Fun Fact: Whenever Ella is given an order, we hear a chime that indicates she's being compelled to follow it. When Char asks her to kiss him, the chime is the faintest its ever been in the whole movie, signifying that the spell is barely compelling her because she already wants to kiss him.
I always thought that her friend didn’t notice her “gift” because she never demanded anything of her. She’d always request instead of stating. The difference between “can you do this for me?” And “do this for me.” (Although she for sure should have noticed her following orders from other people, but you know, suspension of disbelief)
Yea I guess she just thought Elle to be a people pleaser but the fact she stood by her side from childhood shows how good a friend she is and how supportive she is no matter what, but also sucks that she had to be kept in the dark then was just invited to the wedding later lol
“It’s like Cinderella” Main girl is named Ella Main guy is named Char (aka Prince Charming) but yes this is just another Cinderella spin off but one of the better ones lol

It’s so funny that both Anne & Nicholas Galitzine are in anachronistic Cinderella adaptations and BOTH sing Somebody to Love in them. And Minnie Driver is in both of them. And now we’ve seen them together. Ella Enchanted is far superior to the one he’s in though 😅
Fun fact: Lucy Punch, aka Hattie, also played the stepsister in 2000's Cinderella, Into the Woods, and the Cinderella episode of Fairy Tales. Even better, it's actually not typecasting. When she was a little girl, when everyone else wanted a princess party, she asked for an ugly stepsister party. This is literally a dream come true for her.
I am convinced this movie would do so well with a stage adaptation. I feel like there are so many moments where additional songs could be added to get to know the characters more. And it would just be so fun.
I love that Cary Elwes played the most heroic of storybook heroes in The Princess Bride and then plays the hyper-villainous storybook villain Edgar here.
If you think about it, Ella is given the keys to break the curse by Lucinda when she says "break it yourself. Don't blame me for your problems." That was an order. So any time after that, Ella could've broken it at any point.
Just wanna check in with some more love and healing vibes for Zuff! I hope he’s doing well and kicking cancers ass! This video was a pleasure you guys, just missing Zuff. Love ya guys !
The first time I ever heard "Somebody to Love" was in this movie, so years later when I heard Queen singing it I remember thinking "THE SONG FROM ELLA ENCHANTED?!?!" Same with Don't Go Breaking My Heart being an Elton John song lol
"It's like compulsion from the vampire diaries" lol its so cute how they reference the vampire diaries even when they're not reacting to the show in the video
Actually Ella enchanted is based off a book. The book was published in April 1997, the first harry potter was published in June* 1997 so Ella enchanted was indeed first!
Lucy Punch (Hattie) has played the stepsister in 4 different renditions of Cinderella, so if you’ve seen a handful of live action Cinderella movies, it’s likely that’s where you’ve seen her.
LOVE The Jane Austen Book Club! It’s so underrated and one of the few book-to-screen adaptations that is better than the book. I love the big cast dynamic and their chemistry. I hope we get to see them react to it someday.
This was such a fun reaction love it honestly anything Anne Hathaway is in is always great to me also she’s so takented like her singing voice was so nice great reaction guys as usual
Laughing that they didn’t get this was a Cinderella adaptation when the title is Ella enchanted and she has an evil step mother and stepsisters, a fairy godmother and a charming prince lol
It's interesting because in some versions of the tale, the father isn't dead but in travel or at home and aware of how his daughter is treated but he does nothing for helping her
I loved this movie so much growing up!!! everytime I listen to somebody to love I think of this movie because it’s one of my favorite parts of the movie 😭😭 great movie
The orange stepsister is also in St Trinian’s as Annabelle’s old bully. She’s in Hot Fuzz too, as the woman who plays Juliet. Her laugh is used in that for comic affect too.
Funny because I read that the actor who plays the ogre Nish is the father of the actress who plays Prudence Featherington in " The Chronicles of Bridgerton "
As a taller girl in school back on ‘04, I always loved Heidi Klums little cameo (Brumhilda)in the film repping (kind of) for the tall/girls. Also Lucy Punch (Orange sister) is comedy gold, she’s hilarious in Dinner For Schmucks.
Cary Elwes (Edgar) used to play Robin Hood in the classic "Robin Hood - Men in Tights" comedy. I am very sure this was fun for him to pretty much play a version of a mixture of the Sheriff of Rottingham and King John (his two arch nemesis). hehe
This is like not another teen movie but less parody, just putting every single fairy tale in a movie. Add more than a sprinke of Princess Bride and you got Ella Enchanted. It's very well executed
Fun fact in the bonus features on DVD they have a game where you have to find the hidden faces in the movie there's one in the bridge in the beginning of the movie where it's flying over the town😂❤
It’s a bit of an undertaking as it’s a three part mini-series, but I think you guys would enjoy The 10th Kingdom. Last I checked it was on Prime. It also has Hatty (the orange sister) as a bit part lol.
Gotta show my bf this movie now since he loves princess bride, didn’t even realize that was Wes playing the evil king lmao, I’m used to him being blonde in every role 😂
I will always remember the first time I rewatched Ella Enchanted after watching Hannibal and it took me until the song at the end to figure out where I knew Prince Char from lol. This movie is always fun.
HELL YEAH, love this movie and so glad you guys checked it out. Just in case anyone hasn’t mentioned it / noticed it…. Fun fact: the narrator is Eric Idle, iconic member of Monty Python and voice of Merlin in Shrek 3 😊❤️😁
Y’all had me cracking up at the end omg love u goofy fools! I adored this movie as a kid! We had it on DVD and I would watch it over and over again!! Def one of those for me and I was ~8 years old when it came out so I feel like the silliness & musical numbers (& ogre buttcracks) hit different at that age. I ate it up for sure. So glad you guys finally watched it those! It’s one of those “classics” to me even if it’s a little outlandish now. Also Anne Hathaway I mean my god I’d watch her in anything. You know that moment in Heartstopper where Nick is watching Pirates of the Caribbean with his mom and he’s having a bi panic moment while watching Kiera Knightly & Orlando Bloom? This movie was DEF that for me w/Char & Ella. Haven’t see it in forever so again glad you guys watched/posted this. Great reaction per ush!! 🫶🏼

This was filmed in Ireland and they had to digitally put in blue skies bc it's so overcast and rainy over here 😂
Another film of the era, along the same vein, is “Ever After” starring Drew Barrymore.
Ever After is probably one of the best adaptations of Cinderella out there.

Anne Hathaway did win an Oscar for Les Miserables. If you haven't seen it, you should.
