    Yes! I need a video like this for all elements in all events! Soooo interesting. My only suggestion would be to order from least to most difficult. ❤ that you cited the gymnasts!

    I wonder if Teza's inventiveness was from her, her coach, or something in between.

    The Lori "Strong" 1-1/2 twist from high to low bar is truly amazing!

    I love every variant of the Shaposh with half turn, I was happy they upgrated them and now more and more gymnasts perform them, I always enjory those transitions (thanks for that Khorkina), I also love the bhardwaj

    The Strong is absolutely amazing. Wish more people did it.
    That said, wish gymnasts would be more inventive in their transitions in general. I am so tied of the overused pak/VL combo.

    I think the Khorkina transition looks so much more elegant the way Khorkina does it with the straddled legs as opposed to how all of the new Russian's perform it, with legs together.

    Amazed how some of these transitions are kept in the COP when they are physically impossible (with the widening of the bars)

    Some tiny gymnasts are well capable of avoiding dead hang. And the flightiest of all on those transitions was Mo Huilan.

    Agree. The Delladio should be a D because it needs a lot of power to fly from handstand.

  • @MostepanovaFan
    @MostepanovaFan  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @veevee305 In the current code it is not considered a real element (and there is a set deduction for performing it), but in 2000 it was a legitimate move which is why so many girls performed it.

  • @violaroadkill
    @violaroadkill 15 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    standing on the low bar now incurs a deduction.

  • @MostepanovaFan
    @MostepanovaFan  15 ปีที่แล้ว

    It says at one point that it is 0.1 deduction for changing bars without an element, so thats where they take it for standing on the bars

  • @boytoyville
    @boytoyville 15 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you for posting, You know they really need to encourge more unique and difficult transitions and they aren't doing that with this new code. I mean a pak salto full should be like a G not an E and why the hell is a bail to handstand still a D? I mean we are going to have to see that for ANOTHER 4 years now. Why also would a pike or stalder hecht to highbar only be a C? It's very fustrating.

  • @MostepanovaFan
    @MostepanovaFan  15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Flight refers to letting go and recatching the bars (either the same or a different bar), whereas swings don't release the bar

  • @CelloRosin
    @CelloRosin 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    What is it called when they gymnast stoops their legs through (either straddled or piked) to kind of sit on the low bar and push themselves up to the high bar? I don't know if that was clear lol. A lot of gymnasts used to do it, especially in the early 90s. It is Kim Zmeskal's first transition in her 1992 routine. Is it no longer in the code? Or did I just miss it?

  • @TsubasaDreams
    @TsubasaDreams 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Quick question, did the transition Khorkina used to the high bar at the 1996 Worlds still in the code? It kind of looks like a Shapashnikova half but looks more hecht-ed than hip circled.

  • @catherineb8595
    @catherineb8595 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yep, still present in her 2012 silver medal routine! She might have won gold without them. It's annoying because it spoils it a bit. Yao Jinnan cleverly just uses shaps to get around it, but they should really work on eliminating it like other countries are able to.

    I have a question. I remember a certain low to high bar transition being used a lot at the 96 Olympics. It was (let me see if I can describe it right) a cast then the legs sort of straddle the low bar and they spring up to the high bar (there's a lot of those in the US gymnasts' bar routines). Is that not in the CoP anymore?

  • @actorboy2
    @actorboy2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I get why they cap transitions at E is so gymnasts don't create routines with super high difficulty that only include going from low to high. However, the Strong, Seitz, Komova and a few others are so devalued its rediculous

    @Elemarth 14 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @garyj79
    @garyj79 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    True, though I find (IMO) one of the biggest culprits of dead hangs was 2008 bars gold medalist......He Hexin !

  • @ShawnVikaKomova2012
    @ShawnVikaKomova2012 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @MostepanovaFan What about the transition that Melanie Marti did in 05? She did a handstand on the low bar and then a front pike/straddle to regrasp the high bar.

  • @Ruffian144
    @Ruffian144 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Another fab post, M! Kudos to Lori Strong for her skill; I'd like to see it today instead of the obligatory contact w/ the low bar most gymnasts seem to make. It surprises me that at :20 - :32, while the regular Shaposhnikova is a D, w/ a 1/2 turn its an E; yet the regular Teza & the Teza w/ a 1/2 turn are both D (2:37 - 2:56). I'm comparing the ratings not the skills. The Teza seems such a difficult & original skill that it should have a higher rating than it does. Any thoughts, anyone?

  • @AlyaralovaFan
    @AlyaralovaFan 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Perhaps tucked transitions and laidout transitions do not make much of a difference in difficulty, so they simply do laidout transitions for more difficulty and connection values.

    @garyj79 why did they widen the bars?? It seem like a struggle for many female gymnasts in transitions these day and they simply cannot do any other complex moves like in the video clip...

    • @Altoclarinets
      @Altoclarinets 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It makes it easier to swing giants and catch releases with proper technique. Gymnasts are actually allowed to set the bar width anywhere between 130 and 180 cm (4'3" to 5'11"); if the tradeoff for the wider width were not worth it we would not see nearly every major international name of the last 20+ years using the widest possible setting for their routines.

  • @AlyaralovaFan
    @AlyaralovaFan 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think that the delladio should be given a D or high rating. It's really hard to hold a handstand for that long :(

  • @AlyaralovaFan

  • @garyj79

    @wonderlen - I know, and most chinese gymnasts (despite their dominance on the piece) seem to have difficulty transferring - a lot seem to dead hang ! their technique or something must be dodgy.....

      It's a sole circle - it's not allowed at the elite level but it is relatively common in lover levels. There's one in one of the UK grades and it can and is done at optional levels in the US. I'm pretty sure it's in the COP still, though.
