she wasn't hesitant or nervous. Her in-ear monitor wasn't working so she wasn't able to hear herself. But like a true performer she kept going and then her monitor kicked in just before the second verse. She explains this in an interview
to people commenting on the flat beginning: poor thing, she said in a new interview her earpiece wasn't working and she couldn't hear herself the first verse :/ then it turned back on and she could hear in the chorus! and that's why she kicked so much energy into Fallingwater to prove herself even more! Interview is called Rise of Maggie Rogers: from viral video to SNL
As a musician I can see that right away her sound isn’t coming in. Most who haven’t performed can’t see these things. And I completely agree her music just transcends the soul ❤️❤️❤️!!!
I saw that interview, too. She pulled out of it and kicked ass the rest of the way. Not the way you'd like to have to deal with your first notes on SNL. I mean, it's LIVE.. The rest of the song and Falling Water were excellent.
Not to be rude, but in the album recording, she's flat when she sings " then I'm okay with that", specifically in the word "that". The reason I found this video is because I searched "Maggie Rogers flat" on Google.
There is something so true, so real and touching about Maggie’s voice, I can’t explain. Some words, some notes or phrases she sings with such expression.
Lucas..... A rare specimen in the world of music these days. She is perfect. If she can come up with a couple of follow ups to leave "Leave the light on", she will be a star in her own right.
She is telling you to live your story. Change. Let the waves wash over your reality. Get on a wavelength. Ride it to the beach. Your Creator is trying to reach you.
It's authenticity. She's not hiding below pretending. You unconsciously respond to that with every fibre of your being. I knew the opposite of the Kardashians had to pop up at some point.
