Unboxing Zoukei-Mura kits is always a challenge. So much to show and say and limited time to do it. Those are the best kits in any scale currently available on the market.
Zoukei-Mura have two options of the Do-335. The one unboxed and reviewed here is the twin-seater A-12. The other is the signle-seater A-0.
The only competition that Zoukei-Mura have is from HK Models with their Do-335 line in 32nd scale / amzn.to/2DuWvxB /, but they are inferior on many levels.
Follow the unboxing video to discover a whole new realm of scale modeling. Zoukei-Mura won't disappoint you!
A mask set designed for this and HK Models A-12 kits can be found here: dnmodels.com/product/dornier-...

Just found your review of this very interesting model kit. First, your video work and narration are excellent! You are to be congratulated for your meticulous final product. Second, this model company is offering exquisite detail and engineering, and your video is the first time I have been introduced to them. Now, like some others have commented, I only have to find a way to gird my resolve to take on a project like this, and then find the nerve to convince my wife that it would be worth it. Not easy in either case. Thanks so much for your dedication and passion in the making of this series. All the best.

Many of my mates think Do335 is ugly.
but I really love this aircraft and think its shape very beautiful!
I have build 3 of them with tamiya 1/48 scale kit
THX for sharing this kit but the only short is expensive

If you ever have the chance to visit the Steven Hazy Center of the Smithsonian at Dulles Airport you can see the real thing. It is beautiful. The Ho229 is there as well is the He219,but these two aren’t finished being restored. I’m not sure the Ho229 will ever be restored but preserved as is,which is very degraded as it was not properly protected while in storage.

I had never heard of Zoukei-Mura until late 2018. I came across a wonderful display of their model kits in a hobby shop in Tokyo. The display included many assembled models such as the Do335 and Horton 229. I was blown away by the amazing detail. The other thing which astonished me was the available detail up kits available for these planes from ZM and that also included a reference manual for the 335. This showed a full build and lots of extra photos and info on the plane. I will put this kit on my wish list

What makes their models so impressive is the amount of unnecessary detail that goes into their design. For example, in the Ho229 kit, each of the Jumo 004 engines has ten compressor rotors threaded on the main shaft of the engine, which are then sandwiched between the halves of the stators as you close the two halves of the compressor section around them -- at which point all of this detail disappears into the interior of the engine and are never seen again. For the Do335 kits, where most companies would use pin-and-socket alignment aids, the engines have the pistons and piston rods molded into one of the halves of each cylinder bank -- which get closed up inside the engines and never seen again.

One thing about the choice of plastic for the exterior surface that I saw in the 'concept note' book Zoukei-Mura released on the Ho229, you can polish the surface of the pieces, and they become transparent, so you can display the interior structure of your model.

It does bother me when people nit pick about how other companies models are pretty close or the price of ZM isn't justified. They aren't being serious with themselves. The passion and attention to detail with ZM is so far ahead, I can't see why people even bother complaining. Like you said, "if you want to up your game"....maybe the whiners are simply that. They got no game.

Just looking at the subcomponents tells you things about their attention to detail. The front engine alone is more than 40 pieces, and where most companies would use the standard pin-and-socket arrangement for alignment of the two sides of a component, Zoukei-Mura molded the pistons and piston rods into one half of each cylinder bank to align the halves of the cylinder banks; I was halfway expecting to see a crankshaft piece that the piston rods tied into, from having seen the instructions for the Jumo 004 engines in the Ho229 kit -- where you thread nine compressor rotors onto the engine shaft, then the two halves of the compressor section, each with ten stator disk halves, close around the compressor stack -- and except for the front stator disk, you never see _any_ of that again. But you know it's there. The only issue I have with the engine is that I'm going to need to find space to add weight to the nose to ensure that it sits properly on the landing gear, and the piston rods take up space that I will need to use for weights, likely fine steel shot with some superglue to anchor it.

Although not an aircraft modeler normally, I now want to build the plane.
    Your review was very convincing.

Forgive my ignorance sir, why the variation in sprue choice, Clear/plastic parts.
I see, your explanation was for visual internal structure display.
Have been out of the game for 30+ years, but have an itch to return and dip my toes, so to speak.
I did have my eye on the Wingnut Wings 1/32 Avro Lancaster B.MK.III, when they finally release it.
I consider it a no hurry build, 1/2 years with illumination ..LOL.
Now this is a beautiful aircraft, with its own charm and characteristics.
But the parts and build guide, oh boy … now that's an engineers manual, and I love it.
I thoroughly enjoyed your walk through of the sprue parts, quite in-depth, a learning experience in itself, thank you.

    • @DmdShiva
      @DmdShiva 4 ปีที่แล้ว

The clear sprues come in a slightly rough surface that allows paint to adhere better, but it causes them to become translucent. However, if you polish them to remove this fine texture, the pieces become transparent, giving you a clear view of the internal structure.

the plane looks very similar to an ARC-170 from star wars, i wont be surprised if its the main inspiration for it.

its called the dornier 3 thirty five, NOT the dornier three three five. also it's pronounced dornyer, not dorni yay. claude dornier germanicized his name because he was born in germany, albeit with a french background.
