    Good info. I agree these shocks are the ones to get. The exception is the grays may be a little better since the coating is stronger. The point though is that other shocks like Pro-Line tend to cost more and might get discontinued. Then you'll be out of luck. GTRs however, will be around for a very long time and are inexpensive to repair if ever needed.

      Thank you so much. These are great point. I wish I had included them in the video myself. I agree entirely. Not to mention that PL is now part of Horizon. Who knows what products will be available and for how long? Again, great points. Thank you.

    Sadly Traxxas no longer makes these shocks with the bottom retainer but I found the older model on Amazon. Gonna go with some black springs as well.

      I found the newer models on the website. For example 7164X for the front. I think they dropped the non TiN version. But they have the TiN version. The TiN is just a harden coding on the shaft that makes it more durable.

      I completely forgot about those. My brother use to run those. They use clips instead of the threads. The GTR shocks are about 1mm larger in diameter, but I do like the caps on the ones you have.

    Great vid! I understand the GTR shocks are a bit bigger diameter than the ultra shocks, are there any fitment issues between these and the sway bars on a slash 4x4?

    • @telecomandorc
      @telecomandorc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are not fitment issues. The Slash 4x4 Platinum and Ultimate came with the GTR shocks and sway bars. If you have a Slash 4x4 without sway bars and GTR shocks, I would recommend them. The shocks for sure. The sway bars do not make much difference bashing, but in dirt/clay it makes a difference. Even just running ovals with friends.

    Im looking currently building a crawler and am thinking of using these shocks in XXL (100mm) as a cheaper alternative to prolines. I cant find an overview showing all of the compatible springs. I am looking for some with a rating of around 2 - 2.5 .. Is anything in this range available? Are XXL Bore springs conpatible? Thx

    • @telecomandorc
      @telecomandorc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You will need to look at Slayer Pro springs. TRA5941 are rated at 2.0. There are the ones I am using on my T-Maxx with the GTR XXL shocks. TRA5942 is a 2.3. TRA5435 is a 2.6. Just in case you want something softer TRA5940 is 1.8.
