As someone who had never heard of Daughters until their last album, this is exactly how I imagined their singer would look.

Saw them in 2018 no idea what they looked like but there was a man in a beautiful tailored suit in the crowd watching The Body perform then he jumped on stage. Odd dude
He used to have dreadlocks and sing for a band called as the sun sets in late 90s I would see all the time back then

His dad used to hang out with my friends family when we were kids. One day he told me his son was playing in a band. This was about 26-27 years ago. Didn’t find out til years later he went on to great things.

Someone who knows Laurie Anderson, but didn't know she was a violinist made my day. Dust To Digital is amazing.
She was most well known for that performance playing violin while her feet were in a block of ice, before Oh Superman.

I saw Daughters play a show with Russian Circles back in 2008. Russian Circles was all about dynamics; subtle melodic parts mixed with crushing heaviness. In short, my mind was ****ing BLOWN.
Daughters, however, was the complete opposite. Every song was angular, jagged, and flat-out deranged. Nonetheless, I found their set every bit as compelling. Thanks to Amoeba for recognizing artists who exist on the outer fringes. IMO, this is the best clip of the series.

For those who remember, lex knows his way around independent record stores.
Zappa warns against it, but a peer and somewhat mentor to lex sang: "my daddy said 'eat the yellow snow.'"
Lex said this band was the greatest band from rhode island (at a DVD release show, one of the only shows where daughters performed songs off their s/t lp, as a four piece).

I've been to more than a hundred shows in the last 4 years, but I will never forget the front row Daughters concert from almost two years ago. That shit was unforgettable.
Also saw Lingua Ignota perform right before that (it was a sort of mini-festival) which only added to the overall experience.

Nah, it’s a good case study of how terrible people can be hard to label or otherwise spot as terrible in day-to-day life. Look at any Kemper/Bundy-esque interview, for example. Easy to hide shit habits behind at least docile or sedated, if not outright pleasant, mannerisms.
