I drove my '82 300D, pulling a loaded U-haul trailer, from GA to CA years ago. The a/c didn't work. It was an adventure! Slow climbing the Sierra Nevada mountains, but so we're the semi trucks I was traveling along with, and it was warm crossing the desert in June, but I was young and it was great fun in the old Benz!
I looked it up and Mercedes used single stage enamel for solid colors into the 90’s, base/clear for metallics staring in the early 70’s. So that would definitely be period correct. Nice car btw!
Man, I'm in love this this one too! Swapped one of these into my bronco2. Look for the benzforce pump and Garret kkk26 turbo! Really wakes this fuckers up. I have a header kit I'm in the middle of making for these. Awesome find sir!
That is a 1977. Driver “B” post is a production plate on the year and moth it was made. It could be a 9/1976 which is a 1977. I have been working on these mbz for 40 years

Also, on these, you don't want to release the key until you know for sure it's running.
Very nice, and low miles!

That is not a 1976. That body style didn't start until 1977 model year.
Vin plate said 1976
@@L8R-HP Only explanation for that would be it was a '77 built in '76, or a Euro grey market version

Not letting it glow long enough.
Good score. Not many that clean anymore.
You should always prime the fuel system with the manual pump by the small fuel filter. Otherwise your Injection Pump won't have the pressure to start.
No glow plug light, they may not have been working.
