Your point about the crowd was pretty interesting melon. When I saw them live back in October, this random person in the audience and I got inches away from each other and screamed the words to Guest House at the top of our lungs. We ended up embracing and hugging by the end of the song, and it's one of my favorite concert memories ever because I never thought I could share that level of aggression and startling compassion with a stranger.
I saw them in Dallas in February. It was amazing. Alexis bashed himself in the forehead with the microphone, started bleeding, and continued performing like nothing happened.
Saw them in April in Moscow. Very similar venue to what you describe, sort of long room with a bar, small crowd very calmly and quietly gathered around closer to the stage before the show, and as soon as Daughters started with their first song, people just exploded and the whole place turned into a mosh pit until the very end. I was absolutely soaking, constant flow of bodies crowd surfing, people just dancing and shouting along their sorrows away, blood and spit, intimacy, sweat, the band absolutely brilliant, Nick and Alexis were fronting and going ape shit, Nick dancing like an actually scary and sexy version of Mudvayne's 'devil' bassist from Dig video(lol), Alexis basically flogging himself and totally getting off to a very tactile interaction with the crowd, their touring guitarist was diving with a guitar, while people in the front were holding his wire so he could continue playing, well, as much as it was possible, towards the end it was really destructive and exhausting in the best way possible, Alex built a structure out of speakers and microphone stands in the middle of the stage, everyone in that bar that night lost themselves in the moment. It was truly magical how friendly and happy it all felt, yes it was animalistic, aggressive, but it felt cathartic and you just knew that every person around you felt the same, a dude hugged me smiling after the gig and said "sorry, I lost control and have bitten you a few times while they were playing", I could only smile and hug him back, it felt like so much primal fun. Therapeutic is what it was, unique experience, definitely on a look out for any future Daughters gigs.
I was at this show and cannot recommend seeing this band live enough, it’s easily the best show I’ve been to. Met the Melon himself too, really nice guy
Saw them in Portugal just a few days ago. I had not heard of them prior to the gig. I can't stop getting tingles thinking about how incredible it was. Became an instant superfan.

Saw them in Pittsburgh last Friday. Easily one the most insane shows I've ever been to. There were multiple instances of stage diving and Lex was carried to nearly half of the concert hall on their last song. I too personally got on stage and crowd surfed. The band was surprisingly cool about it which was in complete contrast to their performance, which was really really intense.
The way you describe the crowd is exactly how i felt seeing Machine Girl for the first time recently. 100 people just convulsing with grins on their faces. 10/10 would smash my face again
I saw them 10+ years ago when they released Canada Songs. The singer got really drunk and at one point took the mic off the stand (one with a circular iron base) then tried to balance the stand upside down with the mic laying on base, while trying to sing into the entire time. He also looked like he was cosplaying a vampire, with long hair and one of those puffy white bellamy shirts.
I cannot believe I discovered this band two weeks ago! And they played last year in October 15 minutes away from my place and missed them! I fucking hope I will have another opportunity to see them live in this life.

He also broke two different mics by swinging them against the ground. One of them snapped in half and he just kept singing into it, and the other one he just deep-throated. I’ve never seen a performer out crazy his own fans but Marshall managed it.
Saw them live last year here in DC and while they were amazing and I have zero complaints about their sound or performance, Wolf Eyes opened for them and that honestly stuck with me way more

I’ve run across the Daughters fairly recently and they are now my favorite band still together and touring. I’ve never seen them live except via TH-cam video so maybe I have no right to criticize Fantano’s review of their live show. Nevertheless, he mostly talked about how intense and over the top their show was, but not about the originally of their music. While Daughters are somewhat reminiscent of the Swans, they take the whole noise rock thing to a whole new level. They use dissonance not just in a heavy, jarring way, but as a way of creating a chromatic shower of beauty I’ve never really heard before. The lyrics and delivery of the lead singer was also very unique. The music I prize the most is that which takes me somewhere I’ve never been before, and that’s what the Daughters do for me.
