@@BecomingFilipino Kyle, bolinaw is anchovies, I guess. Nice as inon-on in banana leaf, also delicious as kinilaw and torta...you mix it with beaten eggs then fry. Enjoy my province...clean air, clean ocean, fresh seafoods and hospitable people.

When I arrived in the Philippines for the first time in 2007 I was overwhelmed by how different it was to anywhere I had been before. I pretty much stayed in my hotel and was too intimidated to go out anywhere. Luckily I had been chatting to someone online for a few months and they persuaded me to jump on the superCat and make the 4-hour trip to Ormoc. The people I met there changed my life forever. So open and friendly and genuine. For me it was a truly inspiring place to visit. I hope it did the same for you. :)

The fruit that Brent made into a shake can be eaten by itself. But, it has to be really ripe otherwise it'll be sappy. When it's ripe, just peel off the skin then eat the inside, except the seeds. They're called star-apple or kaimito.
