are a talented and inspiring sewist. I love your videos. That dress is Amazing and Gorgeous on you. A quilter, I don’t mind facings but I love, love bias bindings for garments and quilts. I’m planning on doing Project Dress A Girl 👧🏽 this year and plan on making and using bias bindings in the dresses extending them into ties. And, I reuse patterns. I have to make a pattern at least 3 times to get the hang of construction.
That sounds like a really lovely project! You're a good human for helping those girls 🥰 but you and I definitely don’t agree on bias binding looooollll. I need to reuse more of my patterns. I’m doing better now at sewing up more than one than I was a few years ago but I’m hoping to sew more of what I have in 2025. And thanks for the compliment 😊
I love your hacked dress and how you placed the border print. ❤ I do pattern repeat, especially for basics and Love Notions are so good for that since they usually include so many options!
Thanks a lot. Glad you liked how it turned out. Yes love notions are stellar and provide sooooo many options. Easy to create many pieces from one pattern!
Your dress is beautiful! Omg it’s stunning on you too! I’m a pattern repeater if I want to give it another try to perfect the pattern on my body, or if it’s a great piece and can be a staple in my Memade wardrobe.
11:44 I love the dress you made, and I love what you did with the border! 15:10 I repeat patterns ALL. THE. TIME! lol, while I’m watching this video I am sewing four pairs of sleep pants from the same pattern ( different sizes) for my grandkids. But when I find a pattern that fits me correctly, I will make several different versions of it.
Thank you so much for that! Definitely required a little extra thinking on my part re the border print. How fortunate your grandkids are to have custom clothing. That’s so sweet🥰
Thanks for the video. When you recommended checking out another sewist, I thought, "How come I never saw her on Instagram?" It made me feel like the algorithm Gods were playing games. This made me think, "How many sewists am I missing?" I know you are busy, but I have a suggestion that should take less time than sewing. Can you make an algorithm challenge? The challenge would be to challenge your sewing friends to suggest 5 - 10 sewists that they follow. I am not a TH-camr, but I would like to follow other sewists. Thanks again for all you do.
@ Thanks for reading my post. When I say challenge, I mean you tell us who some of your favorite TH-camrs are. Ask each of your favorite TH-camrs to tell us their favorites. Ask your audience to watch your favorite TH-camrs, and if they like them, follow and subscribe. Hopefully, every TH-camr will gain new subscribers, and we, the audience, will get new TH-camrs to follow.
Repeater Hacked the *LaBellaDonna waaay to many times *TabithaTop ... Again many times *TidalTop is currently my go-to tank top. Great scrap Buster, great less than a meter project and fabric mashup potential. Finally cut out a short sleeve version. Not done yet though Greenstyle - Lumia is a great vest, or topper. Sleeveless, elbow and long sleeve. Made several prefer the elbow length Style arc "Edith" is a great scrap Buster and fabric mashup also. Great pattern Before the tidal came into my life i made Sinclair "rio tank" several times . And i lost track of how many HeyJuneHandmade "SantaFa top" that is a great scrap Buster, & fabric mashup i always cut the sides down to make it just regular tshirt style with and without a hemband. I should make another one. This is a great fitness tee. Just eliminate the wide hemline into a regular tshirt style. Of coarse either the Tilly "freya" from a rib knit and the love notions "Arlington" regular knit... Both several times ... The Tilly freya and the Tabitha are an interesting hack if you only have a small less than .5/.6M rib knit and a fitness mesh for the bottom half add a hemband and sleeveband???? Unique piece that turned out better than expected.

I’ve not made S3003. Actually I don’t even own it but it looks like a great basic especially for colder weather!

I saw the reveal. Your dress and fabric choice was my favorite. The dress is beautiful.
Awwwwww that warms my heart. Thanks a lot!
I very rarely repeat patterns, primarily because I have soo many that I'm eager to make 😮
I totally get this. This was me when I first started. I was like, I wanna make ALLLLLL the things!😆😅
YES!!! I want to make them all yesterday😂😂
Your dress is beautiful! Omg it’s stunning on you too! I’m a pattern repeater if I want to give it another try to perfect the pattern on my body, or if it’s a great piece and can be a staple in my Memade wardrobe.
Thanks girl! It’s great to find patterns worth repeating. Helps get a little more bang for the buck!
You made such a beautiful dress! Great job!!
Thank you so very much!
11:44 I love the dress you made, and I love what you did with the border!

I love that dress! I don't have a tnt yet. Still trying the numerous patterns I have.
Thanks you so much. Hopefully you’ll find a few that you reeeealllllyyyy like and want to repeat!
I love your dress!
Thanks a lot!!!!
Beautiful dress. I try to make two of each pattern unless I just don't like the look on me from the first one.
Thank you so much! I wouldn't remake something that doesn't look great either.
Girl! It’s beautiful! Wishing I lived close to you for two reasons! So we could create and sew together AND so I could be in warm weather! 😂.
Thanks so much. Well I'm definitely up for having some sewing friends close!
Thanks for the video. When you recommended checking out another sewist, I thought, "How come I never saw her on Instagram?" It made me feel like the algorithm Gods were playing games. This made me think, "How many sewists am I missing?"

You definitely have tons of tried and true patterns. That makes me happy that you’ve gotten lots of use out of them!
